Sovereign of the Ashes-Chapter 1502: Observing Battle
Since leaving their homeworld, the survival and reproduction of the Klytheran race had become incredibly difficult.
Both Karazo and Karl were, in fact, new-generation powerhouses born from the gene bank.
At present, natural Klytheran births made up less than five percent of the entire population. The remaining ninety-five percent existed only because of specially preserved embryos.
This was truly the tragedy of a species.
The Klytherans were far too dependent on their unique growth environment!
The Klytherite embedded in their chests granted them strength far beyond that of most species in the Astral Realm.
Yet that same Klytherite was also the greatest obstacle to their reproduction and long-term survival.
The biggest difference between Karazo and Karl lay in the simple fact that Karazo, having been born earlier, had received direct care from the first and second generations of Klytheran survivors.
Through special methods of inheritance, fragments of Planet Klythera’s final moments—its destruction and the slaughter of billions at the hands of the Gallant Federation—still lingered deep within Karazo’s memory.
Because of this, Karazo tended to act like a hardliner when it came to guiding the fate of the Klytheran survivors.
Even so, after spending time with him, Sein realized this Rank Five leader was a very level-headed man. He was certainly not someone who acted rashly.
Karl, on the other hand, was the youngest powerhouse among the survivors, inheriting the strongest bloodline of Planet Klythera.
From the moment he was born, Karl carried the weight of countless expectations and responsibilities.
However, because of gaps in his inherited memories and the sheer passage of time, he held little personal hatred toward the Gallant Federation.
Everything he knew about Planet Klythera’s past came from ancient records or elders like Karazo.
He did not carry the instinctive hostility toward the Gallant Federation or the deep resentment toward the Astral Realm’s brutal competition that Karazo and the older generation possessed.
In other words, deep within Karl lived genuine kindness, hope, and a belief in peaceful coexistence.
Of course, his girlfriend on Blue Star had played no small part in shaping that gentler outlook.
The battle between the two Rank Five Klytherans drifted farther and farther into the distance.
As he had promised the Blue Star natives, Karl kept Karazo, the strongest among them, fully occupied.
Aside from Karl and Karazo, there was one more Rank Five among the Klytheran survivors: Drew.
But Drew was even older than Karazo.
Now frail and physically sluggish, he had not joined the Blue Star campaign. Instead, he remained at the main base with another Rank Four Klytheran, guarding their main settlement and protecting the ordinary Klytherans below Rank One who had not yet matured.
Except Kram, every high-ranking Klytheran had charged straight to the front once the metal defense line had been breached.
After some hesitation, Kram noticed that Sein showed no signs of weakening and eventually joined the battle as well.
But before she could dive into the fray, Sein called her back.
“What’s with that one?” he asked, pointing toward another female Rank Four Klytheran on the starry battlefield.
Only two female powerhouses had accompanied the Planet Klythera forces to Blue Star.
Kram, with her distinctive red mushroom-cut hair, was the more ordinary-looking of the pair.
The other female Rank Four Klytheran had long flowing blonde hair and wore eye-catching combat gear—an extremely short battle skirt.
Compared to her, Kram looked more tomboyish.
Sein’s attention on the other female Klytheran was not due to her appearance.
Once the battle started, she did not charge the Blue Star legion at all. Instead, she hovered close to Karl and Karazo’s dueling ground.
It was obvious she cared deeply about one of them.
“Oh, you mean Misori?” Kram asked. She gave a small shrug and continued, “She used to be Karl’s closest friend. But sadly, Karl betrayed us.”
Whether it was Kram, Misori, or Karazo, it was clear that these Klytherans still cared deeply for Karl, even if he had supposedly “betrayed” them.
By now, six high-ranking Klytheran powerhouses were present on the battlefield.
No matter how formidable he was, Karl would not be able to hold out for long if all of them unleashed their full strength against him.
But in truth, for all of Karazo’s shouting and the destructive rays he hurled at Karl with every exchange, their fight did not feel like a true life-and-death duel.
Sein watched the battle between the two Rank Five beings for only a short while before losing interest.
Instead, the fights between the lower-ranking Klytheran fighters and the Blue Star combatants were far more intriguing to him.
“You go ahead. I’ll join you shortly. We Magus World mages are not as fragile as you Klytherans imagine,” Sein said with a smile to Kram.
Kram nodded and shot toward the frontlines.
Most lower-ranking Klytherans released energy beams from their eyes, mouths, chests, or fingertips when fighting.
Sein temporarily named these attacks “Klythera Beams”.
The Klytherans wielded this power with ease, much like how the knights of the Magus World wielded battle qi.
Once a battle began, most Klytherans manifested a thin layer of battle armor over their bodies.
They seemed to dislike heavy armor, yet their manifested armor still showed real craftsmanship and was actually quite decent equipment in Sein’s eyes.
This suggested the Klytherans still possessed some basic knowledge of forging and equipment crafting. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
However, because they had wandered the Astral Realm for so long, and because no exceptional blacksmith had emerged in their recent history, Sein suspected they had never truly learned how to draw out the full power of the Klytherite embedded in their bodies through their gear.
Their methods of harnessing power remained relatively primitive.
This became even more apparent in their combat style.
When Sein joined the Klytherans, he first headed toward a demigod-level battlefield.
There, a demigod-level Klytheran combatant was still fighting, even though a third of his body had been blown apart by the torrent of energy projectiles fired by the Blue Star natives.
Despite the severe damage to his lower body, sheer willpower kept him from collapsing.
On the battlefield, the lack of brain cells was a fatal flaw, and this demigod-level Klytheran was the clearest example of that.
