Sovereign of the Ashes-Chapter 1589: Chaos
As the sea kings charged forward and the sea race legions advanced in full force, Sein had no time for reflection.
He immediately ordered the deployment of the remaining Magus Civilization forces into the combat zone.
Sein’s legions were highly diverse, including several knightly orders, the Klytherans, the Huusians, and units from the Magus Alliance.
Alongside them were two Rank Five powerhouses—Orric and Hippolyta, the latter determined to return to the battlefield despite her severe injuries.
Not long ago, Grandmaster Feylis had also dispatched a formidable divine tower mage legion to reinforce him.
This divine tower had been founded by Chakra, a late-stage Rank Four Aeromancer from the Elemental Gate.
Although Chakra’s combat strength lagged behind Sein’s, this guy had actually reached Rank Four sixty thousand years ago.
He was a true veteran among Rank Four mages.
Such an extraordinarily long period of development had elevated Chakra’s Divine Tower of Dark Wind to remarkable heights.
The tower boasted over twenty thousand registered mages, outnumbering even the forces under Master Gregory and his Divine Tower of Whispering Flame.
Grandmaster Feylis had likely sent them to the Marvelous Plane battlefield to address the shortage of mages there.
Despite his advanced age, Chakra maintained a respectful and courteous attitude toward Sein due to his own affiliation with the Elemental Gate.
Founded by Grandmaster Feylis, the Elemental Gate maintained a relatively relaxed atmosphere and did not limit recruitment solely to law-wielding Pyromancers.
Likewise, in the Pyro Secret Society—a top-tier power of the Magus World—Zenasus, the Rank Seven Soul Overmage, also welcomed members who were not Pyromancers.
Within the Pyro Secret Society itself, elementalists specializing in hydro, geo, umbra, and other elements were present in significant numbers.
Sein had ordered the full-fledged mages stationed across this battlefield to first raise elemental shields to protect his legions.
Years of relentless warfare had forged the Magus Civilization’s war mages into elite troops.
As full-fledged mages, their foundations were already solid. Participation in just two or three more wars would be enough to temper them well.
The mages raised elemental shields with astonishing speed. Within moments, multiple massive layers formed around the advancing legions.
Even the fastest sea kings soon found themselves surrounded by overlapping hydro elemental barriers.
Sea races of Magus World, such as the mermaids, were natural wielders of hydro elemental power.
White Stella’s sea race legions included a large number of mermaids carrying coral wands.
These mermaids neither meditated nor pursued truths, yet the final expression of their power closely resembled that of many Hydromancers.
At this moment, they were also providing various protective shields for the advancing sea race legions and sea kings.
While mermaids generally possessed frail physiques and filled roles similar to Magus World mages, the Nagas—the most numerous force within the sea race legions—were born warriors!
Depending on their life level and evolutionary stage, powerful Naga warriors could have four, six, or even eight arms.
With their extra limbs, powerful bodies, and thick scales, these formidable Nagas were practically humanoid meat grinders on the battlefield.
The only real pity was that their appearance fell far short of the gentle beauty of mermaids.
Aside from those with particularly unusual tastes, most Magus World knights and mages, including Sein, found mermaids far more pleasing to the eye.
This was likely one of the reasons the mermaids were revered as the “royals” of Magus World’s oceans.
Avril, the strongest of the sea races and an overlord-level being, was a mermaid.
White Stella, who now commanded the sea race legions while wielding the Royal Trident, likely carried mermaid blood as well.
However, she was clearly not a pure-blooded mermaid, as a pair of dragon horns protruded from her forehead.
The horns resembled those of Tourmaline in her human form, though they were easily tens of thousands of times larger.
On closer inspection, the sisters’ facial features also shared subtle similarities.
However, Tourmaline was still a young lady, while White Stella had long since grown into a fully mature woman.
The clash at the frontline erupted in an instant.
With a single, brutal charge, the massive sea kings smashed Aquaria’s pride—the massive metallic sharks—into countless fragments.
Of course, the sea kings also suffered casualties once the battle truly began.
After all, they had charged with the greatest speed and ferocity.
Even with magic barriers reinforcing them, their bodies still burst apart in sprays of blood when they slammed head-on into Aquaria’s forces.
Given their immense size, the sea kings carried an astonishing volume of blood.
Those exceptionally resilient ones that survived the initial impact with Aquaria’s metallic sharks carried their momentum deep into the heart of the enemy formations.
In the wake of the sea kings’ advance, enormous volumes of blood and seawater spilled across the battlefield.
Some of that blood belonged to the sea kings themselves, but far more came from the weaker members of Aquarian legions.
As for the seawater flooding this interstellar battlefield, only a small portion was manifested through the law powers of Rank Four or higher beings. Most of it originated from Aquaria’s war platforms.
It turned out that the cubic metal pools transporting Aquaria’s creatures served more purposes than simple troop delivery.
As thousands of colossal sea kings charged toward them, the Aquarians hastily activated their metal pools, launching what seemed like water cannonballs.
Even so, the destructive force of these attacks fell far short of that of the space fortresses fielded by the Magus Civilization or the battleships commanded by the Gallant Federation.
“What kind of creatures are they?!” a Rank Three Aquarian merman shouted as he stood at the edge of his metal pool, staring wide-eyed at a demigod-level sea king rampaging before him.
Although both were Rank Three lifeforms, the gap between this merman and the whale-like sea king with three sharp horns was utterly overwhelming.
Barely two meters tall and gripping a steel trident, the merman knew that even four or five of his kind working together would stand no chance against such a monstrous beast.
The sea king was clearly badly wounded. A thick jet of crimson blood poured from the base of its right horn, as though a massive gash had been torn open there.
Before the Rank Three merman could recover from the shock of that charge, the surrounding space darkened.
Another sea king, even larger than the first, opened its enormous maw and swallowed an entire corner of the metal pool whole, along with thousands of Aquarian creatures!
From the moment the two sides clashed, the battle plunged into complete chaos.
