Special Forces Medic-Chapter 752 - 719: A Head
The result of no one approaching was that he directly rushed to the third floor of the North District Police Station by himself, standing at the entrance of the investigation department with an air of arrogance. "Excuse me, who are you looking for?"
Xiao Lin looked at the first person who spoke to him since he entered, the wooden expression behind the black frame glasses. He seemed completely unable to sense the aura around him and instead pushed up his glasses. "Who are you looking for?"
"Ji Weihua!"
"Oh, he's gone to a meeting, would you like to wait in the resting room downstairs?"
"Really?" Xiao Lin retorted before lifting his foot to kick open the tightly shut door. "Gone to a meeting?"
The person sitting behind the desk was so startled by the commotion that his pen fell to the ground. Xiao Lin squinted at the person who lied without blushing, eager to see how he would try to cover his tracks.
"Ah, he hasn't left?" The wooden-faced person chuckled dryly twice. The notice downstairs clearly said he had gone to the district government for a meeting! "Director Ji, why haven't you gone to the meeting yet?" After asking, he dashed away, and Xiao Lin, watching his retreating figure, smirked interestingly before entering the investigation department office and closing the door with his foot.
"Long time no see, Director Ji."
"It's you!" At first, Ji Weihua received a call from downstairs saying a strange person was coming up to see him. He wondered who it could possibly be, unexpectedly it was someone from Hua Qingyi's side.
"It's me!" Xiao Lin placed the box he held in his hand on Ji Weihua's desk, the unhidden scent of blood immediately permeating the room.
"What do you mean by this?" Of course, Ji Weihua also smelled the pungent scent. He sat upright in his chair, his gaze shifting from the box to the standing Xiao Lin, looking up at the tall man yet feeling a slight unease inside.
"Is Director Ji waiting for someone?"
"I don't quite understand what you mean." Ji Weihua felt uncomfortable with the upward angle and stood up to be at the same level as Xiao Lin.
"Why not open it and have a look, Director Ji?" Xiao Lin sneered when he saw Ji Weihua suspiciously staring at the box. "You're not afraid, are you?"
Hmph, provoked, Ji Weihua yanked the box over and opened it, then exclaimed loudly upon seeing the contents! "Hehe, Director Ji, are you satisfied with my gift?"
"Someone, help!" Ji Weihua immediately shouted. "You murderer, I'm going to arrest you."
"I won't run, go ahead and call someone over. Then how will you explain why your man ended up dead in my hands?"
"You!" Ji Weihua pointed at Xiao Lin, deflated, supporting himself on the table.
"Director Ji, are you alright?" A questioning voice came from outside the door. "I'm coming in!"
"No, no need to come in, I'm fine." Ji Weihua swiftly moved to the door, blocking it with his foot.
"Are you really okay?" The person attempting to push the door open from outside found it useless, as if someone was blocking it from inside.
"I'm fine." Ji Weihua finally opened the door a crack, letting the person outside see him. "There was just a small accident, don't worry, you can go back to work!"
It was the same wooden young man from earlier, who didn't believe it and peeked inside a few times before reluctantly returning to his office. Ji Weihua locked the door and almost leapt in front of Xiao Lin, his teeth gnashing as he grabbed Xiao Lin by the collar.
"What do you mean by this?" He had seen arrogant people, but never someone this audacious. "Don't think just because you come from the municipal level I don't dare to do anything to you!"
"Of course, you do, you even assaulted and kidnapped policemen, what wouldn't you dare to do?" Xiao Lin kindly rewrapped the box, but the head inside was forever etched into Ji Weihua's mind.
"State your purpose." Ji Weihua lowered his voice. His person was in someone else's hands and had lost their life; he had no words for that. Since he dared to confront him directly, it implied he didn't even regard him seriously.
"Consider this a warning today, don't expect to gain anything from me, you simply don't have the capability." Xiao Lin said, patting the cardboard box. "This is just the beginning. If you plan to make any more moves, the next might not be someone you've sent but the head on your shoulders."
"Who exactly are you?" Listening to Xiao Lin's tone, Ji Weihua realized he couldn't just be a simple bodyguard and certainly not a minor character from the Dragon Soul.
"Who I am is something you really don't need to know so clearly, and your superior may not need to know either. Go back and tell your Fourth Master that I will definitely get back what she owes me."
"Fourth Master!" Ji Weihua struggled to support his body. He didn't need to know who he was, nor did his superior, and to this day he had never seen the real face of Fourth Master, yet this person knew so much about her.
"You can have your boss pass on the message, but I think his rank isn't something you can meet easily either." Xiao Lin felt he overestimated Yao Zheng. "Make sure you take care of the gift, don't lose it." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Xiao Lin pretended to pat the box. Looking at Ji Weihua's expression, he thought it should be more distinctive; only then would his trip here not be in vain.
"Oh, by the way!" Xiao Lin turned around at the doorway, facing Ji Weihua. "Those bones you tried to destroy are actually just a pile of worthless fragments. The real ones are no longer at the North District Police Station. Sorry, Director Ji, it seems you've been working for nothing."
"You!"
"Do you know why I'm not making a move on you?" Xiao Lin threw out the question, admiring the pale face of Ji Weihua. "You represent Yao Zheng."
What does it mean, you represent Yao Zheng? Once Xiao Lin left, Ji Weihua collapsed into the leather chair, not only losing a person but also wondering how he would explain to Yao Zheng. It was he who underestimated the opponent.
The phone on the desk rang, and Ji Weihua, adjusting his guilty conscience, picked it up. "Hello! Got it."
After putting down the phone, Ji Weihua looked at the box Xiao Lin had brought, quietly using the intercom. Shortly someone came in. "Director Ji!"
"Take it and handle it. Don't let it leak. And tell the family he's out on a mission for now, delay the announcement of death for a month or two." The person who came in seemed to know what had happened, his expression changed slightly, but he didn't ask anything untoward, as he took the box and turned to leave.
Only a head, no body, even in death one is not left whole! This kind of warning made Ji Weihua open the window as he cleaned up, unable to think amidst the bloody smell. In half an hour, Yao Zheng would come personally, and the bloody stench would definitely raise suspicion.
Half an hour was enough to clear the odor, but not enough to get rid of the bomb Xiao Lin left. So when Yao Zheng entered the office, Ji Weihua was thinking about Xiao Lin's words at the window. What did it mean that he represented Yao Zheng?
Cough! Hearing the cough, Ji Weihua turned around hastily, so engrossed in his thoughts he didn't notice someone entering. "District Chief Yao!"
"Director Ji, what were you thinking about so deeply?" Beside Yao Zheng stood two beauties he had never seen before, well dressed, and an aura incomparable to regular ladies.
"Recently, there've been many cases. Sorry, please have a seat." Ji Weihua guided the three to the wicker chairs on the side. He didn't like the soft feeling of sofas, where sitting seemed like sinking in.
"Let me introduce, this is Miss Xia, president of 'Rhine,' here for some inspections." Yao Zheng gestured to the woman on his left. Underneath curly long hair was an oval face, fair skin, rosy lips, a slightly upturned small nose, with a pair of lively eyes. Ji Weihua gazed at this face, forgetting his manners.
"Hello, Director Ji, I'm Xia Xue." Xia Xue smiled, extending her hand. She hadn't planned to come to the North District; the local environment was known to her. However, a fire forced her to come, and it all traced back to her father's side.
A fire in the Northern Palace dragged nearly all the surrounding shops in, and though there were no casualties, the economic loss was severe. Yao Zheng didn't want to clean up the mess or allocate financial assistance, so a call went to the municipal party committee, since it was a significant matter. Someone needed to be held accountable, but post-disaster reconstruction needed to be implemented too.
Xia Xue was unfamiliar with the North District. Xia Yusheng, as one of the new generation entering politics from commerce, naturally hoped to make a mark. Without consulting Xia Xue, he agreed to inspect the North District, which undoubtedly meant accepting sixty to seventy percent of the responsibility. No one wanted to invest in the North District, a place money goes in but not out; anyone with business acumen wouldn't set their sights there.
"Ji Weihua!" Yao Zheng saw Ji Weihua's dumb look, and angrily shouted, feeling his face was completely lost.
"Oh, hello!" Ji Weihua awkwardly approached the wicker sofa. "Would you like something to drink?"
"No, thank you. Pack up and come with us to the Northern Palace site."
"This..." Ji Weihua lowered his head in embarrassment, not knowing what to say.
"Is there any inconvenience?" Xia Xue looked at Ji Weihua, her lively eyes glancing at Yao Zheng. "If it's inconvenient, District Chief Yao, we can do it another day."
"Oh, it's not inconvenient; it's just that place is quite filthy." Ji Weihua looked at Xia Xue, thinking with her white dress, if she came back looking clean, it would be a miracle.
"How about this! Director Ji's concern is valid. There was just an accident, indeed not suitable for visiting now. I'll have someone clean it up these few days, and if convenient, you can come to my place tomorrow. The planning department has complete blueprints for reference." After glaring at Ji Weihua, Yao Zheng thought of a solution.
Xia Xue glanced at Lotus, nodding. (To be continued. If you like this work, please come to Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendations and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
