Chapter 101: Chapter 101โ€” Secret

At that moment, cole made a brazen decision. ๐“ฏ๐™ง๐“ฎ๐“ฎ๐’˜๐“ฎ๐™—๐™ฃ๐’๐’—๐’†๐“ต.๐“ฌ๐“ธ๐’Ž

"I need to get closer and hear more clearly," He thought.

He unexpectedly found a little bit of excitement welling up in his mind.

Not because they were being spoken about, but because his little guess was right.

"It felt quite nice to be able to confirm something like that myself," Cole muttered.

Having made the decision to approach that spot, Cole wasted no time.

While speaking on such a sensitive topic, Cole knew they would be extra cautious.

"I need to be much more careful," Cole said while he moved.

His weave was much cleaner while he got closer to the window.

The group of people seemed to be much more cautious than Cole thought, since all of the doors and windows were completely shut tight.

"Tsk,"

Cole moved around the building they currently were staying in, trying to get any crack he could enter through.

Luckily for Cole, he found a slightly open Window on one side of the building.

The window was directly opposite the meeting point, giving Cole a clearer view of the people in the building.

In Coleโ€™s line of sight was a large table that was surrounded by just three people.

They wore expensive clothes that didnโ€™t seem to belong in the slums at all.

They even exuded a profound air of arrogance that displayed the special power they held.

"They must be leaders of this settlement," Cole thought.

"We shouldnโ€™t care too much about those kids; thereโ€™s nothing they can do to us," One of the men said.

The man that just spoke looked to be the leader of this group. The others looked at him with an eye of respect.

"But leader, wonโ€™t they escalate into a bigger threat?" Another person asked.

"Hahahaha, they wonโ€™t because they canโ€™t," The man called leader said.

"He has promised to take care of them very soon," he said confidently.

"ohhh that man said that; then we really have nothing to fear," the others said.

"Letโ€™s leave those kids for a bit; we have much more pressing matters to handle."

"What is that leader?"

They asked with a curious gaze.

"The scouters have been reporting the absence of any of our usual target lately."

When the others heard that, their eyes immediately widened in fear as they thought about the consequences of that.

"Oh no, they must find them, they must," one of them said.

"I know, I am worried too."

"Leader, can you remember what happened the last time we werenโ€™t able to meet up?"

Outside the window, Cole stood there listening to what they were saying.

The more he spoke, the more annoyed he got. Despite it not being explicitly stated in their words, Cole was sure about what he thought.

"They are responsible for all those kidnappings," Cole thought.

Previously, he had thought there was something wrong with them as a group of people, but he never expected it to be that.

The world of Spiriters had been a world fraught with all types of danger, so he thought something else was wrong.

"Is it just the leaders of this group that are aware of this point, or everyone?" Cole wondered.

He knew it wasnโ€™t logical for the whole crowd of people to go about kidnapping people.

"It must be a selected few," Cole decided.

That conclusion raised even more questions in his mind. Since it contradicted one of his observations.

"But if it is just the selected few, why were the people acting weird?"

"There must be more to this," Cole thought.

The more he thought about it, the more questions popped up. At a point Cole decided to give up on answering all of the questions and listened more.

"I need more information," Cole thought.

Shutting his mind off, Cole leaned closer to hear more.

"How much longer do we need to do this for, leader?" one of the men said.

"Sigh, I donโ€™t really know; it is until that certain someone is done."

"How long is it going to take him?"

"I think more people are suspecting us; those kids arenโ€™t just the ones."

"The others are just much more sneaky, "

"I am aware of that too."

"When that person is done, all of this wonโ€™t mean anything to us at all," the leader said.

"We only have two goals right now, and they need to be solved as soon as possible."

"The first goal should be helping the scouters get more targets for that man,"

At this moment, in Cole, two major emotions were mostly dominant.

Intense anger and confusion.

Some of the words and statements that Cole heard from them confused him further.

Words like โ€™that certain someoneโ€™ were the most important ones.

"Does that certain someone refer to Michael, or is there someone else?" Cole thought.

The two of the choices werenโ€™t something too good for Cole.

If it was referring to Michael, then that means that Michael was much stronger than he thought.

If it wasnโ€™t Micheal then, that means there was another threat they had no idea of.

"Why is this thing getting increasingly sticky?" Cole thought.

The next words they spoke inside the room immediately attracted Coleโ€™s attention.

"About that girl, is there any lead on her Location," the leader said to one of the others.

This man looked to be an especially rugged man; his face itself instilled fear in people.

"The guards have been unable to find any signs of her,"

"She is really smart and cautious," the man responded.

Coleโ€™s eyes widened when he heard them speak about that lady.

"so she is associated with them," Cole thought.

This made things much clearer to Cole.

"She seemed to have escaped from this place for some reason."

Cole was so completely absorbed in his thoughts that he lost his vigilance.

He didnโ€™t notice the man that was approaching him from behind.

Under the veil of night, Coleโ€™s figure was faintly visible, but the man was unsure about it, so he decided to approach.

While staying as quiet as possible, the man approached Cole from behind, and when he got close enough, he shouted out.

"Hey you, what are you doing there?"

Upon hearing that, Coleโ€™s heart immediately sank as he froze.
