Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 91—Missed Opportunity
Just in front of the dome-shaped building, Linda could be seen sending out sword slashes in all directions.
Despite the randomness of the attacks, she made conscious efforts not to send it towards the building.
Rugged-looking men, dressed in all sorts of attire, scurried all around; they found it extremely hard to block or even cope with Linda’s attacks.
On the side, Bryan was gently sending out palm strikes at the same group.
The number of thugs there was much more than the trio could have expected.
Linda and Bryan exchanged glances of worries while they thought of the same thing.
"Why haven’t we seen any Spiriter?" they thought.
This thought led them to feel a small sense of dread while they also increased their Caution.
"Be careful of sneak attacks," Linda heard in her mind.
She looked towards Bryan and nodded towards him slightly.
"You may begin, Cole," the distant Cole also heard in his mind.
He was alarmed by the voice since it was part of their plan.
"I have encountered a little problem; they knew I was coming," Cole sent to the others.
The duo immediately looked shocked, resulting in them losing their focus for a while.
Zlit!
Linda felt an attack closely pass by her head.
The attack immediately made her regain herself in shock as he looked to her left.
Standing there was a middle-aged man holding a pair of curved blades.
Finally seeing a sprite immediately made a smile appear on her face.
"Finally some fun," she said before responding with a flaming slash.
In Cole’s location, Michael smiled extremely slyly while he stared at Cole.
"It seems you came with friends," he said.
"It is all pointless though."
Before he finished his words, he had already activated the ability, shifting the ground beneath his feet.
He appeared behind Cole and sent out his hands to grab onto Cole. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Cole was at the brink of activating the Lightning Coat, but he still tried his best not to.
"I know there’s something more to this," Cole thought while he dodged.
Due to the nature of the approach attack, it was actually enough for Cole to just move a part of his body.
But Kinetic Acceleration just doesn’t work that way.
"I really need to do something about this," Cole thought.
The same thing happened a few more times again, further consolidating Cole’s thoughts.
Suddenly, Micheal created some space between himself and Cole with a smile.
"As much as I would love to kill you now, I have something I need to do," He said.
Cole looked at him skeptically, as he knew how Cunning those guys could be.
"I will surely come find you before you leave the slums; await me."
With those words, the ground beneath his feet shifted, moving him further into the distance.
Cole wanted to chase after him, but he hesitated for a while now before deciding against it.
"That’s not the main mission," Cole said while looking towards the dome-shaped building.
"I am free now, guys; I am on my way," Cole said in his mind.
The plan was formed with Bryan’s ability as the base, which would allow a higher level of coordination between them.
After saying that, he hurriedly sprinted in that direction, heading towards the others.
In no time, Cole arrived in front of the building; their plan had already completely crashed the moment they met Micheal, so the only viable step was to regroup.
In Cole’s line of sight, he noticed a middle-aged man lying on the ground with burnt patches all over him.
He also saw Bryan looking at his unconscious opponent with pity.
"Why did you have to do this?" Cole read his lips.
"By this time, the front of the building was already completely empty.
Only unconscious bodies were sprawled all around.
"That was fast," Cole said.
"They are just a bunch of normal people and just two spriters," Linda replied with slight reluctance.
"That’s weird," Cole thought.
"We need to be careful."
"And why do you look like you’re enjoying this?"
Linda didn’t reply, only looking in another direction.
The three of them came together and looked to the entrance of the building.
"Let’s go in."
The three of them then carefully approached the building. They tried their best to observe their surroundings with extreme caution.
The three of them arrived at the entrance with no drama. At the entrance to the building, they could only see darkness in the building and nothing else.
With faces filled with determination, the three of them entered the building.
Now that they were in the building, they could see everything with much more clarity.
The inside of the building was a large open space. All around the open space.
There were a lot of plates and household items that signified that it usually housed a lot of people.
Cole didn’t waste too much time observing everything; he directly headed towards a corner where he could see a shivering man.
The man was hiding in a corner with extreme fear completely evident in his body.
"I have nothing to do with all of this," he continued chanting.
When Cole arrived in front of the man, he looked down at him with intense anger.
It took all he had for him not to directly attack.
"Explain yourself," he said in a voice that showed highly suppressed anger.
The shivering man gently looked up at Cole.
"I really have nothing to do with this" they just appeared suddenly and took over everything.
"Who appeared suddenly?"
"A group of shady people; they were led by an extremely terrifying and extremely young-looking man."
"Michael! when did they appear?" Cole asked again.
"It was a little more than a week ago," he replied.
Cole didn’t say anything to the man again; he just stood there completely lost in thought.
"This is getting more and more complicated."
"what do we do now?" Cole thought.
He turned behind him to check and see his teammates’ reactions, but he couldn’t receive any definite response from them.
They looked just as confused as he was.
"I have something else to say," the man said after a while.
