Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 94—Bryan’s save
Cole’s heart raced heavily while he tried thinking of what could have gone wrong.
Something always seems to go wrong whenever it involves him, and he can’t just seem to know why.
With extreme caution, Cole tried heading back to where he perceived to be the entrance, since he couldn’t say for sure where that actually was.
Cole walked a few steps to the front and turned around to check out the chair.
He noticed no increase in distance between them, but he didn’t do too much and tried moving forward again.
This time, he took quite a lot of steps, and upon looking back again, he noticed that the distance still hadn’t increased.
"What the hell is this place?" Cole shouted in frustration. He was only this calm because he had slightly confirmed there wasn’t really anything wrong with him internally.
So the problem was externally.
"How do I get out of this then?" he asked helplessly.
At the entrance of the room, Linda and Bryan watched Cole stand in a single spot in the room for quite a while.
He didn’t speak nor did he move.
He only stood there completely frozen like a statue.
"Something’s wrong with Cole," Bryan said softly.
"I can feel the spiritual connection between us almost completely severed."
"Almost severed?" Linda asked in shock.
"What do we do then?"
Bryan thought seriously for a while before saying,
"I think I can do something about it, but it might take a little while."
"I will go get him then," Linda said hurriedly.
"No, don’t. Don’t step into the room; I don’t think I would be able to handle it if the two of you get stuck," Bryan said.
Hearing the sense in Bryan’s words. Linda decided to relax and have Bryan make his attempt.
At this moment, Bryan’s body was already turning ethereal, and a golden sheen shrouded his figure.
"Such a unique aura," Linda thought to herself.
"I have never seen such an aura in anyone; both my teammates prove to be quite special. That’s perfect."
Inside the darkness,
"Cole, Cole, Cole." Cole could hear a distant voice calling him, but he had no way of responding.
He even had no idea where it was coming from; he could only just hear it in his mind.
"It must be Bryan," Cole decided.
Seeing his external efforts to help out of his situation, Cole decided to relax and try to get the help.
With that, he sat straight down on the dark ground and tried concentrating with all he had.
His only thoughts were about establishing a sort of connection with Bryan.
His line of thought proved quite effective as, unbeknownst to him, small golden threads emerged from him and ascended into the sky above.
"Cole! Can you hear me?"
The voice had begun growing much closer until it felt the usual way it was.
When Cole snapped his eyes back Open, he could see the familiar small chair and looked behind, and happily, the others were standing there looking at him with excitement.
Cole felt his own back drenched in sweat as he headed back towards the entrance of the room.
The moment he got outside the room, he felt like a watchful eye just left him. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"That was extremely scary."
"Are you okay? What happened?" Linda asked.
"I am fine; I just found myself in a dark space that was impossible to escape, but thankfully Bryan was able to help."
Cole walked towards Bryan, who was currently seated on the ground covered in sweat while trying to regain some strength.
"What’s wrong with you?" Cole asked.
"I... I...I...felt an extremely domineering gaze while trying to help you."
"It was so scary; I felt like I was going to die," he said with fear still lingering on his face.
"I felt something like that too, but it didn’t seem too malicious to me," Cole said.
The three of them simultaneously turned around to look at the room again while the same thought pervaded their mind.
"I will never go there again."
The three of them quickly picked themselves up and fearfully left the building.
Outside the building, they wondered what they were to do in a situation like this but just couldn’t find any.
Their strength seemed incapable of handling something on this level.
"We can only report this to the academy when we get back," Cole said.
"So, are we just going to leave this place this way?" Inda asked.
"Obviously not, I have an idea," and Andi’s eyes turned to the man.
"Since you don’t want death, there will be a task you will have to handle for me."
"o- okay- okay, anything you want, anything at all," the man said.
"I want you to always guard this building; you might do it from afar or close by, but always have your eyes on it, and every day you must report to me."
The man looked at the building in fear, but he quickly switched up.
His fear of death was much stronger than the fear he had for any building.
"I will do it, but how do we go about it, boss?"
"I mean the report,"
"Come to ____ by 8pm every day until I tell you to stop."
"Okay, boss."
"If you try anything funny, I will make sure I find you and your family," Cole said in a domineering voice.
"And I will,"
"Okay, boss; yes, boss, I will make sure not to disappoint you, boss," the man repeated in an attempt to flatter Cole.
"See that has been taken care of now," Cole said.
"We only have to keep track of this building during our stay here and report this to the academy when we are done with the mission."
"This is clearly beyond us,"
The other two looked at Cole while nodding in approval to his words and his plans.
Linda especially felt quite grateful; she won’t have to enter there again.
Now that we have gotten that out of the way. I have something else to say.
Cole told the others with an extremely serious expression.
"I think I know how we can find them again, and it relies heavily on Bryan," Cole said.
Hearing his words, all of them turned to look at Bryan.
"Me?" Bryan said with wide eyes.
