Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 95—Foiled Plan

Cole’s eyes were strained straight on Bryan, resulting in him feeling slightly uncomfortable.

"How do I help?" Bryan asked.

"You aren’t helping; you are doing most of the work," Cole replied.

Upon hearing Cole’s words, Bryan felt even more pressure.

"I am doing all the work; why and How?"

"I think you need to calm down quite a bit," Cole said.

"We just need one of your abilities,"

"Okay, go on."

"So it’s like this: last night when I went off on my own and you guys found me."

"I want you to do the same now, but for Micheal."

Bryan’s face immediately eased as he heard what was expected of him. Though he calmed down a bit, he still wasn’t completely smiling.

"I am sorry to tell you this, but that won’t actually be possible," Bryan said sadly.

"Uhhh, that won’t be possible. why?"

"My abilities don’t just track anybody; I need to have something that belongs to them and have at least made some spiritual connection with them once."

Despite being slightly reluctant to reveal the full detail of his ability, Bryan had to do it to clarify some things.

"Ohhh," Cole said dejectedly.

The light that just burned in his eyes not too long ago was already slowly extinguished.

"Wait, we don’t have to give up on the plan," Linda said from the side.

"We found them once; we can surely find them again, and this time Bryan will try to make a spiritual connection."

"The only thing left is to find something that belongs to him," Linda said.

Cole felt slightly motivated by Linda’s words; the dying light was quickly burning brighter again.

"Yh, we did it for the first time; we surely can do it again."

"And we are already halfway there; I already found something that belongs to him."

"Really?" the two asked.

"Yep, I found his academy watch," Cole replied while bringing out the familiar watch from his pocket.

"That’s even better." Linda smiled excitedly; Bryan also displayed a warm smile while checking the watch out. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"This might really work," he thought.

The trio then discussed for a while more before deciding to leave.

Before they left, Cole looked back at the man that was sitting quietly to the side.

"Don’t disappoint or try to betray me. I will know and make sure I find you," he said with a very cold face.

"I don’t dare, boss," the man said in reply.

Cole didn’t say anything further and turned around to leave along with his teammates.

The moment there was enough distance between them and the man, Linda finally spoke up.

"Look at you acting all scary to the man."

"You must be feeling all-powerful now."

Cole didn’t reply; he just smiled slightly, thinking back to what he was actually doing.

"It is something I had to do," Cole thought to himself.

While they were moving, Cole began thinking back to the battles, trying to analyze lapses and things that could have been done better.

Suddenly he remembered something, all those members of the gang that were knocked out.

"Why didn’t they use their Innate Spirit,"

Cole was just newly introduced to the Spiriter world not too long ago, so he didn’t really have enough knowledge of things like that.

He thought about it for a while before deciding to ask the others about it.

"Uhmm, do you guys know why some people don’t use their Innate Spirit, almost as if they don’t have one?"

Cole knew almost everyone should have an Innate spirit because it was almost like a world-shattering event when he failed to awaken that time.

Bryan looked at Cole with a strange face.

"You are really weird; sometimes you know things you aren’t supposed to, and sometimes you are completely clueless on basic things."

Cole smiled awkwardly while rubbing his hands when he heard that coming from Bryan.

"But to answer your question, yes, some people don’t have an innate spirit."

Cole was shocked by that response, causing him to stop in his tracks.

"Not because they don’t have Innate Spirits in them but because they didn’t attend the awakening test to awaken them," He said.

Things grew much clearer to Cole while he listened, though that answered some of his questions; he had more questions.

"But why wouldn’t I attend the awakening test? There’s nothing to lose."

"You think so; there’s actually everything to lose. The world of Spiriters is much more dangerous than you think and also expensive."

"Some people can’t just handle that sort of pressure and lack the money,"

"It will be much more obvious here in the slums, since most people here are not doing too well."

Cole didn’t respond or ask any further questions; he just kept his mouth shut while lost in his own thoughts.

Having solved that point of confusion in his mind, Cole moved to other topics.

His mind strayed from topics like his experience inside the building to Michael’s skills and finally to his own abilities.

While they were in battle, Cole had already noticed some lapses; he needed to try to change his abilities.

"The new feature of the Codex will finally have its use now," Cole thought.

In his mind, Cole was already making plans on how he would attempt to amend the Kinetic Acceleration ability.

Linda walked by the side in complete silence while scanning through the slums.

Her eyes displayed extreme vigilance as if she sensed something wrong, but she just couldn’t find anything wrong.

Despite not finding anything of note, she didn’t stop; she still continued her watch.

Since they were walking this time, it took them much longer to arrive back in the building, but before the day broke, they arrived.

On their way to his old room, Cole still stopped by Mr. Evans’s room to check, and he was met with the same.

He didn’t waste any more time before heading back into his room.

"There’s quite a lot I need to do," Cole said.

"But first let’s start by trying to make some changes to this ability," he said while looking down at himself with his golden glowing eyes.
