Spoiled by the CEO after amnesia!-Chapter 555 - 553: Installing a Bug
Zaizai was also tired today, and obediently nodded his head, "Okay."
Liang Anya arranged Zaizai into the toddler bed, turned off the light, and patted Zaizai to sleep.
Seeing the little one’s thick eyelashes close and his breathing even as he entered sweet slumber, Liang Anya sat up, tiptoed out of the room, and made her way along the corridor to the study.
The door to the study wasn’t locked and opened at a push.
Inside, she cursed Si Yuheng a thousand times in her heart, but stepped into the study anyway.
The room was pitch black.
Not daring to turn on the lights and risk attracting the attention of the mansion’s servants, she took out her cell phone to use as a light source.
In the dim light from the cell phone, the study was neat and orderly, its decor understated yet luxurious, with earth-toned handcrafted furniture that reflected the owner’s taste and his family’s extraordinary background.
She took out the bug from her pocket and hesitated for a moment before scanning the surroundings, then walked to the desk, went around to the back, and crouched down.
It was her first time planting a bug, and she was somewhat clumsy, compounded by the nervousness of doing such a thing for the first time, resulting in a slip of the hand that sent the bug falling to the ground.
Groping around in the dark, she cursed inwardly while searching.
Damn it, damn Si Yuheng! May he be cut to pieces!
Meanwhile, footsteps sounded at the mansion’s ground floor entrance.
The roar of a car engine and the accompanying headlights came from outside the villa.
Housekeeper Hui hurried out of the servants’ quarters and opened the door: "The young master is back—"
"Hmm, I’ve come back to get some medicine and clothes for the old master," the man replied in a calm, slightly weary voice.
"The old master is all right, isn’t he?"
George, who was driving the car, accompanied the Boss back to collect things and said, "The surgery is done, and for now, all is well."
Huo Zhenyang and George walked straight upstairs, reaching the landing just in time to see a faint glow of light coming from beneath the door of a room on the second floor.
It wasn’t the light from a lamp, but the dim glow of a screen, barely noticeable yet starkly visible in the dead of night in the villa.
In the study, Liang Anya also heard the approaching footsteps. Panicking, she gave up on picking up the bug, stood up, and hurriedly made her way out of the study.
She’d only taken a few steps out the door when two men suddenly appeared before Liang Anya.
One of them was the master of the mansion.
She hadn’t expected Huo Zhenyang to suddenly return, and her mind went blank.
The man’s hawk-like gaze was filled with icy indifference and remoteness, like a tyrant from on high, intensely vigilant, instilling a chilling fear in those who dared not meet his eyes.
No wonder Xiaoyi, whether four years ago or now, had always wanted to flee from this man.
Liang Anya’s back was drenched with sweat.
Huo Zhenyang and George, knowing Jiayi had asked Liang Anya to come over and accompany Zaizai, weren’t surprised to see her in the villa.
What was surprising was that she seemed to just have been in the study.
George gave a cool glance and asked with full suspicion, "Miss Liang, were you just in the study?"
Liang Anya immediately calmed herself and resumed her normal composure, "Oh, you’re back. Yes, I wanted to make a warm glass of milk for Zaizai and didn’t want to bother your servants, so I was fumbling around on my own, and by mistake, I ended up in the study... I’m sorry! The villa is just too big... Never mind, I’ll go downstairs and ask a servant to take care of it!"
George glanced at the Boss.
Huo Zhenyang was silent for a few seconds before speaking, "Alright, you can go down."
Liang Anya breathed a sigh of relief and quickly went downstairs.
Watching Liang Anya’s retreating back, George turned to Huo Zhenyang, "Boss, Miss Liang seemed a bit odd."
He, of course, knew something was amiss. After a glance at the ajar door of the study, he strode in.
George quickly followed, slamming the study’s light on as he entered.
The study was instantly bright.
Huo Zhenyang scanned the room but didn’t find anything obviously out of place or tampered with. However, he wasn’t ready to let it go and continued to survey the entire room.
George understood his intentions and began to search around as well.
Suddenly, George picked up something from the carpet beside the desk, "Boss, look at this!"
Huo Zhenyang took the metallic object from George’s hand and placed it under his eye for a closer look, immediately understanding what it was.
The tiny device seemed insignificant. If a cleaning person had found it, they would probably have assumed it was a metal part that had fallen off something and simply thrown it away.
But neither he nor George were unclear about what this gadget was.
It was a bug device.
"Boss, could Miss Liang have just been trying to plant this here?" George asked, surprised.
"Besides her, no other outsiders have been in this study," Huo Zhenyang said coolly.
"I’ll go and bring Miss Liang up here to find out what’s really going on!" George immediately said.
Huo Zhenyang lifted his hand in a stopping gesture, blocking George’s path.
George, not understanding, looked toward the Boss.
A glint of cunning flashed through Huo Zhenyang’s eyes, "Liang Tao is just a businessman, and Liang Anya is just an ordinary rich young lady. They wouldn’t do something like this on their own. Certainly, someone instructed her to. That person probably targeted her because she seemed close to Jiayi and thought Anya might be a threat. She must have been threatened by that person, and now if we confront her, she won’t admit it."
"So—" George instantly understood that the Boss wanted to draw the snake out the hole, "pretend... we don’t know?"
Huo Zhenyang’s lips curved slightly, revealing an enigmatic sheen, "I actually want to see who is behind this, trying to investigate me."

Liang Anya had prepared hot milk in the kitchen downstairs and hurriedly went up to the second bedroom where Zaizai was sleeping.
Huo Zhenyang was sitting by the bed, quietly watching over Zaizai, and only turned away when he heard the noise at the door.
"Mr. Huo." Liang Anya quickly placed the milk on the coffee table.
Huo Zhenyang said indifferently, "You’ve had a long night taking care of Zaizai; now that he’s asleep, you may go back home."
Liang Anya, having narrowly avoided a direct confrontation earlier that night and still shaken, with cold sweat on her back that hadn’t yet dried, nodded, "Okay, then I’ll be leaving."
Before going downstairs, she wanted to go back to the study to find the bug, but George was standing right at the door, leaving no opportunity.
The bug device was tiny and looked just like a piece of scrap metal. If a cleaning person saw it, they would probably treat it as garbage, right?
She consoled herself with this thought as she got into her car and left the villa area.
It was getting dark. Liang Anya sped up and soon entered the main road.
She still had to report to Si Yuheng in the parking garage!
That man, treating her as nothing more than a messenger to boss around, right?
She had failed her task. Wouldn’t that man do something to her father and brother?
Her heart was in her throat again.
She slammed her hand on the steering wheel and sped up toward the garage where they had met before!
Twenty minutes later, Liang Anya arrived at the garage.
Reaching the underground level, she slowed down and drove leisurely to the spot where she had parked that day.
The parking lot was silent in the dead of night.
Liang Anya looked around for a while and not finding that damned man’s voice, she impatiently honked the horn!
He asked for her to come, and now he wasn’t showing up. What on earth was Si Yuheng playing at?
