234 Anne Denver

โ€œSo what about which position theyโ€™re leaving from?โ€ Malachi said. โ€œThey didnโ€™t even talk about any sort of vehicular resource or position to escape.โ€ ๐—ณ๐—ฟ๐žโ„ฏ๐™ฌ๐—ฒ๐—ฏn๐—ผฮฝel.๐’„๐‘œ๐˜ฎ

He was right on that part. We got no information at all, so what do we do then?

But then I looked at him, and then my face instantly lit up as I thought about it. He said โ€œtransport.โ€ Meaning it would have to be a boat.

Obviously, of course, but it would be more in the factor of which there would be multiple boats so that Luthor Baneโ€™s guards could accompany the vehicle holding Matthew Lock.

So basically, a convoy.

But theyโ€™d have to be fast, and there would most likely have to be a distraction prepared. It makes a lot of sense. ๐˜ง๐˜ณ๐ž๐šŽ๐‘คโ„ฏ๐˜ฃ๐—ป๐˜ฐัตโ„ฏl.c๐จ๐š–

โ€œGuys, there is a potential answer,โ€ I said, and their heads stopped and looked at me.

โ€œWhat do you mean โ€˜potential answer? You got something?โ€ Malachi asked. I shrugged. โ€œYeah.โ€

โ€œSo then, tell us,โ€ September said, as all their eyes were keen on me. I cleared my throat, feeling the pressure like it was some presentation.

.....

โ€œSo, if Lock is perhaps leaving for Saudi Arabia, heโ€™d obviously have to be in a boat. Now, Luthor Bane would also have to accompany Lock. Luthor Bane has his own team that will come with him, meaning a bunch of boats.โ€

โ€œSo basically, a convoy of boats,โ€ September said, which I nodded in agreement.

โ€œYes, a convoy of boats. I also sense there might be some attempt at a distraction. And maybe a good one,โ€ I said. They nodded, with their hearts troubled.

โ€œSo, we need to basicallyโ€“find a convoy of boats and then get Lock,โ€ Tisiah said.

โ€œYouโ€™d be correct,โ€ I said with a smile. โ€œYouโ€™d be correct.โ€

The day was the rest of ours after we told Mr. Drails, who said that heโ€™d fix it. Now it was time for my second problem, finding Anne Denver. She was in the other building, where the actual agents were. I needed to, somehow, kidnap her, and take her away to another place.

It wasnโ€™t that simple, though. I mean, she was an actual agent!

Sheโ€™s light-years better than me, and Iโ€™m going to kidnap her. I wouldnโ€™t be surprised if I was kidnapped by her instead!

I sighed and shook my head. โ€œIโ€™m just gonna have to take a chance,โ€ I said as I walked up to the door, and then I knocked.

A few moments passed before the door opened. I heard a womanโ€™s voice say, โ€œWhat do you want?โ€

I stared at her, and she looked like she had a scar over her eye, and it was covered in a bandage. Her hair was long and brown, and she wore glasses on the end of her nose.

โ€œI want toโ€”umโ€”speak to Anne Denver. This is straight from Captain Drails,โ€ I said, feeling weird saying โ€˜Captainโ€™ instead of โ€˜Mr.โ€™

โ€œAnd why would you want to speak with her?โ€ the woman asked, which I couldnโ€™t help but stare at her. โ€œBecause itโ€™s straight from Captain Drails, as I said before,โ€ I responded, giving a quick smile to ease the tenseness.

โ€œIโ€™m not supposed to let anyone in without an appointment,โ€ the woman said, which made me roll my eyes.

โ€œI am the new intern. I donโ€™t have an appointment.โ€

โ€œWell, then Iโ€™ll have to ask you to leave,โ€ the woman said, which made me frown. I needed to do something to get past this, but this woman was not budging at all. This was gonna be hard.

โ€œWell, you can either let me in, or Iโ€™ll just wait until you call Captain Drails, who will be back in an hour,โ€ I said, and the womanโ€™s eyes widened as she said, โ€œFine, you may come in, but I need you to shut the door behind you.โ€

โ€œThank you,โ€ I said, and I did just that.

When I walked in, I found myself dumbfounded by what was ahead of me. It was this long hall, a very long hall that consisted of many pictures and decorations. The floor was blue marble though the walls were white. There were these lights that shone in the room, and there was a door at the end of the hall.

It was quiet.

It wasโ€ฆeerie.

โ€œJust walk to that end of the hall, and it should open if it recognizes you,โ€ she said. โ€œSo, have you gone through the new intern test?โ€

Confusion raced through my mind, and I turned around to look at her, โ€œUm, yes, I have.โ€

โ€œOh, good. So, I know youโ€™re a special person,โ€ she said, and I could feel my heart racing.

โ€œSpecial, thatโ€™s too much,โ€ I said with a chuckle.

The woman shook her head. โ€œNo really, youโ€™re probably sixteen and have already passed the test. Youโ€™re just like Denver.โ€ I nodded as comfortably as I could, because I was worried this would make it hard to pass.

โ€œYou know, Iโ€™m a bit curious as to why you came here,โ€ the woman said, and I took in a deep breath, โ€œI mean, Iโ€™m guessing you want to talk to her, right?โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ I said, and I felt my stomach sink, โ€œIโ€™m sorry, Iโ€™m just nervous.โ€

โ€œInterns are usually nervous, itโ€™s just how it is,โ€ the woman responded. โ€œEnd of the hall, and approach the door.โ€

I nodded, and I walked to the door, and when I opened it, I was stunned.

The door opened into a big room, which was so tall that I had to bend my neck down to see the top. It was white and lit with some kind of lighting that gave it a glow, and there was a beautiful fountain in the middle. โ€œWowโ€ฆโ€ I said with a smile. โ€œSo whereโ€™s Anne Denver?โ€

โ€œProbably in the Maxx,โ€ the woman responded. โ€œShe is crazy about that gym.โ€

โ€œYou guys call it the Maxx?โ€ I asked her, and she nodded. โ€œYep, where most of the men try to uplift themselves. Show off like the men they are,โ€ she said, and I actually laughed this time.

โ€œSo, what are we doing now?โ€ I asked, as I began walking towards the fountain.

โ€œWell, I think you should go in there and relax a little,โ€ the woman said, and I stopped. โ€œYou know, after youโ€™re done with your training, and you have time to rest.โ€

โ€œI feel so guilty for needing a break, especially since thereโ€™s no time,โ€ I said with a laugh.

โ€œDonโ€™t be, youโ€™re young and have energy to spare. Go in there, relax a bit, and enjoy yourself,โ€ she said. โ€œAnd talk to Denver about whatever. Sheโ€™s pretty nice.โ€

I nodded and soon enough, the woman left me and returned back into the hall. I was literally in the thick of the YMPA. Not the academy, but the agency. I took a deep breath, taking all of this in. Now where would the Maxx be? I walked out, seeing different buildings by the side that never was called โ€œMaxx.โ€

I looked at the doorways, and finally I found a sign that said โ€œMaxx.โ€

I smiled and went inside. Once I opened the door, the stench of sweat and Gatorade invaded my nose. Instantly I began coughing, seeing a bunch of sweaty men and women lifting weights, curling, benching, squats, all the hard stuff. You name it. Everything. There was this grass carpet that was on the floor, and there were rows of weights.

โ€œWow,โ€ I muttered, almost scared. In fact, very scared. This place looked like it could kill me.

But then I saw a man who looked like a bodybuilder, which I didnโ€™t expect, but he was tall, and his arms were as wide as my thighs. I took a deep breath, and decided to look away.

I moved over to the counter, where there was a girl sitting on a chair, eating a muffin. I approached her, and she looked up at me.

โ€œOh, hi!โ€ she said with a smile. โ€œCan I help you?โ€

โ€œUmm, yeah, Iโ€™m new. Do you know where Anne Denver is?โ€ I asked. The girl looked concerned. โ€œWhy?โ€ she asked, and I began to think of some bogus reasoning.

โ€œWell, I wanted to ask her a question, but I donโ€™t want to bother her if sheโ€™s busy,โ€ I said. โ€œSo if you could justโ€”โ€ I saw a girl with black hair get up, and instantly I felt something in my spirit hit hard. โ€œIs that her?โ€ I asked the girl, who quickly turned around, and shot eyes at her.

โ€œAnne Denver? Yeah, thatโ€™s her,โ€ the girl said with a smile. โ€œSheโ€™s a friend of mine, so I can tell you that she is not busy at all.โ€

โ€œGood,โ€ I said, as I began to follow after Anne Denver. I canโ€™t catch Anneโ€™s attention, unless this whole thing will blow over. So I couldnโ€™t talk to her. But I need to still follow her, and wait for the right time to strike. Denver walked out the door, and I quickly followed after her.

I was getting more and more nervous, thinking that I might be seen by anyone. After all, Iโ€™m following the woman whoโ€™s supposed to be my superior, and a spy! She might already know, she might already know!

I felt like I was going to faint. My heart was pounding.

I got to the end of the building, and there was a staircase leading downwards. She kept walking down until she reached ground level, but then she suddenly went around the corner. I rushed down the stairs to find her, but she wasnโ€™t there. Where was she? I looked around, seeing no sight of her, but I knew that she was close.

โ€œIโ€™m gonna go this way, you go that way,โ€ I said to myself, and I started to run around the corners. I didnโ€™t know where I was going, but I needed to find her. The feeling of fear began to slowly rise inside of me. But then I heard footsteps, and looked behind quickly.

No one.

But then I heard some coming in my direction and I looked in front of me.

No one.

She was doing something, something cleverโ€”but what? I wondered, and I turned around, and I was cornered.

I froze as I saw the wall. It seemed to be a dead end. But then, for the last time, I heard footsteps. I slowly turned around, feeling the heat on my neck, and feeling the sweat drip from my face. I turned around, and saw a fist coming at me at full speed.

I shouted, and quickly ducked under before looking behind me. It was Denver! But she looked mad, and she was already running towards me. I ran as fast as I could, and she was right beside me. I was starting to feel weak, and I needed to rest. I turned around, and quickly got out my wand. I swung towards her neck, but somehow she grabbed my wand, and pushed it away.

The force of her hand shot me to the wall, and I felt a bolt of pain course through my body. I dropped to the ground, feeling the wind knock out of me, and I fell to my knees. I heard her laughing, and I coughed as I stood up.

โ€œYou should have used your magic,โ€ I said, panting as I spoke. But then a sharp pain rang in my head, and I felt myself blackout, and I collapsed to the ground.
