SSS Awakening: I Can Steal Attributes-Chapter 42: Awakened Credit
Desther only took a brief glance toward them before his attention went back to what he was reading.
He was not surprised that Kevin was alive and kicking. After all, he knew full well the amount of force he used when he struck his shoulder earlier.
What kind of reaction Victor would show after knowing that, though, would be up to debate.
And honestly, Desther would like it to end already. He disliked trouble and would rather just spend it reading novels.
He was not the first to start the confrontation anyway.
If it does not go that way, then so be it.
Victor and his group were immediately surrounded by their classmates the moment they showed themselves.
Teacher Rosa also came into view. From her actions, though, it seemed as if Lexie did not tell her regarding what happened earlier.
At the very least, Teacher Rosa did not make mention of it as she told everyone to gather in place.
"Congratulations, everyone. I’m glad to announce that all of you were able to unlock your Profile Status successfully. Although some of you were injured, in the end, this event could be concluded as super successful. Please give each of you a round of applause," Teacher Rosa cheerfully said as she began to clap for her student’s efforts.
Seemingly affected by her speech, the students began to cheer to their heart’s content as well.
The Awakened Professional guarding the dungeon could only smile as he saw the student’s attitude.
’It’s good to be young...’ he thought.
After the speech, Teacher Rosa began to check the status of her students. Checking if any of them were experiencing pain in any part of their body. After multiple students raised their hands, Teacher Rosa made sure to treat all of them one by one.
After she was done, she announced the conclusion of this activity and told the students to exit the dungeon with their respective group.
Desther exited the dungeon along with Lexie and the other two.
Compared to earlier, the complexion of Elena and Noah seemed to have recovered. After all, they have already seen that Kevin was just fine. Lexie had already reported the matter to Teacher Rosa as well, so their worries began to fade as they returned to their usual demeanor.
Though, the two of them seemed to view Desther in a new light after what they had witnessed earlier.
On the other hand, Desther remained as usual. After all, what happened earlier was for him, just a minor event.
While exiting the dungeon, he was even thinking what kind of novel he would read next.
The novel he read earlier was great for his taste, but the number of Chapters was lacking.
He would let it marinate for a few Chapters before binge reading it in the future.
Outside the dungeon, Desther and the others once again saw the manager responsible for the dungeon.
He greeted them with a nod as the students began to appear one after the other right behind them.
Teacher Rosa and the group with three members appeared last.
They gathered once more as per the direction of Teacher Rosa.
"Alright everyone. Since this is a private dungeon, it’s only natural that you show what you manage to take inside the dungeon. For example, monster parts that can be used for alchemy materials, or any minerals you found inside. Don’t worry. Since it’s your gain, the manager would naturally not be stingy and would buy your materials with a standard market price."
Hearing that, the students were visibly elated.
This was the moment that some of the students were waiting for.
It was a known fact that, aside from dangers, being an Awakened Professional also guarantees wealth. Monster materials that could be sold could usually let an Awakened Professional earn their keep.
As aspiring Awakened Professionals, the wealth that comes with it would obviously be welcomed by the students.
Even Desther himself could not deny the fact that money could indeed make a person happy.
Most of the time, Awakened Professionals could directly go to the Professional Alliance to sell their loot.
However, loot that came from Regulated Dungeons was usually handed to the owner of the dungeon, while the dungeon owner would be responsible for buying them.
The butler, Celier, smiled at them and told them to line up.
"Alright, those students with loot can line up here so that we can tally your gains."
As the ’leader’ of their group, Lexie was the one to queue, bringing with her the goblin ears they harvested from their hunt.
And as the one recognized as a genius, Lexie naturally has the privilege to be the first to have her loot assessed.
All in all, they managed to kill the bare minimum amount of goblins that needed to be killed for unlocking their Profile Status.
Lexie handed Butler Celier the bag containing the goblin ears.
The butler received it with a smile and immediately began to inspect it.
"Four pairs of goblin ears. Judging by their length, their levels should be below level 5. For such goblin ears, a pair could be exchanged for 3 Awakened Credits. With four pairs of goblin ears, that would be a total of 12 Awakened Credits," butler Celier stated.
Lexie was already aware of the goblin ear’s value, so she was not surprised about it.
Desther has done his research as well, so the value was acceptable for him.
After the world collapsed due to the apocalypse, the monetary system also crumbled along with them.
The previous dollars almost became worthless.
During the Age of Escape, the Global Awakened Bank ,or GAB, was jointly established by the surviving nations.
With them as the guarantee, the concept of money slowly returned. Though, since paper money was easily destroyed during a battle, everyone’s wealth now mostly exists in digital forms.
Most transactions were also made this way.
Guaranteed by GAB, everyone began using the currency for their daily life and it was slowly integrated into everyone’s life.
Each Awakened Credit was comparable to 5 United States dollars before the apocalypse.
Nowadays, such money would only be enough to support a few snacks.
As for the minimum wage of ordinary workers, the rate can start from 10 Awakened Credits. Awakened Professionals with decent Talent and skills usually get paid more.
For a Combat Professional, earning 100 Awakened Credits a day was possible.
An orphan like Desther also just receives 200 Awakened Credits each month as their allowance. Fortunately, lodging was already provided by the government, so 200 Awakened Credits a month would just be enough for the daily necessity of a teenager like Desther.
Speaking of it, Desther was once again reminded of the fact that the moment he would receive the Professional Badge, the monthly subsidy given to him by the government would be stopped.
Not only that, since he was already capable enough, the lodging would also need to be returned to the government, so he must consider his lodging situation as well.
As of this moment, he still has around 50 Awakened Credits in his account. That amount should only last him for a week or two.
So being able to earn from spoils was surely a welcomed addition to him.
No matter how he wanted to read novels all day, he knew that earning money was even more important as well.
Anyway, after Lexie received the payment, she immediately beckoned for the three to come forward to receive their share.
The distribution of spoils was not complicated. They only managed to kill four, so each of them would receive 3 Awakened Credits.
Elena was not able to contain her smile as she received the notification on her phone that she got some money in her account.
Noah and Desther also received their fair share of the money.
A rare smile surfaced on Desther’s face as he saw the notification of the transfer as well.
That smile disappeared like a bubble after he recalled his upcoming bills, though.
’I need to earn some money soon and then search for a suitable and cheap place to stay.’
Desther sighed in dismay just at the thought of it.
’Damn it! I’ve got too much to do!’
Butler Celier distributed each of their well-deserved rewards.
Most of the students only managed to kill one goblin each, just enough to unlock their Profile Status.
There were also those who managed to kill more than two, while Victor and his group were the most intense and competitive.
They were actually able to kill a total of eleven goblins, earning the admiration of the whole class.
Even Teacher Rosa herself nodded her head in recognition of their efforts.
Anyway, after Butler Celier handed them their Awakened Credits, Teacher Rosa officially announced the end of this activity.
She told everyone to board the same bus, and a few minutes later, they managed to arrive on campus.
Since it was already getting late, Teacher Rosa bid her students a farewell and reminded them to be safe as always. She also told them not to neglect their studies, and especially their training.
Lastly, she told them they would only need to return to school once their Professional Badges were already ready.
And with their efficiency, she estimated that if it’s not the next day, then it will be the day after tomorrow.
The students began to make their way home as well.
Desther also wanted to go home and take some rest as well, so he did not intend to stay in the school any longer.
As usual, Desther does not plan on taking the easy route, and plans to run all the way home.
Before he could go far, though, he suddenly heard his name being called, prompting him to stop.
When he turned around, he realized that it was actually Victor and his entire entourage.
