The name of the first opponent flashed on the system screen in front of him: Valtherin. Damon’s grin widened, his crimson eyes glinting with anticipation. The next moment, his surroundings blurred as the system whisked him away to one of the many PVP arenas.

The teleportation light faded, and Damon found himself standing on a circular stone platform floating in an endless void. Cracks ran through the stone like lightning, and a ring of torches flickered around the edges.

The ambience of these arenas had always been top-notch. But Damon was already used to this. He rolled his shoulders and cracked his neck, feeling that familiar rush of adrenaline surge through his veins. He glanced across the arena just as his opponent appeared in a flash of blue light.

Valtherin, a tall, broad-shouldered warrior clad in heavy black armor that clanked with every movement. A massive greataxe rested on his shoulder, its blade shimmering with a wicked edge.

"Not bad. You got some rare gear." Damon whistled.

Valtherin smirked, his eyes hidden behind a thick visor. "So, you’re the so-called Blood God everyone’s been talking about. Let’s see if you live up to the hype."

Damon let out a low chuckle. "Oh, I don’t know about that. I don’t have that much time to waste."

Valtherin’s eyes narrowed, and the system’s notification rang loudly.

[Ding! Duel Begins.]

"Today, I will teach you a lesson you won’t forget!" Valtherin’s voice thundered, but before he could make a move, a dagger was already at his throat, cleanly slicing his neck. Damon absorbed the blood essence of the warrior before the man’s lifeless body fell with a thud.

And just like that, the match ended before it even began.

Damon cracked his neck, a slow smile curling his lips. "Nice! I was not sure if this would, but I guess it works after all."

The system screen lit up again, displaying the next name: Kael.

Kael stepped onto the arena, taller than Damon, lean but strong, with short black hair and a scar running down his left cheek. He carried a long spear that hummed with energy, the tip crackling with faint blue sparks.

Kael spun the spear easily, confidence radiating from him. "Blood God, huh?" he said, his voice calm but firm. "I’ve been waiting for this."

Damon did not even bother to respond this time around.

The system chimed:

Kael lunged forward, his spear a blur as it shot straight at Damon’s chest. However, Damon’s figure had already disappeared. In the fraction of a second, he once again appeared right behind his opponent, his dagger slicing the guy’s throat and his palm absorbing the blood essence.

Damon chuckled. He had a thousand fights lined up. His extraction efficiency was pretty high. He should at least get 300 skills or 300 upgrades from this. Maybe he needed to spend more time in the PVP building from now on.

"Next!"

The system screen flickered, bringing up the next name: Jaxon. This time it was a mage. However, the guy looked completely flabbergasted. It was almost as if he did not expect his challenge to be accepted.

Just like Damon expected, the guy spoke nervously. "Can I forfeit?"

Damon sighed, rolling his shoulders. "Spare me the excuses." His eyes glowed crimson. "Let’s get this over with."

Erik tried to raise his staff, but Damon was already in front of him. One swift motion, one clean cut, and the match was over.

Damon grinned.

The teleportation light flashed again, and the next opponent appeared, a tall guy with a sword and shield. He looked terrified.

"Can I..." the guy started.

"No," Damon cut him off, stepping forward with a smirk.
