SSS-Class Overlord: My Harem Rules the Realms (18+)-Chapter 59: The Hunting Quest.
Chapter 59: The Hunting Quest.
The clang of the gates echoed like a war drum as Ethan pushed them open with a single hand.
What met him was chaos.
The horizon beyond the west wall was painted red—fire, blood, and a sea of corrupted beasts
snarling in unison. Orcs with glowing crimson eyes and bulging veins sprinted toward the
barrier, wielding rusted axes and jagged bone spears. Their guttural bellows shook the very
stones of the city wall.
Ogres crashed through wooden barricades like living battering rams, their mutated muscles
pulsing and twitching under cracked, stone-like skin. Dark ichor oozed from splits in their barkcovered hides.
Goblins, eyes bulging with wild madness and black drool streaming from their mouths, darted
between the larger monsters like green, rabid shadows.
Packs of wolves with skeletal limbs, exposed rib cages, and black fur seething with corruption
slunk along the outer edges, snarling low like devils in a preacher’s nightmare.
And it didn’t stop there.
In the back ranks loomed horrors that no sane mind should ever conceive—beastmen twisted
into grotesque hybrids, trolls half-fused with petrified trees, and a serpentine panther trailing
black mist that left withered grass and steaming earth in its wake.
The very air writhed around them, shimmering with the heat of corrupted mana.
All infected. All wrong. All surging forward like a living tide of death.
Ethan’s eyes shone, bright with challenge and excitement.
"Now that’s what I call a damn welcoming committee."
He stepped forward and drew Warlord’s Fang, the blade singing as it left its sheath in a long,
predatory arc, glimmering black as obsidian under the burning sky.
"Time to have some fun," he muttered, lips twisting into a wicked grin. "Right, system?"
[Indeed. Activating Sub-Quest Set: "Purge of the Corrupted."]

Ethan rolled his shoulders, dark energy crackling over his skin like faint lightning. His muscles
tensed, coiling with lethal potential.
"Oh-ho... Rewards incoming. You better have a good drop rate, you stingy bastard."
Then he vanished. A ripple of shadows warped around him as he flickered forward like a living
wraith.
He reappeared in the center of the battlefield, just in time to duck beneath a goblin’s dagger
swipe.
"[Shadowstep]," he whispered, flashing behind the creature and cutting it in two with a single
smooth strike. Before its corpse even collapsed, Ethan was lunging into the next threat.
A pack of shadow wolves pounced at once, claws raking the air. Ethan twisted, graceful as
water, landing on the back of one wolf while slashing another across the throat.
He vaulted off, spinning in mid-air, his blade humming in a perfect arc.
"[Battle Focus]!"
Time lurched and slowed.
The roar of battle dropped into muffled echoes. Every twitch of a monster’s muscle, every
breath drawn in panic, every flicker of red in an ogre’s veins—he saw it all.
Ethan sidestepped a hammer blow from an ogre whose weapon slammed into the earth,
exploding stone into fragments.
He darted behind it, his sword slashing an X across the beast’s bark-armored back. Black ichor
sprayed like spilled ink.
"Too slow," Ethan murmured, his eyes cold and bright.
"[Nightmare Veil]!"
A sphere of shifting shadows burst outward from him, engulfing nearby monsters in whirling
blackness.
Orcs swung wildly, blinded and roaring. Ethan lunged in, whirling Warlord’s Fang in elegant
circles, slicing through four goblins with one wide, spinning cut.
"Hah! C’mon!" he shouted, laughter bubbling in his chest. "You all wanted this smoke, right?"
[DING! Orc Kill Count: 89/100]

He wasn’t just winning. He was performing.
Yet... even in his high, even in the wild surge of power and speed—he felt it.
Something shifted in the battlefield.
A presence. Cold. Heavy. Ancient.
A shadow deeper than any other shadow.
Instinct screamed inside him. His body reacted before his mind even processed the threat. He
leapt—high, flipping backward, drawing Warlord’s Fang back in a defensive cross-cut.
BOOOOOOM!!!
A colossal foot crashed into the place he’d stood moments earlier. Earth exploded outward in a
rolling shockwave, creating a crater fifteen feet wide.
Goblins and wolves flew through the air like rag dolls, screaming as they vanished into dust
and blood.
And then it emerged.
Like a god striding out of a volcano.
It towered over the battlefield, easily over twenty-five feet tall. Its massive body was a
grotesque blend of lava-cracked stone, gnarled bark, and jagged metal ribcage.
Three eyes glowed along its skull, each pulsing to a different, chaotic rhythm. Its breath
emerged as clouds of red mist that hissed and burned the grass beneath it.
Fangs jutted from its jaws like broken swords, while arms longer than wagon carts ended in
claws glinting like razors.
Veins of crimson mana pulsed beneath semi-transparent plates of molten stone, bathing it in
an eerie, bloody glow.
Above its monstrous head, words burned in molten red letters:
[Mutant: Vorgas, the Hollowborn Juggernaut]
[Level: ???]
[Threat Level: S+]
A guttural, seismic growl rolled out of its chest, rattling Ethan’s bones and sending cracks
spider-webbing through the already shattered earth.
Even the surrounding monsters hesitated, as though terrified of what they’d unleashed.
"...Okay," Ethan muttered, a savage grin crawling across his face. "Now that’s what I’m talkin’
about."
And then his eyes shifted.
Black shadows bled into his eyes, until the whites were gone, leaving only twin slivers of silver
glinting in obsidian pools. The world tightened around him. Time drew itself taut like a
bowstring.
He felt everything.
The shifting weight of the titan’s colossal limbs. The molten blood pulsing inside its chest. The
faint flicker of a hidden rhythm in its triple heartbeats.
"System," he murmured, never looking away, "any quest for this big guy?"

Ethan let out a long, slow exhale. His lips curled into a sharp smile. Shadows pooled around
his feet like ink.
"That’s what I needed to hear."
He crouched lower, Warlord’s Fang held in a reverse grip, the blade humming with a low,
hungry vibration.
"You’re telling me I get stronger... I get loot... and I get closer to figuring out who’s screwing
around with these corrupted cores?"
He flicked his eyes up to the towering monster, a predator’s glint in his stare.
"Perfect."
The Juggernaut let out another roar so loud that stone trembled and the clouds seemed to
ripple overhead.
Ethan smirked, tilting his head as though he were about to invite someone to dance.
"You’re all mine now, Vorgas."
And in the same breath, he vanished forward—his obsidian blade slicing the red mist like a bolt
of living darkness.
