Chapter 246: Rage

Luckily, they made it to the exit fast. Aren wasted no time. He pushed the door open and rushed out while Peter followed behind.

He came out right in the back of the main house, and instantly what he saw sent shivers down his spine. Standing there was a ton of guards, all decked out in full armor, surrounding the exit.

Peter also came out, and as he saw them, his heart sank. "Shit." He cursed under his breath. He knew that they would be here, but to see this amount? That was crazy.

The guards all pointed their spears at Aren and Peter.

’There is nothing I can do here? Unless I summon the giant to handle this, but even then, how far can I get before someone takes me down, this is a Royal Family after all, they’ll surely have their powerhouses.’ Aren thought as he scanned the environment for a way to get out.

He and Peter slowly came out, their hands on their heads as they did.

"Seems we are dead." Peter said.

"I’m not giving up until I find her, so either someone comes here, or I’ll have to head in myself." Aren stated with conviction. He had decided that he would not allow anything to stop him at this point. He was far too close.

The guards didn’t attack though, as if they were waiting for someone, and they were. They were waiting for a member of the main family.

It was a rule that unnecessary blood would not be shed on the main family house ground. That was the only reason that they were still alive as of now.

Footsteps came from the distance. The guards moved aside, allowing Kai to pass through.

The moment Aren saw him, he recognized him. He was the same person that had come during the time that he was fighting Geisha.

Kai looked at Aren and also instantly recognized Aren. He frowned slightly. "You should be at the tournament, what are you doing in the Blade family town?" He asked right away.

Aren dropped his hands and responded, "Your family took someone that’s dear to me, Athena." Aren stated.

Kai looked at him for a good amount of time, then spoke calmly. "You are crucial to humanity’s survival in the trials, so I’ll not have you killed. I’ll return you back to the tournament and you’ll forget about this place." He said in a stern voice and then looked at Peter, his eyes turning cold as ice. "As for you, you betrayed your family, you’ll be thrown in the dungeons, awaiting when you’ll be handled." He said.

Peter went pale immediately, knowing that his life was over, but suddenly Aren stepped forward. "I don’t agree with either of what you just said, sorry." Aren said.

Kai looked at him shocked. "You said what?" He asked.

"I refuse all you just said, sorry, but I’m not leaving here without Athena, and I’m also not allowing you lay a finger on him, he saved me, and I’ll do the same for him, even if it means risking my life." Aren stated.

"You don’t need to do that." Peter tried to say, but Aren ignored him, looking right at Kai.

Kai smirked and then stepped forward. A powerful aura surged from him and slammed into Aren and Peter. It was like a massive wave, extremely powerful.

Aren clenched his jaw. He refused to back away despite the force of the aura. He stepped forward, standing in defiance, refusing to show weakness.

Kai looked at him and then walked toward Aren. "It doesn’t matter how strong your will is, you can’t have your way against unbeatable power, you should know that, child. The best option for you is to leave, because when the other members of the family return, they’ll definitely not allow you." Kai said calmly.

Aren shook his head. "I’m sorry, but I’ve said it, I’ll not leave here until I have gotten Athena out of -"

Before he could finish the sentence, Kai grabbed him by the head. He looked at Aren and then pressed down. Instantly, Aren’s feet buckled, the ground cracked.

BOOM

Aren collapsed to his knee, his face was then shoved down, slamming it into the hard ground.

"I said leave, don’t make this harder than it has to be." Kai said.

Aren, who was tasting dirt, clenched his jaw. His entire body was screaming in pain right now, but he refused to stay down. He slowly stretched out his hands. Kai watched with a curious gaze to see what was happening.

Aren planted his hands into the ground hard, cracking the floor.

"I’m sorry, but, I can’t leave here... without Athena." He forced himself to say as he started pushing up, forcefully lifting himself slowly. His head was dripping with blood, his veins bulged, his entire body was screaming.

"Arghhhhhhhhhhhh." He growled, pushing himself even more, forcing his way to his feet.

Kai, whose hands were still on his head, looked at Aren, and then he let out a smile before shoving Aren harder into the ground.

BOOM!

"Ahhhh!" Aren screamed in pain as he was slammed down. Kai didn’t stop there this time. He grabbed Aren and lifted him up. He looked Aren right in the eye. "When I said leave, boy, you should have left." He said before using Aren like a rag and slamming him hard into the ground.

Aren bounced off the floor, coughing up blood. He couldn’t do anything in that state, the overwhelming power of someone that was above level hundred. It was like fighting against a mountain.

’Is this where I stop? Is this as far as I can get? I can’t even reach Athena? She is waiting for me somewhere inside this house and I’m here being tossed around.

The thought of not being able to save Athena tore through Aren’s mind again and again.

It was like a blade twisting inside his skull.

’It’s my fault.’

If he had been there...

If he had been stronger...

She wouldn’t have been captured.

Rage started building inside him.

Rage at the situation.

Rage at his weakness.

Even now, he was so close.

So close to the Blade family town.

And yet he still couldn’t reach her.

Kai continued tossing him around like a rag doll.

Each slam was harder than the last.

Boom.

Boom.

Boom.

The ground cracked deeper every time Aren’s body hit it.

Blood spread across the stone.

Finally, Kai grabbed Aren by the collar and lifted him up.

He stared at Aren’s blood-covered face for a moment.

Then he spoke calmly.

"Will you live now... or do you choose to die?"

"This is your final chance," Kai said.

For a moment, Aren hung there silently.

Then suddenly

His eyes snapped open.

They weren’t normal anymore.

They glowed deep crimson.

The Aren who had been there moments ago...

Was gone.

Something else had taken his place.

The same thing that had appeared before.

The same monster that surfaced when Aren lost control.

Soul energy began pulsing violently from his body.

The pressure changed instantly.

Kai raised an eyebrow.

Then Aren’s arm moved.

Not carefully.

Not consciously.

It moved on its own.

His hand grabbed Kai’s wrist tightly.

Aren looked him straight in the eyes.

When he spoke, his voice was distorted, low and buzzing, like something ancient speaking through him.

"Hand... over... now."

Before Kai could react

Aren twisted his arm violently.

Crack!

Kai hadn’t expected it.

A sharp jolt of pain shot through his arm, forcing him to release Aren.

Aren dropped to the ground.

The instant his feet touched the ground

He lunged.

"Know your place!" Kai roared.

He threw a punch straight at Aren.

Aren raised both hands and caught the strike.

BOOM!

The collision sent shockwaves blasting through the air.

Aren’s body was thrown backward like a stone launched from a cannon.

He slammed into the ground.

Bounced once.

Twice.

Then rolled to a stop.

Dust rose around him.

But before it even settled

Aren shot forward again, low to the ground. Moving like a wild beast.

Tendrils exploded from his back.

They twisted and stretched like extra arms, whipping forward toward Kai.

The guards reacted instantly.

Spears flashed through the air, striking the tendrils aside and deflecting every attack.

"Move away," Kai barked.

The guards immediately stepped back.

Kai walked forward himself.

Aren was already in front of him.

Aren jumped into the air, twisting his body before dropping down with a powerful kick.

Kai stepped back just in time.

The kick smashed into the ground.

BOOM!

The earth cracked open, dust blasting in every direction.

Aren didn’t stop.

He surged forward and threw a punch at Kai’s chest.

Kai blocked it easily.

He grabbed Aren’s arm

Then drove a brutal punch straight into Aren’s stomach.

The impact forced Aren to cough up blood.

But instead of showing pain

Aren twisted his body mid-air.

His leg whipped upward.

CRACK!

His kick slammed into Kai’s head.

Kai slid several meters backward.

Aren flipped through the air and landed lightly on his feet.

His glowing red eyes locked onto Kai.

Then he attacked again.

Tendrils lashed out from his back like whips.

Kai dodged them one after another, his eyes never leaving Aren.

"This kid..." Kai muttered quietly.

He had expected Aren to be strong.

But this

This was something else entirely.

Aren was still a newly awakened.

And yet right now

He was managing to touch someone above level 100.

That was something that should have been impossible.

And it shocked Kai more than anything else.
