Standing Next To You-Chapter 298: Memory of the Night
Chapter 298: Memory of the Night
The first impression Bei Sangyun had of kissing was something rare, reserved only for families. Like how Grandma Bei used to kiss her forehead when she was young. Grandma Bei had only kissed her twice in her memory, but those moments were both memorable and precious.
However, when Bei Sangyun witnessed their neighbors, the Bang couple, kissing each other, her impression changed, and she began to view it as something unpleasant to witness.
The third time she encountered kissing was when Richard trapped her in a room and forced himself upon her. The memory of him inching closer towards her with their lips almost touching was so disgusting that Bei Sangyun felt nauseated every time she recalled it.
Since then, she had developed a dread of other men coming close to her. Despite Lin Ginxian appointing a ’fiance’ for her, Bei Sangyun had never attempted to be intimate with anyone else.
Perhaps the only man who could approach her in her past life without triggering her aversion was Fei Chuan. Although he always left her feeling angry and irritated.
Bei Sangyun had never imagined that kissing could be so exciting, heart-wrenching, and wonderful.
She had kissed him once before, but it was too fleeting for her to fully savor it.
Fei Chuan’s hot breath mingled with hers, and his warm, soft lips caused her body to tremble. A sweet tingling sensation stirred in her chest, sending butterflies fluttering in her stomach.
It’s no wonder those texts say that time flows differently between lovers. It can be fast and fleeting or slow down as if time has stopped altogether.
Everything around her seemed to blur into slow motion, and the pounding of her heartbeat deafened her ears.
Despite her shock, Bei Sangyun remained still, afraid that any movement might startle Fei Chuan and make him pull away.
She closed her eyes fully, accepting Fei Chuan’s kiss. She wanted to savor the sweetness of the kiss and engraved it on her memory. Fei Chuan’s breath smelled of sake and tasted like it, but it was surprisingly sweet.
Seeing Bei Sangyun close her eyes, Fei Chuan’s gaze deepened. Slowly, he opened his mouth and nibbled on her lips, causing Bei Sangyun to stiffen and remain rigid.
He softly bit her lips twice, kissing her clumsily and inexperiencedly, as if releasing his frustration toward her.
Bei Sangyun’s fingers curled, and she held her breath, unsure of how to respond. With little experience in kissing, she didn’t know whether to bite him back or nibble on him in return.
Wanting to prolong the kiss and determined to respond, she began to open her mouth slowly when suddenly Fei Chuan, who had been so aggressive a moment ago, slid from her lips and landed on her shoulder. His head dropped between her neck.
Bei Sangyun was left hanging. She glanced at Fei Chuan and shook him gently, "Fei Chuan?"
Fei Chuan’s eyes were closed, his breath steady. He had fallen asleep.
Bei Sangyun: "...."
This guy... After acting weak, demanding her to take responsibility, and even attacking her, he had actually fallen asleep?
She wanted to kiss him more and delve into a deeper conversation about their feelings. She wanted to take responsibility.
Bei Sangyun glanced at Fei Chuan’s peaceful sleeping face and her heart melted into a pool of honey. His words echoed in her mind.
Does it mean Fei Chuan liked her back?
Bei Sangyun couldn’t hold back her smile. She kissed his soft hair affectionately, "Fine, I’ll let you rest for now. Sweet dreams, my Fei Chuan."
******
Fei Chuan dreamt of eating a soft, sweet candy. He wasn’t much of a fan of sweet candies, but this one was soft and addicting, its sweetness just right to make him crave more.
"So, you like me?" Bei Sangyun’s voice suddenly echoed in his dream. The pink, cottony candy he was eating morphed into Bei Sangyun’s form.
Bei Sangyun smirked smugly at him, "You confessed, admitted defeat, and begged me to be yours. Now, you’re mine." She leaned closer until their noses almost touched, "You devoured me, so now it’s my turn to devour you, my Fei Chuan."
Bei Sangyun’s mouth suddenly widened, her teeth turning into sharp spikes, as if she wanted to devour him whole!
"Ah, No!!!" Fei Chuan woke up with a start. The simple furnishings of the room greeted him.
Fei Chuan patted his face in alarm, relieved to find that his whole body was still intact.
It was just a dream. A nightmare.
It was quite normal for Bei Sangyun to appear in his nightmares.
Fei Chuan sighed in relief, but then a headache made him frown. His breath still reeked of sake.
Damn that game.
Fei Chuan went to the bathroom and washed his face. As he wiped his face, a memory suddenly emerged in his head.
[...It’s too late to stop.]
Fei Chuan paused, his eyes widening as the memory continued.
[...It’s useless... so take responsibility.]
Fei Chuan stared at his reflection in horror. Who was that person whining and clinging to Bei Sangyun like an abandoned puppy? That wasn’t him, right?
That... didn’t happen, right?
Fei Chuan’s heart skipped a beat. Wishing those memories weren’t true. It must be a dream.
He brushed his teeth in a daze, not believing the memory.
But no matter how much he wanted it to be a dream, the memory of yesterday night continued to pop up in his head.
The hand brushing his teeth stopped as the memory continued.
Not only did he cling to Bei Sangyun, but he... he... k-k... k-kissed her!
Thunder echoed in Fei Chuan’s head, and he staggered.
No way! Did he... Did he really lose control like that?
A knock suddenly snapped him out of his daze.
"Brother-in-law, are you awake? Breakfast is downstairs. We’ll be waiting for you."
Fei Chuan was still speechless, unable to find his voice.
"Brother-in-law?" Zhong Cheng knocked again but received no response. "Brother-in-law seems to be sleeping. Should I check in, Boss?"
Fei Chuan’s eyes widened, and he hurriedly spoke, causing the white foam on his mouth to scatter, "I-I’m awake! Don’t come in!"
There was a moment of silence from the people outside the room.
"Alright, we’ll be leaving soon, so hurry," Zhong Cheng reminded him.
Fei Chuan heard footsteps fading away and let out a nervous sigh. His heart was pounding loudly in his chest. Fei Chuan wasn’t prepared yet to face Bei Sangyun.
He looked at himself in the mirror and continued brushing his teeth, feeling worried. What was he going to do now?
Damn.
....
