Standing Next To You-Chapter 299: Do you regret it?
Chapter 299: Do you regret it?
Lin Sunji wore a strange expression as she watched Bei Sangyun place dishes on Fei Chuan’s plate and hand him a drink. She had seen this scene countless times at school, but this time, it felt strangely different and more disgusting.
How to put it?
Things weren’t like this intimate yesterday.
Bei Sangyun was being overly affectionate and cringeworthy, referring to Fei Chuan as "my Fei Chuan" in every sentence and serving him as if Fei Chuan didn’t have hands or feet.
Fei Chuan, on the other hand, remained rigid and awkward, obviously nervous, as if he were a hostage being threatened with a gun under the table.
Lin Sunji couldn’t help but comment to Fei Chuan, "Blink if you need help."
Fei Chuan and Bei Sangyun glanced at her in confusion.
Lin Sunji continued without filter, "Are you being threatened by her? What did she threaten you with?"
Bei Sangyun and Fei Chuan: "...."
Zhong Cheng was eating and almost choked.
He elbowed Lin Sunji, "Just eat."
It wasn’t only Lin Sunji who noticed the strangeness between the two; Zhong Cheng could read the atmosphere. But this was a crucial time for Boss, he needed to keep quiet and not startle the couple.
"Hey, my family and I were threatened by her as well. Who knows if she threatened Fei Chuan when she sent him back to his room? Didn’t she say she wanted to marry Fei Chuan? She must have done something to tie the knot."
Bei Sangyun was speechless at Lin Sunji’s words. This person, who hadn’t seen a condom until yesterday, knew such things like ’tying the knot.’* Well, as expected of someone who suggested to Lin Xiaoni to seduce Richard.
Lin Sunji’s words brought back a scene Fei Chuan desperately wanted to erase from his memories. His face flushed red.
"W-we didn’t tie the knot!" They had only kissed, nothing more than that!
Fei Chuan’s strong defense caught the attention of the three people at the table.
Fei Chuan felt flustered. It was very unlike him to lose his composure, but the scene from yesterday kept replaying in his head. His gaze met Bei Sangyun’s, who smiled sweetly upon meeting his eyes.
"Right, we didn’t tie the knot. But we ki--" Bei Sangyun began to boast before Fei Chuan cut her off.
"Right! Nothing like that happened! In fact... I don’t remember what happened yesterday." Fei Chuan was embarrassed to pretend not to remember, but he didn’t know what else to do.
He avoided Bei Sangyun’s surprised gaze and downed a glass of water, his back sweating cold with nervousness.
Bei Sangyun’s sweet smile froze on her face. She asked as gently as she could, "What do you mean you don’t remember? You don’t remember asking me to take responsibility?"
Lin Sunji and Zhong Cheng’s eyes widened as they looked at Fei Chuan.
’Take responsibility?!’
Fei Chuan turned his flushed face to the side, avoiding Bei Sangyun’s heated gaze. "....I was drunk...and fell asleep. I couldn’t remember," he mumbled, sounding like a scumbag.
"Hey, Fei Chuan. It wasn’t me who attacked you yesterday, it’s you who started it," Bei Sangyun’s tone shifted, her voice taking on a menacing edge. What she hated the most was pretending that it didn’t happen!
Lin Sunji and Zhong Cheng were both shocked.
’Attacked?!’
Was the ’attack’ they were talking about the same thing in their heads?
Zhong Cheng didn’t expect that Boss and Brother-in-law would progress so quickly in one night. He grabbed his plate and Lin Sunji’s, urging her to leave, "Are you finished? Come with me. I’ll buy some delicacies for our classmates."
Although Lin Sunji wasn’t finished eating, she didn’t want to hear what had happened between these two.
"Yeah, I’ll buy for my parents too," she replied, following Zhong Cheng’s lead.
The third and fourth wheels left the table hurriedly.
Fei Chuan also wanted to join them to avoid Bei Sangyun, but she didn’t give him a chance to leave.
Bei Sangyun slammed her chopsticks on the table.
Slam!
She locked her fiery gaze onto Fei Chuan’s eyes. "Are you pretending not to remember because you regretted it?"
Fei Chuan’s heart pounded in his ears. He swallowed nervously and weakly muttered, "...I don’t really remember."
"Then look at my face and tell me. Did you really not remember it?"
Fei Chuan slowly turned to face her, meeting Bei Sangyun’s unwavering gaze. His eyes couldn’t help but wander down to her lips.
He remembered those soft, sweet lips against his. How he had nibbled and bit them out of frustration.
Fei Chuan’s face reddened even further as he looked away, "...I don’t."
Bei Sangyun stared at him for a long moment, but Fei Chuan didn’t change his answer.
Seeing him avoid looking at her, Bei Sangyun felt as if her heart had plummeted from a great height, crushed by the weight of a thousand boulders, breaking into pieces.
With a heavy heart, she lowered her eyes, hiding the overwhelming disappointment washing over her.
"I see... so you regret it, huh?" she said quietly.
With that, Bei Sangyun stood up.
"I’m done eating. I’ll return to my room. Tell Zhong Cheng to come for me before we leave."
Bei Sangyun walked away leaving Fei Chuan alone at the table.
He sat there quietly for a long time.
Slap!
Fei Chuan slapped his own cheek hard, pulling at his hair in frustration, and cursed, "Fei Chuan, you fool."

The ride back home was silent and tormenting.
Glancing back, Zhong Cheng observed Fei Chuan deep in thought, sitting alone behind their seat. Then he looked ahead to see Bei Sangyun also alone, gazing out at the passing scenery.
Zhong Cheng felt puzzled. What had transpired during those few minutes to cause such a rift between them?
Boss, who wouldn’t waste a second to spend time with Brother-in-law, actually chose to not sit beside him?
What was going on?
"Wow, I think this might be the shortest relationship I’ve ever witnessed," Lin Sunji muttered. "They were disgustingly sweet before we left, but now they’re like strangers. They break up."
"Don’t jump to conclusions. Maybe they just had a minor misunderstanding."
"I doubt it’s a misunderstanding. Bei Sangyun’s threats must not have worked, so she’s declared war instead," Lin Sunji whispered, leaning closer. "Why don’t you ask Fei Chuan what his secret is for overcoming Bei Sangyun’s threats?"
Zhong Cheng: "...."
He pushed her away. "Why don’t you ask him yourself? Since you’re so curious, you might as well ask him what happened between them."
"No thanks, I don’t want to incur their wrath," Lin Sunji suddenly gave up on the idea.
Just looking at those two, although they were quiet, they seemed like bombs about to explode.
Her headache even disappeared because of the scary aura surrounding the two.ƒгeewebnovёl.com
