Star Gate-Chapter 1074: Visiting the Divine Nation Again (III)

Not only was the sun god on the scene, but the gravely injured god of prophecy appeared as well. He looked unspeakably aged and he spoke with a hint of weakness. “Zhang An, there is no need to browbeat us...”

Zhang An grew furious in turn. What did all of them mean by this?? His personality was indeed a bit softer, but at the end of the day, he’d experienced the trials and tribulations of New Martial as well. No fear had shaken his hands whether he faced their old enemies or the Heavenly Emperor!

He was only a bit more gentle and tender in comparison, that was all!

Do these divine spirits really think of me as weak and incompetent??

Zhang An’s thoughts turned to the new dao and he snorted, manifesting tremendous mental strength. A book of great dao appeared and, without further ado, exploded with an earth-shattering rumble!

The sun god and god of prophecy leapt into motion at the same time. They howled as they blocked most of the energy from the book self-detonating, but had to continuously back away from the onslaught of energy. They coughed up blood, their bodies shattered, and the void relentlessly cut into them...

The two Saint-level divine spirits felt that they were on the verge of collapse. The queen roared as her presence expanded several times over to prevent the dao book from destroying Divine Nation.

Li Hao had just been running his mouth, intending to frighten his opponents. He also stared blankly, at a loss. Damn! Zhang An really did self detonate!

Granted, it wasn’t all of him, just his dao book. But in the absence of the core origin dao, it would be very difficult to repair the book once it was broken.

“And that is all there is to you!” Zhang An said in aloof tones. “So it looks like none of you would survive if I detonate my core origin dao! Since you refuse to appreciate what is offered to you, all of you can go to hell!”

His core origin dao wobbled in the void!

By now, though the queen refused to compromise and didn’t believe that he would truly self-detonate, she had no choice but to howl, “This queen will give them to you! Stop! Li Hao, Zhang An, what is the point in both sides going down together?! The ancients of New Martial will still be alive and so will the traitors! Are you going to have all of your efforts benefit them?”

“Is that so?” Li Hao grinned in the distance. “It looks like you guys think you have the better of us after yesterday’s battle. You think you’re really something just because we weren’t willing to put everything on the line. What bullshit divine spirits are you guys??

“I simply cared too much for the New Martial seniors yesterday to have them risk themselves. But that somehow gave you the idea that we are estranged from each other! General Pagoda and Guardian Turtle, please also detonate your replicas!

“Divine Nation, you will compensate me with three divine corpses for each self-detonation. Otherwise, today will be the last day of your existence!”

Li Hao laughed and pointed around them. “Two just exploded, we killed two yesterday, and there’s also my body of the earth god to consider. Now, I’ll count to three. You can do as you wish if you don’t want to hand them over.

“The two guardians will blow themselves up, you’ll die, but I may not. If worst comes to worst, we can have the second awakening begin and let the powerhouses fight among themselves. My people are preparing to set off explosives at the Skystar mine!”

Perhaps something happened yesterday to make Zhang An willing to sacrifice even his book of great dao. Once he’s really forced into self-detonation, we’ll be hard pressed to withstand Li Hao’s followup. That’s assuming we survive the initial explosion!”

The queen set her jaw and still refused to speak. She still didn’t believe that Zhang An and the rest would self-detonate for Li Hao. It was one thing if replicas were exploding, but Zhang An was not here in replica form.

Yet, what good was her disbelief worth?

He’d already blown up his book of dao. What if he really did sacrifice himself as the situation dragged on? That was Saint-level mental strength! If that core origin dao exploded as well... Divine Nation would be in dire straits!

“Commander Li, you’ll keep your word once we give you the divine corpses, right?”

Li Hao grabbed the bodies that flew his way and inspected them. “There’s no mental brand on these...” He shook his head. “It looks like you can definitely resurrect the occupants. What a pity. We’ll leave it at this then! I couldn’t bear to actually trade Senior Zhang for you guys. How are you worthy of his greatest sacrifice?”

He roared with laughter, a stark difference from how he’d been yesterday. Today, he was the height of conceit. The Li Hao of yesterday seemed to be a completely different person.

Everyone in the sky canopy saw what had happened; they were long shell-shocked. The divine spirits and Divine Nation had paid a toll of five divine corpses so that Li Hao would retreat! Why was this?

Were divine spirits afraid of death as well? Could they not stand against Commander Li? The commander seemed to have made only one move from beginning to end!

None of this made sense!

There’d been news from the western continent before that Li Hao had failed to ambush them. Divine Nation was also spreading word, but they... looked like the ones defeated today!

If it wasn’t for that, Divine Nation wouldn’t have easily admitted defeat since they had a fair number of trump cards up their sleeves. The queen was even going to outright shatter the moon!

Zhang An’s face was pale, but he didn’t say a word. After his demonstration today, any ill feeling that Li Hao’s side might nurse toward New Martial should have dissipated. It was a small sacrifice he’d made for the future of those students who chose the new era.

Although Li Hao didn’t understand, what need did he have to explain himself to the young man? Was he worthy of so many words?

He Yong knew some of this, but he didn’t know the particulars. He frowned at the response and didn’t object further.
