Chapter 1545: Turning Around (II)

“You’re still as stubborn as ever... But this is your dao and your path. However you walk it is what is most suited to you!” Supreme Zhang didn’t say much else. This was how people were sometimes. They cleaved to their own faith and insisted on their way, ignoring all external daos, no matter how strong those might be.

These types of people either achieved nothing at all or rose up in the world. No one could be certain if the Eternal Swordsman could catch up from behind and surpass some of the notable names of the generation to become New Martial’s next seventh rank. It was very hard to say.

“Go to Celestial Pole and the others,” the supreme quickly said.

“You want me to meet the Silver Moon king?”

“Not that, I want you to excise some trouble!” responded the supreme. “The Silver Moon king does not need shelter or protection. He is walking his own dao as well and does not need our interference! But... we do need to eliminate some premier existences at an appropriate time.”

“That can be done.” The old man inclined his head after a moment of thought. “But... I’ll proceed according to my own methods. I’m aware of the situation now, just tell me where Celestial Pole and the others are. Leave the rest to me!”

The supreme didn’t say anything; light flashed from his body. The old man took stock of it—there was a dot of light in it that should be where Celestial Pole and the others were.

It was very hard to pinpoint location in the chaos and to send messages. But neither of the two seemed to be an issue for the New Martial supreme.

Supreme Zhang very rarely took the field himself; it was usually the Human King and others who did the fighting. Even the Sun God had fought more times than he did. The supreme had spent many years simply stationed in New Martial.

However, everyone understood that he was the brains behind the civilization. He was the one who directed all of its powerhouses in eroding Red Moon’s influence. He strengthened New Martial bit by bit, taking only one thousand years to raise it from the weakest of sixth rank worlds.

New Martial’s current heights had much to do with the Human King’s group and with Supreme Zhang. His command and leadership had brought New Martial into a swift rise from a newly born major world.

Only Red Moon was a viable competitor for New Martial in Red Moon Region now.

The Eternal Swordsman took note of Silver Moon’s current positioning; it wasn’t too far away from him. Of course, that was relatively speaking. He didn’t say anything and swiftly reoriented himself in the relevant direction.

The supreme must have had other plans in mind at first, but now felt that they weren’t enough, that they might encounter greater issues. The Eternal Swordsman quite trusted old Zhang’s arrangements.

It looked like the new king of Silver Moon wasn’t a benevolent sort. That made sense! If he was, he would not be the world’s new king and have been able to walk out of it.

......

Yin and Yang.

Supreme Zhang opened his eyes and looked at the sky, as if contemplating something.

“Have Senior Earth Emperor come meet me!” he suddenly said. Someone outside the door quickly answered in confirmation.

The supreme didn’t transmit a command, he sent someone for the Earth Emperor. He also addressed the other as his senior.

An elderly man walked in after a while. He was as if a farmer in the fields; there was a hint of a scholarly air around him. Or rather, he had a lazy presence about him. He sauntered in with dashing grace and entered the hall.

He sat down next to the supreme without a word and lifted a teacup for a sip. The supreme didn’t say anything either. He simply looked at his visitor.

“What is it?” asked the old man after he finished the cup of tea.

The nine emperors and four sovereigns had dominated the world before New Martial. Of them, the Heavenly Emperor held sway over core origin.

Next to him was the incomparably shrewd Earth Emperor. The emperor had swept through the world as Daoist Wind and Cloud, producing numerous exalted emperors from his discipline. He boasted of three sons, each of them premier powerhouses. His youngest son Li Zhu was once New Martial’s greatest enemy.

The birth of New Martial had much to do with this family. In the last battle, the entire family fought to their deaths and helped the Human King slay the Heavenly Emperor. Because of this, they won the Human King’s approval.

After he consolidated mastery over the world, he reversed yin and yang. He paid an enormous price to revive all those who’d fallen in battle, including even this family.

“Senior... where is Li Zhu?”

“Probably gone off to play somewhere, I don’t know.”

“I have a task for him!” The supreme smiled easily.

“Get in touch with him yourself!”

“I’m not on good terms with him... he doesn’t really pay attention to me.” The supreme smiled again. He’d crossed paths with that one many times. They fought each other tooth and nail in both might and schemes. It was well known that the two did not get along.

Although Supreme Zhang of New Martial possessed an exceedingly high reputation, that one... didn’t care for fame. He was rarely in residence at Yin and Yang.

“He ignores you? How is he that bold?” laughed the Earth Emperor.

The supreme couldn’t be bothered to explore this further and said, “There’s some news percolating in the chaos and I’m not reassured with giving regular folks this task. I’ll be more at ease if Li Zhu does it. I’d like him to represent us and visit Light major world!”

The Earth Emperor immediately sat up straight and frowned at the supreme.

“The eighth rank major world in Skyward Region?”

“Yes.”

“An alliance?” frowned the old man.

“Essentially.”

“Might not work out.”

“I know... but it’s fine if it’s even an alliance in name! Skycloud in that region also has their sights set on New Martial. Add Red Moon to the mix... we will be in a very dangerous position once battle breaks out between high ranks! We’d be facing another eighth rank major world!

“The danger would be much defused if Light is willing to help counteract Skycloud...”

“This will be hard!” the Earth Emperor said bluntly. “It’s harder than ascending the heavens to convince an eighth rank major world to ally with someone. We can offer nothing more than just talk!”

“With Li Zhu as our envoy, they won’t easily become our enemy, even he can’t sway them to our side, no?”

“You certainly trust him a lot,” laughed the Earth Emperor.

“The senior’s family is full of great talents, is it not?” The supreme was being very polite on this day.

“Very well, I’ll pass the message along,” the Earth Emperor laughed again. “But he’s not very biddable these days and doesn’t listen much to me either. He’s filled out his wings and it’s hard for me to keep him under control too. I don’t have the right to do so either, since I haven’t helped him with anything.”

The supreme didn’t mind that self-assessment. It was only to be expected. The Earth Emperor had plotted after the world for many years, diverting his attention away from his son. It was only normal that his son didn’t want to have much to do with him now.

All the same, the Earth Emperor was his father at the end of the day. His words would be good for something.

The supreme wasn’t at ease in leaving this matter in the hands of others. It was better if his old rival undertook the task.

“If he ends up not far from Silver Moon, have him visit the Silver Moon king as well,” the supreme said after some thought. “Have him judge the new king’s character. I’d like to come to some conclusions.”

“The Silver Moon king?” smirked the Earth Emperor. “You’ve raised one Fang Ping, do you want to see if you can create another one?”

“That’s not up to me,” chortled the supreme. “This one is beyond my reach. I simply want to see if he’ll become a threat to New Martial.” 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

“That serious?”

“It’s hard to say.”

“I see.” The Earth Emperor rose to his feet. “That’s it, right? Nothing else?”

“None.”

“Then I’m going.” The old man turned to leave.

“Does the senior have a hope of entering seventh rank?” the supreme suddenly said when he was almost gone. “Out of the emperors and sovereigns from the old days, I think the senior stands the greatest chance. You have rarely made any progress over these years...”

“No hope!” The old man didn’t even bother looking back. “How is it that easy to enter seventh rank? Besides, I died once before!”

“So did I...”

“You did, but didn’t Fang Ping reverse yin and yang in a different manner for those of you closer to him? He reversed your status and helped you ford the chaos tribulation. He didn’t do that for us. We have too much yang qi and too little yin qi in us. Our yin and yang is out of balance, how are we to set foot into seventh rank?”

The supreme frowned and nodded, not denying the assessment. “Fang Ping is yet to set foot into eighth rank and needs a little more to do so. If he can attempt reversing yin and yang again, he might be able to make up for it! We’ve also been searching for yang attributed worlds lately. If we can seize one, the senior won’t be too far away from seventh rank.”

“A world of utmost yang?” The old man only shook his head. It wouldn’t be that easy. They didn’t have an inkling of a clue yet, where were they to find a world of utmost yang?

There were also a lot of people waiting for a share of the spoils once such a world was located.

Reversing yin and yang ran into restrictions in the end. Another thought occurred to the old man, he paused on his way out. “Can the dao of life and death equalize an imbalance in yin and yang?”

The supreme hesitated, then shook his head. “I’m not sure. I cultivate some life and death as well, but am not a master of life and death. The Silver Moon king seems to do so, but I am unaware of the specifics.

“You can tell that to Li Zhu as well. His yin and yang are also imbalanced, so he can try and see if he can obtain more news from the Silver Moon king.”

“Is that so?” The Earth Emperor thought for a while longer before vanishing with a nod.

The supreme sank into deep thought after his visitor left, then closed his eyes to wash his hands of the entire matter. Since rumor had it that the Silver Moon king was connected to Light major world... perhaps they could gain a semi-reliable ally.

Everything could wait for the situation to develop.

“Life and death, time...”

The dao of life and death was yet to be mainstream. Even Red Moon’s side had only cultivated some abilities that could more easily provoke a chaos tribulation.

Time could also incite a tribulation.

The supreme based his hunches off of the fact that the Silver Moon king had taken action many times, but only summoned a chaos tribulation a few times. This meant... that he’d probably tapped into time.

If his dao spanned the reach of time, then the Silver Moon king wouldn’t think much of regular daos. He would either cultivate life and death, yin and yang, or space.

It was hard to train in space and the supreme was very familiar with yin and yang. The new king lacked the proper opportunities to do so.

But life and death? The new king must have experienced life and death, so this was the most likely cultivation method that he’d employed.
