Star Odyssey-Chapter 3580: There
Chapter 3580: There
Old Yu had a bitter expression on his face. While others might not know the truth, how could he be similarly ignorant? Waiting for the High Seraph to take action was nothing more than a dream. After all, the invincible being’s disciple was on Boundless.
Old Tao arrived in the Roaming South Realm with a smile on his face. He intended to extort the Phantom Reach, only to be instantly blasted away by Jiu Xian. The sudden attack nearly scared the old man to death. Why had Jiu Xian attacked him? Only the Third Boss could make a decision.
Wilderness God and the Megalith returned to the Cloudcrane Domain. This time, no one from the Primal Beastland tried to stop them. Even if there was someone strong enough to stop Wilderness God, they might not be willing to get involved. Wilderness God had broken through to the Origin realm, causing his strength to surge. Given the fact that the Grandverse Manor had already dealt with so many experts from the Primal Beastland, there was no one left to stop him.
Boundless was about to be destroyed. Who would be willing to stand up to them during their last hurrah?
Lu Tianyi collected a vast amount of wealth from the Augury Domain. Once again, someone from the Gate of Laws tried to stop him, but Lu Tianyi had also become an Ortuser. With the Law of Undoing and his own powerful strength, very few in the entire Spirit Nidus could rival the man’s power. The Zhan family was not prepared to go to war for the Augury Domain.
The Ghostfire Domain paid a price in blood without the support of Meng Sang.
The old man in the Heavencraft Domain had entered seclusion, and the others paid no attention, leaving Ce Wangtian and Astral Anura to find what they could on their own. The domain was left wide open, but Ce Wangtian and Astral Anura could not find any resources at all, and they also could not attack anyone. Those who had remained in the domain acted as if they did not care enough to fight.
To outsiders, Boundless was behaving with a sense of madness. They were already doomed, so they might as well go big.
Above Boundless, Lu Yin was in a good mood.
While the rumors were unfavorable towards Boundless, he had still managed to profit from them.
Chu Yi returned with spirit seeds and praised Lu Yin. “Your ability to adapt to whatever happens must have been learned from Loam. Even Old Yu has run out of tricks. He asked me to deliver a message to you, just so you’re aware of things.”
Lu Yin sneered. “That old man keeps scheming against me. I haven’t even been able to settle the score with him over what he pulled with the Everstone Discourse. Naturally, I already know what’s happening.”
Chu Yi smiled bitterly as he shook his head. “The truth is that whoever is behind this rumor has an agenda of their own. Be careful.”
Lu Yin nodded, as he still had not managed to find out the purpose behind the latest rumors. Just who stood to gain from it?
Failing to see the motivation did not mean that one did not exist. The less visible something was, the more that people would fear it.
Someone arrived at the Ascendant Hall, entering from a parallel universe. They approached Lan and asked the Ascendant Hall to make a decision.
Boundless’s actions were too insane, and finally, their appetite had gotten too big. Even if it was just a final bout of madness before death, it was still something that they could accept.
Lan also felt helpless. It was a joke to expect Seraph Lu to actually listen to her. He had been bold enough to try to carve on the walls of the Apex Palace. If not for the High Seraph intervening, the Apex Palace would have been defaced and utterly humiliated.
"Mistress Lan, will the Ascendant Hall really attack Boundless?" someone asked.
Everyone was waiting for an official answer. If the rumors were true, they needed to prepare. As soon as Boundless was destroyed, the factions needed to be ready to take back their spirit seeds at the first opportunity.
If the spirit seeds had already been destroyed, then they would simply seize whatever resources could be found on Boundless. Given the number of powerful experts aboard the battleship, there had to be at least a few inheritances.
This was their real purpose in approaching the Ascendant Hall.
While people felt the sting of losing their spirit seeds, they knew that the seeds could not really disappear. Even if they were destroyed, they would eventually reappear. If they were not destroyed, they could be found again. What mattered more to the factions of the Spirit Nidus were the inheritances from the Tianyuan Megaverse.
Lan refused to answer and turned to enter the Apex Palace.
There were times when additional discussion only led to greater chaos. Lan lacked the authority to speak on behalf of the Ascendant Hall. The High Seraph was the only one who could make those decisions.
For several months, resources were collected. It took some time for things to finally stabilize once more.
The thirty-six domains had tried every possible method to hide their spirit seeds. Confronted with the Grandverse Manor’s madness, all they could do was grit their teeth and endure. There was less than a year before the Day of Offering. It was fast approaching.
Aboard Boundless, Lu Yin released his inner universe and observed the landmass that appeared below him. There was a small pool of liquid, but it was only about one cubic meter in volume. This was all that remained of the trillions of spirit seeds that had been gathered during the first time, as well as the gift Lu Yin had received from the Sima Chamber of Commerce.
While Boundless had managed to gather even more spirit seeds in this second round, Lu Yin had only gained another two cubic meters of liquid, at best.
He still had no idea what use the liquid had, so he could only leave it on the landmass for the time being.
The Spirit Nidus believed that it was impossible for spirit seeds to truly disappear. The megaverse was unaware that a significant portion of its future potential had already been removed.
A broad sword shot through the universe. It was ten zhang long and three zhang wide, and it looked extremely unwieldy. The edge had no sharpness, as it was as thick as a palm. Instead of a sword, the entire thing seemed more like a wooden board that had been cut in the shape of a sword.
Atop the wide sword stood a wooden house, inside of which sat two people.
"I’m telling you, Brother, don’t panic. We’ve already escaped. You don’t need to worry, as no one will be able to track me down. You can absolutely trust my reputation! I am Er Mazi."[1]
The speaker was a young man, his face faintly marked with pockmarks, just like his name—Er Mazi.
A gray-haired middle-aged man sat across from the pockmark-faced young man with half-gray hair. The older man’s expression remained tense, and he occasionally glanced outside.
"Can’t we go any faster?"
Er Mazi shrugged. "This is as fast as this’ll move, but don’t worry."
The middle-aged man looked away and let out a long breath, his expression souring.
His name was Yue Shu, and he had served as Yue Cheng steward and was from the Sima Chamber of Commerce. Of course, he had not served as Yue Cheng’s official steward, but rather been the person in charge of Yue Cheng’s hidden resources.
Yue Cheng had been responsible for arranging escorts and transport protection for when the Sima Chamber of Commerce moved goods. There had been times when they had been attacked, and hidden resources had been marked as lost in the attacks. This was something that everyone knew. Yue Shu had been trusted so much by Yue Cheng because he had been adopted by Yue Cheng.
While Yue Shu appeared to be much older than Yue Cheng, that was due to the fact that Yue Cheng’s cultivation had been much higher and that Yue Shu was simply too weak. Yue Cheng had deliberately restricted Yue Shu’s cultivation to ensure that the man would be easy to control.
Yue Shu felt both grateful and resentful towards Yue Cheng. He had wanted to pursue the path of cultivation, only to be suppressed by Yue Cheng. Right when Yue Shu had started to grow old, Yue Cheng had abruptly died, and in the Hundred Grasses Domain no less.
Yue Shu had no idea why his adoptive father had died, but fortunately, the Sima Chamber of Commerce had no knowledge of him. Because of this, even after the company came under new management, no one managed to find Yue Shu.
Yue Cheng’s death had naturally resulted in all of his wealth passing on to Yue Shu. The man had grown so excited that he had slept with his eyes open, enjoying a bit of comfort for a time.
Then, one day while organizing some of the resources, Yue Shu had accidentally discovered the truth behind Yue Cheng’s death. The truth had terrified the man so badly that he had hid in his home for months, afraid of being found. Despite everything, he still ended up being targeted. He had no idea how others had learned about the locations where Yue Cheng had hidden his resources, but if Yue Shu had delayed for even a moment, he would have ended up dead.
It was likely that the locations had already been found by those people. Fortunately, Yue Shu had always maintained a low profile, and he only had a few acquaintances. With Er Mazi’s help, Yue Shu was in the process of escaping. He should not be found quickly, but he still wanted to hurry, hurry and escape. As for his destination, he had decided that long ago: the Hundred Grasses Domain. That was the only place where those people would not target him.
Six months passed. It was almost the Day of Offering now. Only a few months were left when the wide sword arrived in the Hundred Grasses Domain.
Er Mazi felt regretful as he reached out for Yue Shu’s hand. “Brother, we’ve enjoyed a pleasant half a year together. How about we become sworn brothers?”
Yue Shu was anxious to leave, and helplessness filled his eyes. "Let's not think about that. Becoming my brother would only bring you trouble."
"There’s no trouble at all, absolutely none! It’s just that, when I look at you, I can see that you have a special connection with this jade pendant. Honestly, over the years, every time I fall asleep, I dream of a beautiful woman whispering to me. Her expression is so shy, yet she’s so graceful, and her voice is so sweet and enchanting."
“Ahem, well, Little Brother, here’s the payment we agreed upon.” Yue Shu did bit hesitate to give Er Mazi a cosmic ring, but the man was unwilling to accept it.
“Brother, what about this jade pendant?”
“Little Brother, why don’t I give you another one? While our paths have crossed, I hope that you won’t speak of my matters to anyone. Just treat this jade pendant as my payment.” With that, Yue Shu shoved another cosmic ring at the other man without sparing so much as a glance at the jade pendant.
Yue Shu’s generosity caused Er Mazi to smile, and he warmly shook the other man’s hand. “Brother, should I wait for you?”
Yue Shu was speechless. "There’s no need for that, Little Brother. I’m not planning on leaving the Hundred Grasses Domain."
Er Mazi sighed. "Alright. Safe travels, Brother."
Yue Shu fled, hoping to get as close to the Grandverse Manor as possible.
Seeing the man flee caused Er Mazi to sigh. "What a great guy! Don’t worry, Brother, I’ll definitely keep your secret."
The next day, Er Mazi found a pair of eyes locked onto him, and they sent chills down his spine. “Where is the person you transported?”
Er Mazi immediately pointed towards the Hundred Grasses Domain. "There."
“After him!”
Yue Shu was desperate to get closer to the Grandverse Manor. The closer the better. Unfortunately, his cultivation was too weak. His strength meant that it would take him at least ten years to reach the Grandverse Manor, or even to simply see Boundless.
He regretted not asking Er Mazi to take him a bit further.
Suddenly, he stopped, chills covering his entire body. He slowly turned around. Far away, he saw a pair of eyes suddenly appear, and they were staring straight at him.
Yue Shu’s pupils shrank, his face grew pale. They were after him, and they had found him so quickly!
The distant pair of eyes were revealed to belong to a thin man. His body looked skeletal, as though he consisted of nothing but bones. The only remarkable thing about him were his eerie eyes, which radiated a terrifying coldness. Almost instantly, he was directly in front of Yue Shu, a hand already raised and ready to strike.
Yue Shu stood there, dazed and unable to move as the man attacked.
A beam of black light pierced space from the distance, a fierce attack landing on the thin man. He tried to block it out of reflex, only for his body to be pushed back several dozen meters. Once he stabilized himself, he looked over to see five people quickly approaching him. One of them had fired the black beam.
"Step aside and don’t cause any more trouble," the thin man threatened in a low voice.
Yue Shu hurriedly called out, “I’m from the Grandverse Manor! I request to meet the Third Boss!”
The thin man suddenly attacked, reaching through the void to grab Yue Shu.
The five people exchanged glances before attacking in unison. Five beams of black light shot out, stopping the thin man from moving forward. His eyes changed, and with his hand raised, his body suddenly morphed. It twisted and started to grow. Eventually, it settled into the form of a beast covered with bones. The creature charged at Yue Shu, pressing through the five black beams.
Yue Shu felt death’s touch. Not even these five people could stop his pursuer.
Suddenly, everything in front of Yue Shu turned blood red. The beast had been transformed into a bag of blood that splashed over the man, staining him red.
Yue Shu stared blankly ahead as someone shot by, surrounded by seven swords.
The five black energy converter users stared at the new figure, stunned by the attack, though not surprised. The new figure was a wandering corpse that had come from the depths of Boundless.
Ever since Ba Liu and Yi Yao had been accidentally killed, the Grandverse Manor had increased patrols to ensure that the entire Hundred Grasses Domain would be protected. The black energy converter users, those who used Ye Wu’s symbiotic corpses, the Scourge Occupation, the mechas, and various other forces were scattered throughout the Hundred Grasses Domain, constantly maintaining surveillance. There were also a few wandering corpses that had been strengthened with bone grafting.
At regular intervals, powerhouses stood guard. All of this was done to ensure that such an attack never happened again.
"Who are you? Why do you want to meet our Third Boss?"
Yue Shu stared at the five energy converter users as he slowly knelt down. "I am Yue Shu, Yue Cheng’s steward."
