Starting With SSS-rank: I Get A New Skill Every Livestream-Chapter 93: Chaos rising
Kyle heard the scream from the backside of the resort. Something terrible must have happened for that bitch to howl this loudly. And if it was released by Ethan, Amanda wouldn’t be spared either.
That was enough.
He dropped all hesitation and pulled on his usual hoodie. He had already anticipated this, so he had gone back to his room to grab it earlier.
Next, he wore his face mask and opened the window.
Taking a deep breath, he said, "Help me out, System. Use God’s Eye and find them."
[Are you sure about this, host?]
Kyle didn’t hesitate this time. "Yes... and start the stream as well." Since he was being dragged into this, he might as well give his viewers something to watch.
[God’s Eye activated.]
[Going live...]
He ignored the flood of comments that appeared instantly.
Instead, he focused on the dense forest below and the thick fog curling through it.
"It feels like I’m staring at a cloud." Just like the story described, he could barely see the forest floor.
[SnakeQueen has joined]
[SnakeQueen looks at you with a bored expression.]
Kyle’s brows rose slightly. Who now? Ever since he started streaming through the system, more and more people had begun to show up.
But he had no interest in entertaining anyone right now.
He stepped onto the extended roof and moved forward. His vision sharpened under God’s Eye. The fog thinned, the forest floor came into view, and then... two figures.
One was Clara. Panic was written all over her face as she looked around.
"ETHAN!!"
So she was searching for him.
Amanda was nowhere in sight, and that tightened something in his chest. She wasn’t on the front lines. The last he saw, Layena had been fighting alone.
’I need to look aro—’
His thoughts cut off as a faint voice reached him, followed by a familiar figure emerging from behind a tree.
Ethan.
Wounded and staggering.
Kyle narrowed his eyes, God’s Eye still active.
And with that all-seeing vision, the truth became obvious.
’That’s not Ethan...’
Beneath the illusion, he saw the real shape. A taller, broader man, similar looking to one who had stayed behind the barrier and used the EMP.
Yet Clara walked toward him without doubt.
He had fooled her.
"Come forth."
Kyle raised his hand and summoned his bow.
As he pulled the string, a golden arrow formed. He didn’t wait for Genesis to fully gather.
He released.
SHLIEEK
BOOOOOM
The arrow pierced the impostor and exploded on impact, leaving no time for a reaction, not even a scream.
His body was hurled back and slammed into a tree. His head drooped, and the spell he used to wear the mask was slowly fading away; revealing his real face.
Clara didn’t notice.
She had already turned.
Their eyes met.
And in the very next instant—
"Huh?"
Kyle raised his arm on instinct, ready to strike, but she was already too close.
DHAK
Her palm struck his chest.
The force blasted him backward, his body crashing into the window.
"Guh..." A pained groan slipped from his lips as his back hit hard.
[Host!]
He looked up.
Clara stood there, glaring at him. Her red eyes were wide, trembling, filled with tears. "H-How dare you..." Her voice shook with fury.
In her eyes, the culprit behind Ethan’s condition stood right before her.
This rogue bastard.
’Her speed is too much... use God’s Eye.’
He pulled the string again.
But before he could even raise his arms—
She moved.
His senses lagged behind his sight. Even with God’s Eye, his body couldn’t keep up.
"Tch!"
He clicked his tongue.
Too late.
Her hand wrapped around his throat.
"You’re dead today. You dared touch the one you shouldn’t have—ahh!"
Her words snapped into a cry.
Kyle’s hand struck her elbow joint with brutal precision. The impact forced her arm to fold, breaking her grip. In the same motion, he drove his fingers forward.
Straight into her eyes.
Clara staggered back, blinded.
Kyle didn’t want to hurt her too much, but—
DHAK
His kick landed on her stomach.
Enough to send her falling.
"Huh?"
Clara felt her balance give way.
Through her blurred vision, she saw him standing above, looking down at her.
She cursed under her breath.
THUD
Her body hit the ground.
Pain spread through her, falling from the first floor wasn’t a good experience. If not for the layer of Genesis wrapped around her, she would have fainted, or worse, broken something.
She was about to get up and chase after him when—
"Clara? What happened to you?"
She turned.
Ethan was walking toward her.
She blinked, stunned. "Ethan... if you are here, then..."
Her gaze shifted toward the tree.
A man lay there, someone she didn’t recognize. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"Who... the hell is that?"
Ethan shook his head. "No idea. But he looks like the one who blocked our signals."
Clara grabbed his hand and pulled herself up, steadying her balance before muttering, "Then... shouldn’t we capture him?"
Ethan nodded.
But just as they stepped forward, both of them froze.
Something was approaching.
They turned to their right at the same time.
The dense fog swallowed everything, leaving only shifting shadows.
Ethan slowly raised his hand.
Four fireballs ignited, casting flickering light into the mist.
The fog peeled back.
And what they saw made their breath hitch.
More than fifty majins.
All of them surroundings them, and very much eager for some bloodshed.
.....
Amanda’s heart pounded. She had healed Hannah, but the girl’s condition was far from stable. Her breaths came out jagged, unnatural, like each inhale scraped against something broken inside.
"Hannah... can you hear me?"
No response.
Amanda bit her lip, forcing her trembling hands to stay steady as she pressed a thick towel over the wound, securing it as best as she could. It would have to do.
The nano chips would kick in soon and stitch her wound.
But until then, Hannah was fragile. One more attack she wouldn’t survive.
Amanda couldn’t stay either. Not when Layena was Layena was facing an army out there.
She rose to her feet, hesitating only for a moment as she looked back.
Hannah lay there, pale and still.
Amanda clenched her fists and turned away.
She wanted to find Kyle. Desperately. But she had no idea where he was.
So she made a choice.
The frontline.
Her steps quickened, then broke into a run. The corridors blurred past her, the distant sounds of destruction growing louder with every second. Crashes, roars, something heavy collapsing, something screaming.
And then she reached the front.
And stopped.
Her heart dropped.
"Layena..."
The word barely escaped her lips.
The scene ahead was chaos.
The ground was torn apart, chunks of earth ripped open as if clawed by something massive. Trees lay shattered, their trunks split and burning, sparks dancing wildly in the air.
And in the middle of it all—
A storm.
A being stood at its center, wrapped in a raging halo of thunder.
Lightning coiled and lashed around it, striking the ground in erratic bursts, each impact sending shockwaves through the battlefield. The air crackled, sharp and suffocating, thick with the scent of ozone and blood.
Surrounding it—
An army.
More than two hundred majins.
Their grotesque forms shifted and snarled, eyes gleaming with hunger, bodies twitching with barely restrained violence.
And at the very center of that storm was Layena.
She was on her knees.
Her body swayed, barely holding itself upright. Blood stained her clothes, her breath shallow, her strength clearly at its limit.
It looked like even the act of staying conscious was a battle she was losing.
Amanda’s throat tightened.
All four Ghouls had appeared.
They stood apart from the rest, their presence alone enough to distort the air around them. While they enjoyed the show, their troops continued to lunge at Layena.
The circle was closing.
And Layena...
Was about to fall.
Gritting her teeth, she decided to jump into the chao and used all her strength to at least create an escape route.
However, just when she stepped forward, a hand rested on her shoulder before she pulled back.
Amanda’s eyes turned round as she heard a familiar voice reaching her ear, "Let me handle this, babe."
