Stranger Danger-Chapter 1668: Primordial Celestial Dew
“It was you, Qi Yue?”
The owner of the Celestial Market On A Cloud paid the escaping thieves or the inquiring woman no heed. He was looking at the old man with wide-eyed surprise, anger, sorrow, and other emotions. “Why was it you, Qi Yue?”
He had suspected that someone in their midst was colluding with outsiders, but never Qi Yue. It was because Qi Yue was the oldest and most trusted aide of the Celestial Market On A Cloud. He did not think that he had mistreated the man in any way either. He could not understand why the old man would betray him and the Celestial Market On A Cloud.
“Why?”
The old man named Qi Yue cracked a sneer in the face of his former compatriots’ questioning. “You should already know the answer.”
The owner looked puzzled. “What do you mean?”
“Tsk... forgot your promise to me already?”
Qi Yue taunted, “You may have forgotten, but I have not! Back then, the reward you promised me for elevating you to the status of owner is—”
“Silence!” The owner interrupted him before he could finish.
“What’s wrong? Are you afraid?” Qi Yue sneered. “You dare to do it, but you won’t allow me to say it?”
“You’re not the boss of me though. Not anymore. I’m going to tell everyone about it and let them judge who has the right of the matter!”
“You—” The owner was just about to stop him when he let out a muffled groan and looked to be in pain. The nail behind his back was screaming like a living object and slowly crawling into his body through some sort of anomalous power. Not even the owner was able to break free from it immediately.
Clearly, the nail was an extraordinarily powerful Strange Artifact.
“You’ve been hit by my Wailing Nail. You best not struggle unless you want to die.”
Qi Yue let out a cold chuckle before looking at the other elders. “The rest of you shouldn’t move either. I have installed a lot of ‘good stuff’ throughout the Celestial Market On A Cloud. Try anything at all, and what happens afterward will be your fault.”
“How dare you do this, Qi Yue! The market has not treated you poorly. How could you betray us!” An elder rebuked Qi Yue, though he refrained from recklessness.
“Are you sure?” Qi Yue looked scornful. “I have provided over a thousand years of service to the Celestial Market On A Cloud. I was loyal and hardworking. I dare say that I have never done wrong by the Celestial Market On A Cloud. But when my end was near, and I asked Liu Qin, the former owner, for the Primordial Celestial Dew to extend my lifespan, he gave me all sorts of excuses and turned me down.”
“Later, this Qian Lian promised me that he would give me the Primordial Celestial Dew if I support him in his bid for the position of owner.”
Qi Yue looked at Qian Lian furiously as he said this, “But it turns out that he is no better than the former owner. He too gave me all sorts of reasons and excuses to not give me the Primordial Celestial Dew. He refused to fulfill his promise to me.”
“How is this just? Fair? Do you really think I’m a pushover that you may exploit to your heart’s content?”
“If you’re going to break your promise, then you best believe that I’m going to ruin you for it!”
Qian Lian was undoubtedly the owner’s name.
“Hoh. The Primordial Celestial Dew?”
Man, the drama just kept flowing without end, and each episode was only more interesting than the last.
He initially thought that the Celestial Market On A Cloud was a hidden paradise where everything was peaceful and in harmony. In the end though, it turned out that it was just another place of conflict, schemes, and intrigue.
As expected, where there were humans, there was jianghu.
The most interesting tidbit they had learned so far was easily the so-called Primordial Celestial Dew.
The primordial was something that existed at or from the beginning of time, and the Primordial Celestial Dew was a natural spirit object that was born during the beginning of Primal Chaos. Containing the power of creation and beginning, those who consumed it could return to their youth and restore life to one’s body and mind. It could extend one’s lifespan by three hundred and sixty years without any negative consequences whatsoever. It was easily one of the highest grade life-extending spirit objects in the entire world.
Although they had seen many life-extending and reincarnating spirit objects in the Purple Star Palace, they all came with some caveats or negative consequences. Moreover, the greater the increase in lifespan, the more severe the limitations and consequences became. The Ten Thousand Years of Blue Sky was one such example.
The Primordial Celestial Dew was different though. Not only did it have zero limitations or negative consequences, it could be consumed multiple times without any loss of efficacy whatsoever.
In other words, one could theoretically live as long as the heavens themselves so long as they had enough Primordial Celestial Dew.
Therefore, the Primordial Celestial Dew was absolutely a priceless treasure. It was especially the dream item of someone who was nearing the end of their lifespan. Some people called it the Elixir of Immortality.
The Primordial Celestial Dew was called the celestial dew. Naturally, it wasn’t something the ordinary and mundane could obtain. Not only was there exceedingly few Primordial Celestial Dew, it was born only in places of Nature and profoundness. Only those boasting incredible fortune and favored by the world could obtain it.
As far as Ye Qing knew, the number of times the Primordial Celestial Dew appeared throughout history could be counted on two hands. Every single person who obtained it was an astounding person whose genius and achievements were remembered for ages as well.
Of course, it was possible that some people had secretly consumed the Primordial Celestial Dew without letting anyone know about it. Even so, it did not change the fact that it was rare and precious beyond measure.
In conclusion, no one knew that the Celestial Market On A Cloud possessed such an overpowered item. In fact, the elders of the Celestial Market On A Cloud themselves were wearing shocked expressions that suggested that they did not know about this.
Qian Lian looked furious. “Cease your nonsensical ramblings, Qi Yue!”
Qi Yue sneered, “You know best if I am rambling or not.”
Sensing that everyone was watching him, Qian Lian forced down his anger and retorted in a pretentious manner, “I did not evade or renege my promise to you. It’s just that the Primordial Celestial Dew is the Celestial Market On A Cloud’s most valuable treasure. Even if I owe it to you, the transference process must be done properly and according to the rules. You can’t possibly expect me to just hand you the treasure!”
“You mentioned nothing about rules and regulations when you were begging for my support, but now that you’re the owner, you immediately turn your back on me and wall me with procedures? You really think I’m a pushover, do you?”
Qi Yue scoffed. “Well, you thought wrong. If you won’t give me what I’m owed, then I’ll take it myself. In fact, I already have.”
“You took the Primordial Celestial Dew?”
Qian Lian was stunned to hear this. He scanned a certain spot with his spirit and confirmed that he could no longer sense the presence of the Primordial Celestial Dew. “Impossible! How did you know where the Primordial Celestial Dew is stored?”
Qi Yue sneered. “Did you seriously think that I spent all these years toiling in the Celestial Market On A Cloud in vain? Did you really think I’m that much of a pushover?”
Qian Lian threatened him with a dark expression, “Surrender the Primordial Celestial Dew now, and I can let you live, Qi Yue. Otherwise, you know the consequence of betraying the Celestial Market On A Cloud.”
“Consequence? Are you talking about the restrictions on my person? Or the contract I signed with the Celestial market On A Cloud?”
Qi Yue smiled disdainfully. “Why don’t you try activating either and see what happens?”
Qian Lian did not because he already tried earlier. None of them worked. Otherwise, he would have silenced Qi Yue from the beginning.
Clearly, Qi Yue had already freed himself from the restrictions planted in him and the bindings placed on him when he signed a contract with the Celestial Market On A Cloud.
He did not know how Qi Yue had done it, but the fact was he had succeeded.
