Stranger Danger-Chapter 1675: Mysterious Light

Realizing that they wouldn’t be breaking free any time soon, Ye Qing was mentally prepared to fight a manly duel against the Void Demon Spider.

Then, he saw Qiwa spitting on the spider threads and causing it to come undone as if magic.

Ye Qing was stunned to say the least. Who would have thought that the spider’s web that was immune to physical force and the five elements would be weak to a simple spit that couldn’t even drown an ant?

He couldn’t figure it out at least.

It was an indisputable fact though.

And so they effortlessly broke free from the spider’s web.

As soon as they broke free from the web, the Void Demon Spider lost all interest in pursuing them. It lay down on its web and disappeared into the void.

Just like that, they had dodged a harrowing battle.

Each time, Qiwa was able to detect or discover a threat or a Stranger before them. Each time, it was able to guide them away from it or save them from a difficult situation.

This would happen a lot more times than they cared to count.

Bringing Qiwa down here via force was absolutely the right decision.

For one, Qiwa was born and raised in Bei Yuan. No one was more familiar with its Strangers, animals, and Anomalies than it.

Two, Qiwa was a Water Demon Ape. The Water Demon Ape was born with three eyes that could glimpse the firmaments and pierce the Nether, and six ears that could hear all things. That was why Qiwa was always able to detect some threats and Strangers faster than Ye Qing or Feng Qingyou.

Thanks to Qiwa, they were able to avoid many unnecessary troubles and battles. It made this trip so much easier and safer than it would have been.

“I’m sensing something!”

They continued to trek deeper into Bei Yuan for another six hours or so. They had no idea how deep they had gone, though the bottom was still nowhere in sight. Perhaps there was no bottom at all.

It was at this moment the consciousness of King Taishan imprisoned within the Earthly Sovereign Bell suddenly reacted. It felt as if it had suddenly established some sort of connection with something.

“The spiritual treasure is down there!”

Ye Qing cracked a smile when he said this. He had no doubt that the thing King Taishan was sensing was the evil suppressing spiritual treasure.

Although the sensation was incredibly vague and weak, it proved that the so-called evil suppressing spiritual treasure actually existed, and that it was definitely stored in Bei Yuan. This was of course a delightful discovery.

“Thank goodness!”

Feng Qingyou was clearly delighted as well.

“You want to go further?”

Qiwa’s face turned blue when it heard this though. “We’re going to enter the Fiend Demons’ territory if we go deeper. They... They are terrifying. They will kill us.”

“Do you really want to do this again? Come on.”

Qiwa was reluctant, but it knew it couldn’t outmuscle Ye Qing or Feng Qingyou. It had no choice but to follow behind him with its head drooped.

At first, the sensation was weak and unclear. They had to run here and there like a headless fly trying to determine the faint whiff of food it had encountered a while ago. But the further down they went, the clearer the sensation became. Soon, they were headed straight for the evil suppressing spiritual treasure.

However, the closer they got to the evil suppressing spiritual treasure, the more frequently they ran into all sorts of strange and terrible monsters. They had encountered a mountain of rotten flesh that was overgrown with scarlet tentacles, a giant stone Buddha that was holding its head in its arms while patrolling everywhere, a sourceless red river that poured without end, a strange fish with wings as big as the sky and a body as big as the sea, a rotting but ferocious tiger with nine heads, a strange, withered goat with a head of bright flowers, and more.

There was one thing they shared in common though: They were all Fiend Demons. Yes, they were the creatures feared so much.

The Strangers on the upper levels of Bei Yuan were just as brutal and bloodthirsty as a Fiend Demon, but at least they possessed a certain level of sapience. They knew to run if they were outmatched, beg if they were outran, and fight to the death if their pleas were ignored.

These Fiend Demons were different though. Born from the filth and fiendish auras of Bei Yuan, their minds were gone a long, long time ago. They were incarnations of slaughter, destruction and death, and once they had set their sights on a prey, they would chase them to the ends of the earth. Escaping or pleading was not an option.

The Fiend Demons did not even discriminate between its own kind. If they ran into each other, they would fight each other to the death.

In fact, they had encountered many Fiend Demons battling each other on the way to the evil suppressing spiritual treasure. As no weak Fiend Demon could survive in the depths of Bei Yuan, every single Fiend Demon they encountered was at least Ancient-class.

Naturally, their battle was earthshaking and skybreaking. They were lucky that Bei Yuan was infinitely vast, because the sheer amount of battles and the sheer commotion each battle caused could have turned entire regions into ash and killed countless. Here though, they could bash the brains out of each other and not elicit a speck of reaction in the outside world.

Obviously, the battle between Fiend Demons caused a huge commotion. So, the battles often attracted more Fiend Demons into the fray. Practically every battle eventually devolved into an all-out war between multiple Fiend Demons.

It was quite the impressive sight to say the least.

Of course, this scene made it crystal clear to Ye Qing and Feng Qingyou that catching the attention of even one Fiend Demon meant an unimaginable amount of trouble.

That was why they concealed their energies and appearance and avoided the Fiend Demons with all their might.

Thankfully, the Fiend Demons were as powerful as they were brainless. Thanks to their strength and the many things they had prepared for this journey, they weren’t discovered by the Fiend Demons or embroiled in any real danger. In fact, Ye Qing felt that this was the easier and safer stretch of their journey.

“What is that?”

Over two hours later, the group suddenly noticed beams of light up ahead. The closer they got, the brighter the light became. Soon, the entire Bei Yuan was illuminated like it was daytime.

Not only that, the light was pure, bright, yang, and strong like the sun. It was the opposite of the dark and fiendish energies accumulating in Bei Yuan. The light also dispelled all dark and corrupted energies in its vicinity.

The powerful and vicious Fiend Demons were completely repelled by the light. Not a single one of them was roaming in the area.

Even Qiwa looked extremely uncomfortable and in pain when it made contact with the light.

The corpse obviously couldn’t feel pain, but it was rapidly losing corpse qi since it was a type of yin qi as well.

On the other hand, Ye Qing and Feng Qingyou felt no discomfort whatsoever. On the contrary, they felt warm and comfortable as the light washed away the fatigue, tension, and nerves they had accumulated over the past couple days.

“Is that the evil suppressing spiritual treasure?”

Feng Qingyou looked at Ye Qing. The scene before them reminded her of a lotus growing out of mud; a child born good despite their evil parents. The light was completely opposed to the darkness and corruption of Bei Yuan.

The only explanation behind this phenomenon was the evil suppressing spiritual treasure.
