Stranger Danger-Chapter 1681: Conflict
The Hundred-flavored Wind was, as its name implied, a wind. It didn’t have a solid form. When it entered one’s mouth, they would taste all kinds of flavors of humanity such as sweetness, sourness, bitterness, spiciness, and more. It was quite profound.
The Seven Ultimate Flowers could only be found on a ten-thousand-year-old elm tree. Each flower was different from each other not just in terms of colors, but also taste. Each taste was exceedingly exquisite, delicious, and rare. That was why people called it the Seven Ultimate Flowers.
However, the Seven Ultimate Flowers were highly toxic. Consuming any one flower below the Sage-stage would result in death. However, if the flowers were consumed at once, then the toxins would neutralize one another and not harm the consumer. The combination of tastes was also something out of the world.
Snow of Dreams was a kind of snow that could only be found beyond the nine heavens. The consumer would experience an inexplicable dream where they flew across all the realms, witnessed all the amazing sights, and tasted the most wonderful flavors of humanity. Hence the name.
Phantom Moon was a moon that could only be seen in water; could only exist in water. It could only be scooped using a golden basin. The water of the Phantom Moon was unspeakably delicious and indescribably profound. They said that it was a phantasmal moon of red dust that all of the world shared.
The four delicacies known together as the Wind Flower Snow Moon were created using the Hundred-flavored Wind, Seven Ultimate Flowers, Snow of Dreams and Phantom Moon as the ingredients. The unnecessary parts were removed so that only the essence remained, and the flavor was enhanced without diminishing the original flavor in every way. They were delicacies people would happily squander fortunes to enjoy again and again.
It would not even be an exaggeration to say that it was a kind of taste that should only exist in the heavens; that those who got the chance to taste it were incredibly fortunate.
The Hundred-flavored Wind, Seven Ultimate Flowers, Snow of Dreams and Phantom Moon—they were all rare and profound objects of nature. Obtaining them was hard enough, cooking them into delicacies took even more effort and time.
Therefore, it was impossible to savor the Wind Flowe Snow Moon unless they placed their order months ahead of time.
Of course, not anyone could book it either. Only the wealthy, influential, powerful, or all of the above could do so.
It wasn’t because the commonfolk were barred from booking them, of course. It was simply because they couldn’t afford it.
Each delicacy cost three thousand silver each. That was twelve thousand silver for all of them. It would cost less money to feed the silver to a pen of pigs.
Even so, the demand far outweighed the supply. The next opening was literally years away.
One might say that the Wind Flower Snow Moon was no longer just food in Xijing or even the entire Wei. It was a symbol of status. Anyone who could afford to eat them was guaranteed to be a class above the common masses.
But of course, Ye Qing and Feng Qingyou did not need to book a spot years in advance. They did not have the time to waste, nor did appetite or status meant much to them. Xiahou Zun was the one who arranged for this to happen.
Back when they departed from the imperial capital of Chu, they had requested Xiahou Zun to gather all relevant information regarding Xi Huang. That was why they were here.
As for why they asked Xiahou Zun for help, that was because Ye Qing was familiar with the man, of course. Besides, Xiahou Zun was the lord and master of the Martial Garrison. His power was great, and his status was greater. He could collect the information they needed easier and more convenient than most.
They contacted Xiahou Zun after they entered Xijing, and Xiahou Zun had told them to wait in the Four Seas Restaurant while he got everything ready. At the same time, he requested the Four Seas Restaurant to prepare the Wind Flower Snow Moon for them.
Ye Qing and Feng Qingyou didn’t turn down his offer. Xiahohu Zun was the master of the Four Seas Restaurant anyway. He could afford the cost, and they did not mind owing him one.
While savoring the food, the waiters serving them also explained how best to eat the Wind Flower Snow Moon and what they should watch out for. It was excellent service.
When they were finally done with the dishes, all of their reviews boiled down to just one word: “Delicious!”
What else was there to say? The dishes were inexplicably, indescribably delicious. No amount of words to describe how delicious they were. So, delicious was both the only word that could properly describe the dishes, and highest praise they could offer them.
Some things in life were expensive for a reason.
“Scion, we are serving guests right now! You can’t enter!” 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
“Get lost! I always eat at the Profound Blossom Room, and you’re telling me that someone has stolen my room? I must see these thieves with my own eyes!”
It was at this moment an argument broke out right outside their door. Before anyone could react, someone violently pushed open the door and stepped into the room.
The intruder was a young man in his twenties. He was wearing a set of golden purple robes and carrying a white jade folding fan. His attire looked regal and dignified, but the man himself looked pampered and arrogant. It was obvious that he was a no-good ass with more money than sense.
The young man was accompanied by a group of armed, fearsome-looking guards as well.
“Why have you come here, scion?”
The chief waiter immediately walked up to the man and saluted him.
“Chief Waiter Lingyu? Why are you here?” The young man exclaimed in surprise.
Lingyu replied smilingly, “I was ordered by the head to serve our honored guests. Anyway, can we please step out of the room before we continue our conversation, scion? This is not the place.”
“Honored guests?” The young man pretended that he didn’t understand Lingyu’s meaning and stepped around her. “That intrigues me. You must introduce these ‘honored guests’ to me, Chief Waiter Lingyu.”
“Scion! Scion, please!”
Lingyu tried to stop him, but the guards blocked her path. The short delay was enough for the young man to step inside and see something he wasn’t expecting at all. “Huh? The Wind Flower Snow Moon?”
“I thought you said that there isn’t any Wind Flower Snow Moon for the next few months, Lingyu? If that is true, then what is this?”
The young man erupted angrily, “The Four Seas Restaurant must give me an explanation today!”
Lingyu hurriedly replied, “Please calm down, scion. As I said, these two are the honored guests of our head. Please give me face this once. I promise I’ll give you a satisfactory answer later!”
“Stop trying to intimidate me with your head. Many are afraid of him, but not me.”
Disdainful, the young man walked right up to Ye Qing and Feng Qingyou. There was a flash of wonder when he saw Feng Qingyou. He asked, “Who are you? State your names, now!”
Neither Ye Qing nor Feng Qingyou paid him any attention. They continued to enjoy the Wind Flower Snow Moon.
The young man felt humiliated when he realized that no one was paying attention to him. Enraged, he slapped his palm on the table. “You dare! I am speaking to you!”
The slap was infused with true qi. It was because he wanted to shatter the table both to show off his power and ruin their meal. After all, not even he got to enjoy the Wind Flower Snow Moon. How could someone else enjoy what he couldn’t?
Eat shit, you lowlives!
However, the table did not break, and the dishes did not fall all over the place after his hand landed on the table. Not only that, his wrist had broken in half.
“Mm!!!”
The young man was stunned at first. Then, he felt the pain and tried to scream. However, for whatever reason, he could not open his mouth no matter what he tried. Therefore, only muffled groans escaped from his throat.
“Mm! Mm!”
Shocked and angry, the young man hurriedly backed to his guards’ side and pointed at Ye Qing and Feng Qingyou while grunting.
“You dare disrespect the scion! Capture them!”
The guards immediately unsheathed their weapons and pounced toward the duo like wolves or tigers.
None of the guards were weak. The captain especially was a Trueman. His mastery of the Crouching Tiger Saber Art was profound, and he was once called the Crouching Tiger in the jianghu.
Therefore, his steps alone resembled a tiger rushing out of the gate, menacing and unstoppable.
