Stranger Danger-Chapter 1693: Slaying a Flood Dragon
“It’s... it’s gone again!”
Old Guan was stunned once more. This was starting to feel like a game.
However, the crush yin riders once again came back to life under the bloody sunlight.
“I see!”
This time though, Ye Qing paid them no attention. Instead, he looked at the blood sun in the sky.
Then, he lifted his fist and threw a punch at the blood sun.
The sky moved when the punch appeared. Ghosts and gods were alarmed when the intent rose.
The sky cleared instantly as if a ghost or a god standing in the sky had physically moved all of the bloody light and the clouds away, leaving behind only a lonely blood sun in the sky.
This wasn’t the end, however. It was the beginning.
Cracks started appearing on the blood sun. Then, it shattered into pieces like a porcelain plate.
The sky darkened at the same time the blood sun shattered.
“The sun... broke...?”
Old Guan’s eyes were as wide as saucers. He would’ve believed it if someone told him that he was dreaming.
“The sun hadn’t shattered. Only the bloody sun did,” Ye Qing explained while withdrawing his fist and swinging it downward like a hammer.
Rumble!
The revived yin riders were smashed into nothingness just like that. All that was left behind on the ground was a deep fist imprint.
An invisible power was spreading inside the fist imprint. It ground it all into nothingness.
The yin riders did not revive again after that.
At the same time, as if the dark clouds were fading, and the light were breaking through its suffocating layers, what was a pitch black sky abruptly became as bright as day.
Not only that, the sunlight that landed on Old Guan’s skin this time was bright, clear, warm, and beautiful.
“It’s fine now.”
Ye Qing walked up to Old Guan and gave him a pat on the shoulder. “Go take a break, Uncle Guan. I’ll be back in a jiffy!”
“I—”
Old Guan tried to say something, but Ye Qing was already gone.
......
“Pwack!”
At the snow peak several kilometers away, as soon as the blood sun shattered, Blood Plum abruptly turned as pale as a sheet and spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.
“Dammit! He’s a Sage! Run!”
Blood Plum did not hesitate to flee as soon as she finished speaking.
To say that the punch that shattered the blood sun was scary would be an understatement. It wasn’t just a punch that only a Sage was capable of producing, it was a punch beyond the ability of an ordinary Sage as well.
She was a Half-Sage. She only needed an opportunity to become a Sage.
However, she was absolutely certain that there was no way she could survive that punch.
Such power, such pressure! She had never felt something like this even from her master, the Pingshun King.
This meant that the young man was even stronger and deadlier than the Pingshun King.
Naturally, only one thought existed in her mind right now: Flee. Flee as far away as she could. Fuck the Pingshun King and his mission. If someone thought they could do better than her, then they could take over her. She wasn’t going to do it no matter what.
“A Sage? How can he be a Sage> How is this possible?”
The middle-aged man was muttering with a dazed expression and listless eyes. He didn’t move a muscle.
They had tried looking into the duo’s identity, but they weren’t able to find out too much information. However, the Pingshun King’s heir apparent had seen them with his own eyes, and he confirmed that they were even younger than him. They also inquired many people about the duo and obtained more or less the same answer.
That was why they believed that the duo were just youngsters with a bit of background, and the reason Xiahou Zun personally attended to them was because of their seniors. Also, Xiahou Zun defended them purely because it was an opportunity to shame the Pingshun King. It didn’t have much to do with them.
That was what the Pingshun King believed as well. That was why he dispatched him to deal with them.
Just in case, they did not act recklessly and attack the duo by themselves. Instead, they heeded the Pingshun King’s order and contacted Blood Plum.
They had envisioned all kinds of possibilities prior to executing the mission. However, the one thing he never anticipated was the fact that the young man was a Sage.
He had been stupefied when he saw the young man annihilating the Blood Sun Yin Riders and shattering the blood sun in one punch. At the same time, he knew he was dead.
Even if he somehow survived today, the Pingshun King would kill him either because his investigation was an utter failure, or to silence him to prevent the Pingshun King Office from being implicated.
“No... I don’t want to die...”
However, all humans naturally desired to live. Slowly, the middle-aged man’s fears were replaced by the desire to live. So, he followed Blood Plum and ran as far as his legs could carry him.
He might die later, but he didn’t want to die now. He could think about the aftermath after he had survived this crisis. Worst case scenario, he would flee the country altogether. As a Great Trueman, there was nowhere in the world where he couldn’t lead a relatively free and healthy life.
However, he had just taken a step when he suddenly found himself struggling as if he was trapped in a quagmire.
It wasn’t just him. Everyone including Blood Plum was trapped in this strange space.
Blood Plum hadn’t given up though. She was still fighting back with all her might.
She thought she still had a chance since she was a Half-Sage with a powerful Strange Artifact that could command the yin riders.
So, she gritted her teeth and waved the banner in her hand with all her might.
Nothing happened though. The blood sun did not rise, nor did the yin riders ride.
The lack of reaction confused Blood Plum. The next thing she knew, the banner slipped out of her grasp and took to the air. She could only watch helplessly as her treasure landed on a slender, flawless palm.
When Blood Plum looked up, she saw a woman walking out of the empty space in front of her.
The woman was beautiful like a painting and transcendental like an immortal. She looked like a living celestial who had descended from the heavens.
“To think that the Blood Dragon Royal Banner would fall into the hands of someone like you. What a waste.”
A clear, gentle voice jolted Blood Plum out of her reverie. By now, the woman was standing in front of her.
“You are right, senior. This junior is virtueless and talentless. I have tainted the Blood Dragon Royal Banner with my unworthiness.”
Blood Plum could feel her knees buckling. She would have fallen to her knees and kowtowed to the celestial-like woman in front of her, but the restriction was preventing her from doing so.
Right now, Blood Plum was overflowing with terror and hatred.
She was terrified because she thought that only the young man was a Sage. However, it turned out that both the young man and the young woman were Sages.
Just one Sage was already beyond her. Two? What the fuck was she supposed to do against such overwhelming odds?
She was also brimming with hatred because that piece of shit Pingshun King swore that he had investigated these two thoroughly, and that it would take her no effort at all to kill them dead. However, this so-called easy mission turned out to be a suicide mission.
How could she not hate and resent him for it?
It was too late for terror or hatred though. The only thing she could do now—the only thing she should do—was to survive no matter the means.
The woman, Feng Qingyou, said tauntingly, “At least you have a bit of self-awareness.”
Blood Plum replied instantly, “This junior has always been self-aware.”
“Is that so?”
It was at this moment Ye Qing’s voice resounded. His voice sounded like it came from hundreds of meters away when it began, but he was standing in front of Blood Plum by the time it disappeared with the wind. “If you’re that self-aware, then why are you here[1]?”
1. Because you intentionally baited her by pretending to be weak and stupid? Not that I’m pitying her, but seriously, who would think that two unknown Sages were waiting to ambush her lol? ☜
