Stranger Danger-Chapter 1705: Black Water Divine Sect’s Conspiracy

The surviving members of the Black Water Divine Kingdom had been scheming to remove the seal on the kingdom and bring their king back. They wished to resurrect the Black Water Divine Kingdom and relive their former glory.

That was why they found the Black Water Divine Sect. They worshiped the master of the Black Water Divine Kingdom, and they addressed him as the Black Water Heavenly God. They also addressed the citizens who had transformed into Strangers as “divine children”. They performed ritual sacrifices everywhere to summon those Strangers into the human world and spread disasters.

The “divine judgment” they were talking about referred to the seal on the Black Water Divine Kingdom loosening as the era of chaos approached. The Strangers of the Black Water Divine Kingdom were continuously attacking the seals and descending to the human world to kickstart all sorts of disasters. The Black Water Divine Sect believed that this was the Black Water Heavenly God’s punishment against his betrayers, and that he would be returning very soon. They claimed that only those who worshiped the Black Water Heavenly God and converted to the Black Water Divine Sect would be able to survive its divine judgment and welcome a new humanity.

That was why the Black Water Divine Sect had been growing increasingly rampant for the past few years. Wherever a Stranger wreaked havoc, one could almost always find them lurking in the shadows. They were constantly spreading disasters, promoting their religion, and tempting souls everywhere.

Although the nations of the Western Regions plus the Fire Worship Sect and the Mara Sect never stopped suppressing and slaying the members of the Black Water Divine Sect, their efforts were fruitless. Thanks to the era of chaos, the Black Water Divine Sect had grown to become the greatest faction in the Western Regions in just a matter of years, outdoing even the Mara Sect and the Fire Worship Sect.

“The western nations are in trouble.”

Of course, this wasn’t the biggest problem.

For example, the Fish Wife that infested and contaminated the Calabash Well was summoned by a disciple of the Black Water Divine Sect. But unlike the previous incidents, they had a bigger conspiracy in mind.

He learned from the leader’s mind and memories that the head of the Black Water Divine Sect had received an oracle from the Black Water Heavenly God. It was to aid the Black Water Heavenly God in breaking through his seal and returning to the human world.

“Tell me your thoughts.”

Feng Qingyou was frowning when she listened to Ye Qing’s explanation until the end.

“If the Black Water Divine Sect is allowed to do as it pleases, and if the Black Water Heavenly God returns to the human world, then countless lives of the Western Regions would be lost!”

Ye Qing sighed. It was one thing if he didn’t know about this conspiracy, but since he did, he could not possibly overlook it.

Feng Qingyou smiled. “So? What should we do?”

Ye Qing smiled and declared firmly, “We do as we always do: pacify the evil and restore justice.”

Unsurprised, Feng Qingyou said smilingly, “When the Chief Libationist was young, he often stuck his nose where he didn’t belong and got himself into a lot of trouble. He never changed from the start until the end. One day, someone asked him this: Countless injustices are happening in the world everyday, and you are only one person. Even if your power towers above the heavens, how can you possibly handle them all?”

“The Chief Libationist laughed and replied: It is precisely because there are so many injustices in the world that I must get involved. If both you and I ignore a wrong we see, if we all choose to ignore another person’s plight and focus solely on ourselves, then how could there be justice and fairness in the world? I may be one person, but justice lives in my chest, and I will right all the wrongs I see. I may die from this, but I will never have regrets.”

“You are beginning to resemble the Chief Libationist, Joyless!”

Ye Qing chuckled. “My resolve is nothing like the Chief Libationist’s, and it may never be. The best I can do is look up to him and emulate his example.”

Feng Qingyou asked, “What is your plan?”

“The Black Water Divine Sect are conducting ritual sacrifices in a dozen regions and cities at the same time. We still have time, but the situation is critical.”

Ye Qing said after thinking for a moment, “Therefore, you, me, and the ancient corpse would need to split up.”

“Besides that, Devi Ruyi of the Mara Sect is my dependent. We can mobilize the Mara Sect to stop the Black Water Divine Sect’s conspiracy as well.”

Feng Qingyou nodded. “Let’s do as you say.”

While taking a moment to plan out their routes, Ye Qing contacted Devi Ruyi and told her what was happening.

Although the Mara Sect was a major religion in the Western Regions and boasted a tremendous base of worshipers, the Western Regions were massive, and its countries were numerous. It was also embroiled in chaos all year every year. Combined with the fact that the Black Water Divine Sect had conducted their operation stealthily and suddenly, and the Mara Sect did not notice what was happening right under their nose.

Naturally, Devi Ruyi was stunned when she learned everything from Ye Qing. Realizing that the situation was critical, she immediately notified the head of the Mara Sect about this conspiracy and mobilized her elites to suppress the Black Water Divine Sect’s operation. Legend had it that the citizens of Guifang were born from the heart’s blood of an ancient ghost god called Guifang. Because Guifang was a ghost god, he naturally loathed yang and light. So, its creations bore the same trait.

Because of this, the country of Guifang was founded in a lightless hole in the underground. The people of Guifang rarely interacted with outsiders as well. As few outsiders knew where Guifang was located, it appeared enigmatic and mysterious to most people.

Three weeks ago, a sun had risen above Guifang out of nowhere. It was so bright and dazzling that the entire country was illuminated as bright as the day.

If this was all, they could have tolerated it. As much as the citizens of Guifang loathed the light, it wasn’t unbearable.

However, the sun was a sun that never fell. It was glowing brighter and hotter with each passing day as well. Just a few days after the sun appeared, the entire country was scorching hot as if it was in flames. Countless Guifang citizens had already died under the overwhelming sunlight and heat.

Of course, Guifang wasn’t going to just sit still and perish. The queen, the preceptor and more tried everything to take out the sun. However, it was futile.

It was because the sun could be seen but not interacted with. This meant that they were unable to remove the sun and eliminate the root of the problem.

This was still fine. They might not be able to remove the sun, but surely they could avoid it?

And so the queen decided to migrate the people and leave this place temporarily. Unfortunately, that was when disaster struck again.

They realized in shock and horror that some sort of strange fog had surrounded the realm. The fog was extremely poisonous, and anyone who made contact with it would melt into a puddle of gore in just a short time. This meant that migration was not an option.

It looked like there was no hope for the people of Guifang. It looked like the only thing they could do was to die.

That was the case... until Ye Qing arrived.

Standing at the border and overlooking the thick fog that shrouded the entire Guifang, Ye Qing inhaled slightly and exhaled.
