Stranger Danger-Chapter 1706: Sun In Water

Whoosh!

Suddenly, a powerful gale blew and scattered the fog.

As the fog dissipated, a giant strange bird with a hawk’s body but a snake’s head was exposed. It was surrounded in a layer of fog and boasted a set of wings big enough to cover up the sky.

“Is it the Snake Peng?”

Ye Qing lifted his eyebrows as he watched the strange bird.

The Snake Peng was a Disaster-class Stranger. Hawk-bodied and snake-headed, the flap of its wings could kick up a thick fog, and its breathing could produce a deadly poison. Wherever it went, a thick fog spread, and deadly poison followed, killing everything in its path. It was very dangerous.

Noticing the uninvited guest, the Snake Peng flew into a rage and let out a throaty hawk’s cry. Then, it spat out a mouthful of purple fog. It was clearly poisonous.

Ye Qing’s response to the attack was to clench his fist and threw a punch.

Boom!

The fog rolled back to its owner, and the gigantic Snake Peng exploded into a shower of blood and gore just like that.

“Did he just kill the divine child?”

“Blasphemer!”

“Kill the blasphemer! Avenge the divine child!”

The instant the Snake Peng exploded, dozens of Black Water Divine Sect disciples rushed out of their shadows and charged Ye Qing. The leader was a Great Trueman.

However, Ye Qing didn’t even look at them. He simply strode toward his destination.

Every time he took a step, the disciples would shake once, and their eyes would grow a little more unfocused.

By the time Ye Qing had taken three steps, the Black Water Divine Sect disciples were right in front of him.

They didn’t attack him though. Instead, they stood where they were with demonic lotuses blooming inside their eyes like puppets.

“The Sun In Water? Interesting!”

Ye Qing muttered to himself. Without pause, he set foot inside Guifang.

After Ye Qing was gone, the Black Water Divine Sect disciples perished in both body and mind.

Although the Snake Peng was dealt with, the crisis of Guifang wasn’t completely resolved yet.

The Snake Peng had simply entrapped Guifang and prevented the citizens from leaving. What really hurt them was the sun that scorched everything.

The moment he set foot inside Guifang, Ye Qing felt a blast of scorching heat and light. A normal person would have collapsed under such an intense wave of heat and light, much less the citizens of Guifang.

For obvious reasons, everyone was hiding inside their houses, underground pits, and other dark and damp places to avoid the heat. However, this was just a temporary measure. By now, everyone was barely conscious and clinging on for dear life.

Ye Qing took a step forward and appeared in front of the palace.

“Who are you?!”

It was as if a soft cry came from the palace. Then, a pair of people flew out. They were both women.

One woman looked to be in her thirties. She was dressed in sumptuous black royal robes. She looked elegant, beautiful, and intriguing.

The other woman was very old. Her hair was completely white, and her face was covered in strange, eerie-looking patterns. In fact, they were wriggling in tandem with her wrinkles. It was spine-chilling to say the least.

The people of Guifang were predominantly female and led by women. Therefore, the younger woman was the queen, and the older woman was the preceptor. They were also Half-Sages and the two most powerful warriors in Guifang.

Right now though, they both looked and felt to be in terrible condition.

Considering their strength, they probably could have left this place if they gave it their all.

They didn’t though. It could only be for the people of Guifang.

It was too bad their efforts did not bear fruit.

“Who are you?”

The duo looked incredibly wary and nervous as they yelled at Ye Qing.

Ye Qing gave them a nod. “Calm down. I mean no harm.” 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

The hostility in their gazes didn’t fade, so Ye Qing added smilingly, “I truly mean no harm. If I did, I could have wiped you out in an instant considering your condition.”

Ye Qing revealed a hint of his aura.

“Greetings, senior!”

Shocked, the two women hurriedly bowed to Ye Qing. They believed his words. Forget that they were no match for a Sage even at peak condition, there was no need for the young man to show himself at all if he truly meant them harm.

“Be at ease. I came today to help you.” Ye Qing waved them off. “I’ve already dealt with the fog surrounding this realm.”

“Really?”

The two women were surprised at first. Then, they burst out in joy, “Thank you senior, thank you senior! We’ll organize the migration right away!”

“There’s no need.” Ye Qing looked at the blazing sun in the sky. “Taking it out would solve everything, wouldn’t it?”

“You... You want to take out that sun?” The queen of Guifang blurted out in surprise. “I’m not questioning your strength, senior, but the sun can be seen but not interacted with. It’s almost as if it does not exist. Despite trying everything we could and even using our sacred artifact, we are unable to leave so much as a scratch on the sun.”

In fact, Guifang possessed an Ancient-class sacred artifact. It was so powerful that it was on par with a second-level Sage at full activation. Despite this, they were still unable to damage the sun whatsoever. That was why they had long given up on the idea of eliminating the sun.

“The reason you failed to eliminate the sun isn’t because you lacked power, but because you were aiming at the wrong target,” Ye Qing said smilingly.

The queen and the preceptor looked confused. “What do you mean?”

Ye Qing explained, “The sun in the sky is just a reflection, not the actual sun. Like a flower in the mirror or a moon in the water, you can attack it with all the power in the world and still achieve nothing.”

“Its true body...”

Ye Qing pointed at the lake not far away for them, specifically the reflection of the sun in the lake. “... is over there. It is the Disaster-class Stranger, the Sun In Water.”

The queen and the preceptor exchanged shocked glances with each other. They had never heard of a Sun In Water before. Still, they understood Ye Qing’s explanation. He was saying that the sun in the lake was the true body, and the sun in the sky was just a reflection.”

Ye Qing made a grabbing motion, and waves began appearing on the lake surface even though there was no wind. When Ye Qing lifted his arm, the sun in the lake was forcefully lifted into the air.

Logically speaking, the flower in a mirror or the moon in a pool of water could not be touched. This one was different though.

“That’s... That’s...”

It was only now they saw that the sun had a face. It had a nose, a pair of eyes and eyebrows, and even a beard.

That’s right. The sun had large eyes, a pair of big, fat lips, a pair of white eyebrows and a beard. It looked just like a kind and benevolent old man.

“This is the Sun In Water. It’s also known as the Sun Grandpa.”

The eyes and eyebrows of the sun twitched after it was dragged out of the lake by Ye Qing. Its kind and benevolent face shifted into an expression of rage.

The sun grew bright and hot—or at least it tried to. Ye Qing dispelled its light and heat with a casual wave of his hand.

A Disaster-class Stranger, the Sun In Water was shaped like a large, round disc or a sun in the sky. Because it had an old man’s face, it was also known as the Sun Grandpa. Its true body was weak, but its reflection would appear in the sky when it hid itself in the water.

The reflection could produce a tremendous amount of heat and light just like the real sun, but unlike the real sun, the reflection could hang permanently in the sky, heating up and drying everything in its wake.

Because the sun in the sky was just a reflection, it could be seen but not interacted with. It was impossible to eliminate.

The only way to remove the disaster brought forth by the Sun In Water was to locate its true body and eliminate it. Only then would the reflection disappear.
