Stranger Danger-Chapter 1707: The Fire Worship Tribe
It sounded like it was easy to deal with. Sounded.
The Sun In Water was extremely rare, so few people knew about its existence, much less its weakness. It was difficult for people to imagine that the monstrous sun casting down infinite heat and light from the sky was actually just a reflection, and its true body was hidden somewhere in a body of water as well. Most of the time, they simply wasted their time and effort on a reflection just like the queen of Guifang.
In fact, Ye Qing himself had never heard of the Sun In Water. He only learned about it after scouring the memories of the divine envoy of the Black Water Divine Sect.
The divine envoy was the Great Trueman leading the group. He was also the culprit of this incident. A divine envoy was highly respected within the Black Water Divine Sect. It would not be an exaggeration to say that it ruled above countless and answered only to one.
The divine envoy was also very powerful. Great Truemen and Great Grandmasters were very rare even in the vast Western Regions.
The fact that the Black Water Divine Sect dispatched their divine envoy to supervise the operation showed how important it was.
Anyway, it would have taken him much longer to figure out the truth if he hadn’t learned the existence and characteristics of the Sun In Water from the divine envoy.
To that, he could only say: Thanks bro!
The next second, Ye Qing clenched his fingers. The entrapped Sun In Water shattered into pieces just like that.
The second the Sun In Water shattered, the false sun in the sky also disappeared in the blink of an eye.
After the false sun disappeared, the illuminated realm of Guifang abruptly plunged into darkness. The scorching heat that had been killing the citizens bit by bit also vanished without warning. Not only that, the entire place turned dark, eerie, and chilly as gusts of yin wind blew through the air. It was like a domain of ghosts.
Considering that this was Guifang, this was normal.
“It’s gone!”
“The sun... The sun really is gone!”
“The Guifang Divine Sovereign protects us... The Guifang Divine Sovereign protects us!”
The queen and preceptor of Guifang looked both astonished and ecstatic. Words could not describe their feelings after escaping what would have been the total annihilation of their entire nation.
It wasn’t until a long time later that they finally recalled their benefactor and hurriedly offered Ye Qing their thanks.
“Thank you so much for saving Guifang, senior! We will never—”
Before the queen could finish, she noticed Ye Qing’s appearance growing increasingly transparent. Then, it popped out of existence like a bubble.
“Did he... leave?”
It wasn’t until a few seconds later that the queen of Guifang realized that Ye Qing had truly left.
“As expected of a champion. They are as powerful as they are unfathomable!”
The preceptor sighed in admiration.
The queen in particular was wearing this unfocused, infatuated look on her face.
“Your Majesty? Your Majesty?”
“W-what?”
“Now’s not the time to be dreaming about boys! We still need to save the people and tell them what happened!”
“O-oh, right... sigh. If only we had gotten his name...”
......
Ye Qing had no idea that he had won a queen’s heart. As soon as he was done saving Guifang, he had already taken toward his next destination, the Fire Worship Tribe.
Despite the similarity in their names, the Fire Worship Tribe had nothing to do with the Fire Worship Sect. The Fire Worship Tribe was a tribe that worshiped fire. They lived in the volcanic regions of the Western Regions and forged for a living.
Legend had it that the Fire Worship Tribe possessed the bloodline of the ancient God of Fire, Zhu Rong. That was why they were heat resistant to the point where they could eat lava. They were fiery-tempered and irascible. They were also extremely powerful.
If Guifang enjoyed the cold, then the Fire Worship Tribe enjoyed the heat. They were two completely different countries. Had the Sun In Water paid them a visit, not only would they be fine, they would be so happy that snot would trickle out of their noses.
Of course, the Fire Worship Tribe was very far away from Guifang. One could even say that they lived in opposite ends of the Western Regions.
The Black Water Divine Sect chose their victims well. At first glance, it looked like the two countries were stupidly far apart from each other and would cost them far more time and effort than it was worth just to perform a ritual sacrifice to their Black Water Heavenly God. In reality, it was the opposite.
First, the country or tribe they chose boasted a middle class population.
Second, these countries or tribes were either living in isolation and so did not have much contact with outsiders, secretive and so was not known to many people, isolated and so could not call for help even if they wanted to, or did not have any especially powerful warriors and so could not defend themselves.
Third, these countries were quite far apart from each other and shared little to no connection with each other.
By conducting their operation this way, they ensured a sufficient amount of sacrifices while avoiding detection from powerful countries or sects. On the off chance they were discovered, it was likely their enemies would not make the connection. Even if they did make the connection, it would be too late for them to save these countries or tribes.
Ye Qing had to give it to the Black Water Divine Sect. It was a fantastic plan.
If they weren’t at least this smart, then the Black Water Divine Sect would have ceased to exist a long time ago.
Thankfully, Ye Qing was a Sage. Otherwise, it would have taken him three to five days just to travel from Guifang all the way to the Fire Worship Tribe, and he would definitely not be at his best.
But since he was an Aboder, it only took him four hours to cross thousands and thousands of kilometers and arrive at the Fire Worship Tribe’s domain.
The Fire Worship Tribe’s city was built in a cluster of volcanoes. It was big and rugged, dark red and mostly lightless. It was a style that oozed barbarism and savagery. They called it the Fire Worship City.
Located next to the Fire Worship City were three active volcanoes. They grumbled and smoked everyday. From time to time, lava would gush out of the volcanoes as well.
It looked stupidly dangerous and stupid to build one’s city next to not one, but three volcanoes, but in reality it was the opposite. The Fire Worship Tribe had lived here for centuries and never encountered any disaster whatsoever.
This was because the Fire Worship Tribe had used a secret art to tie the fate and destiny of the entire tribe to the three volcanoes. Therefore, the three volcanoes would never harm the Fire Worship Tribe.
Not only that, the Fire Worship Tribe could even use the three volcanoes to attack their enemies.
Therefore, the three active volcanoes were the Fire Worship Tribe’s totem and sacred objects. They were the lifelines of the entire Fire Worship Tribe as well.
If the three volcanoes were fine, then the Fire Worship Tribe would never falter. But if something were to happen to the three active volcanoes—say, if the three volcanoes went out for natural or unnatural reasons—then it was the end for the Fire Worship Tribe.
That was exactly what was happening right now.
The three volcanoes were in danger of extinguishing.
The reason they were extinguishing was quite ridiculous.
In fact, it was so ridiculous it was something that should only happen on a stage or a book.
The reason the volcanoes were extinguishing... was because of rain.
Rain was rare in the Western Regions. It was even rarer in a place like the Fire Worship Tribe.
As the Fire Worship Tribe was located in a volcanic region, there was usually no rain even once per year. But not only was it raining, it was a downpour. Not only was it a downpour, it had been raining for three weeks. Just when would it end?
The atmosphere in the tribe was gloomy to say the least.
If this was all, then whatever.
The Fire Worship Tribe might loathe rain, but they weren’t afraid of rain.
The problem was that the rain was extinguishing the three volcanoes.
For obvious reasons, this had never happened in the history of the Fire Worship Tribe. It was practically impossible.
And yet, there was no denying the reality happening right before their eyes.
The three volcanoes were the lifelines of the Fire Worship Tribe. Their prosperity wasn’t the only thing on the line here; their very existence was threatened by this disaster.
In order to resolve this crisis, the chieftain and the elders tried everything they could to dispel the rain while conducting ritual sacrifices—the non-human kind, of course—to awaken the three volcanoes.
Unfortunately, nothing they tried worked.
