Stranger Danger-Chapter 1723: What Is Going On Here?
Thang thang thang!
The turtle smacked the bowl against the edge of the pot. It sounded crisp and clear.
“Relax. I haven’t forgotten about you.”
Smiling, Sang Shou raised his wine jar and filled up the turtle’s white jade bowl.
Sang Shou then clinked his cup against the turtle’s bowl and declared, “Cheers!”
The turtle raised its head and tilted the wine inside the bowl into its mouth. A satisfied glint flashed in its eyes.
Once done, the turtle tapped the water pot once more to indicate that it wanted another bowl. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
“Wine should be savored slowly, my friend. Otherwise, you cannot puzzle out its sweetness and fragrance. Just the same, the moon should be admired slowly. Only then could one discover its appeal.”
Despite what he said, Sang Shou filled up the turtle’s bowl once more. When the turtle once again finished its drink in one gulp, Sang Shou could not help but shake his head and say, “You’re like a cow who chews on peony. What a waste of good wine!”
For a third time, Sand Shou poured wine into the turtle’s bowl, but this time he only filled about a-third of it. “This is all I have left. Drink it slowly!”
After that, Sang Shou lay down on his chair and slowly sipped his wine. He looked happy and at ease as he rocked back and forth gently.
This time, the turtle did not drain its wine in one gulp. Instead, it savored it slowly while laying its head on the edge of the pot and admired the moon together with Sang Shou.
“Hmm?”
It was at this moment Sang Shou suddenly jolted and grew serious.
It was because he just picked up a ripple of spiritual energy. It could only belong to a Trueman or a Grandmaster.
The owner of the spiritual energy hadn’t tried to conceal themselves. An ordinary person might feel nothing from the ripple, but he, a Trueman, could feel it as clear as day.
If that was all, he wouldn’t have paid it much attention. However, the consciousness felt eerie and cold to his senses. It might be a bit presumptuous, but it did not feel like the owner of the spiritual energy was a good person.
“Is it trouble?”
Sang Shou’s eyebrows furrowed deeply. The next moment, the same spiritual energy swept through the entire Long Sky Island. When it swept through his residence and specifically him, it locked onto him firmly and invasively. It did not hide its desire at all.
Sang Shou’s face was dark and brooding at this point. This was clearly a taunt. He might not be a great Trueman, but he was still a Trueman. He did not allow just anyone to trample over his pride like nothing.
He might not like trouble, but he wasn’t afraid of it.
Sang Shou got up. He was just about to ask the invader a question and defend his ownership when suddenly, the spirit left him and disappeared just like that.
“What’s going on?”
Sang Shou was confused as a matter of course. I was just about to rise up to the occasion, and the offender just... withdrew?
“Maybe they’re just passing through?”
Left with no choice, Sang Shou rubbed his nose and sat back down on his chair. He picked up his cup, took a delicious sip, lay down, and resumed his moon-watching once more.
It was at this moment another ripple swept through the area, and a spirit locked onto him.
“The fuck? Again?!”
Sang Shou shot up with a furious expression. “Wait, it’s not the same person.”
He noticed that something was amiss though. The two spiritual energies felt similar, but there were definitive differences. Therefore, they weren’t the same person.
This one came and went just as quickly as the first one. Naturally, Sang Shou was puzzled and disturbed.
“How strange...”
Sang Shou rubbed his chin and sat down. He mulled over the strange incident but could not make head or tail of it. In the end, he said to himself, “Oh, screw it. This is none of my business. Back to my wine...”
It was at this moment another spirit scanned the area.
Sang Shou’s hand shook, and his wine spilled onto the ground. This time, his expression was quite ugly.
“A third one?”
Sang Shou was internally furious, but he dared not show it. It was because this spiritual energy was clearly stronger than the previous two. It belonged to a Great Trueman. In other words, they were out of his league.
However, this Great Trueman’s spiritual energy came and went just as quickly as the last.
“There’s not going to be a fourth one, is there?” Sang Shou muttered under his breath while scratching his nose.
He didn’t think there would be a fourth. After all, Truemen and Great Truemen were hardly cabbages. Normally, one could not find one unless they went out of their way to look for them.
However, his voice was still lingering in the air when a fourth spiritual energy scanned the area, and this one was even scarier than the Great Trueman’s. When he felt it, he naturally felt small and timid like an ant looking up to the sun or the moon.
“Half... Half-Sage?”
It wasn’t until a while later that Sang Shou finally recovered from his shock. “There’s a Half-Sage too?”
Here at his Long Sky Island, he would be lucky to run into an outsider in half a month, much less a jianghu warrior.
But now, he didn’t just encounter a bunch of them, they were Truemen, a Great Trueman, and even a Half-Sage. Did his tiny temple become a scenic spot before he knew it?
“What on earth are these people doing here?”
He wasn’t narcissistic enough to think that they were looking for him, of course. After all, he was just a Trueman. There was absolutely no need to mobilize a Great Trueman, much less a Half-Sage to subdue him.
Besides, they had discovered him from the start. If they really wanted to attack him, they would not have waited until now.
Therefore, they weren’t in the area for him. They had an ulterior motive.
“Relax, they’re not here for you!”
It was at this moment an old voice rang entered his ears.
“Isn’t that obvious?” Sang Shou subconsciously answered until he realized what just happened and jumped like a startled rabbit, “W-who’s talking?!”
He looked left and right and found no one.
“Where are you looking? It’s me.”
It was at this moment the turtle turned its head and looked at Sang Shou with intelligent eyes. Its meaning was obvious.
Sang Shou’s eyes widened like saucers. “You... You can talk?”
The turtle replied indifferently, “I’ve always been able to talk.”
Sang Shou asked in a stunned voice, “How... How did I not know about this?”
He had fished up this turtle about a month ago. At the time, he thought that the turtle was pretty smart and decided to raise it. He loved caring for pets, so this was just another day for him.
Later, he discovered that the turtle wasn’t just intelligent. It enjoyed wine as well. It so happened he enjoyed wine as well, and he usually drank alone. So, he thought that the turtle would make a good drinking buddy and drank with it since.
However, he never knew that the turtle could speak. In fact, the turtle had never spoken in his vicinity.
Of course, this wasn’t important. What was important was that this turtle was one hundred percent a Stranger. On top of that, it was a talking Stranger. No talking Stranger had ever been ordinary, and he did not think that the one before him would be an exception.
“Relax, Li’l Sang Ye. If I wanted to kill you, you would have died a long time ago.” There was mirth in the turtle’s voice as the wine jar on the table slowly floated into the air. After it reached the turtle’s head, it slowly tilted sideways and poured the wine into its mouth.
Sang Shou only grew more nervous. “H-how did you know my nickname?”
Li’l Sang Ye was his nickname. Only his parents and his elders knew about it. He was over a hundred years old right now, and his parents and his elders were long dead. Therefore, the only one who knew about his nickname was him.
