Stranger Danger-Chapter 1754: See Wonder

“It’s not that the Golden Crow is meek. The boy is simply too strong.”

Old Man Turtle gave Ye Qing a long, meaningful look. “Another person could not have done what he did.”

“But of course! Big brother Ye is the best!” Lingyu declared proudly as if he was praising her, not Ye Qing.

Lingyu then looked at Ye Qing and asked eagerly, “Big brother Ye, can you command the bird to take us on a spin around the Land of Endless Day? I’m sure there are a lot of interesting places around here! Please?”

Ye Qing looked at Old Man Turtle. “What do you think, elder?”

Old Man Turtle was clearly interested. “It’s a good idea. To be honest, I am very curious about the Land of Endless Day myself.”

Although he had stayed several months in the Land of Endless Day before, most of that time was spent running away from the Golden Crows like a meek, fearful prey and enduring an inhuman amount of suffering caused by the high temperature. During that time, all he thought about was how to get the hell away from the Land of Endless Day. That was why he did not really know the Land of Endless Day.

He did not have the chance to explore the Land of Endless Day properly before, but now he did, not to mention that it might be his only chance in this lifetime. Naturally, he wasn’t going to miss it.

“Very well. Let’s explore.”

Ye Qing did not turn down their request. Gathering the evil suppressing spiritual treasures was an important task, but they could certainly afford to waste a bit of time.

“Let’s go, Goldie!”

From now on, Goldie was the Golden Crow’s name.

“Caw!”

The Golden Crow cawed and took off at high speed.

The Land of Endless Day was massive, but the Golden Crow was very swift. No danger could threaten them while they were under its protection either. Therefore, it took them only four hours or so to explore the entire Land of Endless Day except the Soup Valley.

As it turned out, the Land of Endless Day looked more or less identical for the most part except the Soul Valley.

Unfortunately, they could not enter the Soup Valley. After all, there were other Golden Crows in that place. If they went inside and encountered other Golden Crows, they would almost certainly have to fight a great battle. An unnecessary, pointless battle. So, they didn’t.

After flying around the Land of Endless Day one time, they ultimately departed the Land of Endless Day.

“Are we just going to let it go, big brother Ye? You’re not going to kill it?”

At the edge of the Land of Endless Day, Lingyu asked Ye Qing while watching Goldie leave.

“You’re just a kid. Why are you so bloodthirsty?”

Ye Qing rubbed her head and said, “Besides, we still need Goldie for the return trip. Who’s going to carry us across the Land of Endless Day otherwise? You?”

“Oh right!” Lingyu exclaimed in realization before waving her hand at the Golden Crow, shouting. “Be a good bird and wait for us to come back, Goldie!”

“This girl...”

A chuckle escaped Old Man Turtle’s mouth.

“Let’s go.”

After the group left the Land of Endless Day, they were greeted by another horizonless sea.

But unlike the sea on the other side of the Land of Endless Day where the wind was blowing, and the waves were billowing, this one was the opposite. The sea was calm, the wind was gentle, and the sky was clear and blue. They all blended together to create a magnificent picture.

Sailing through the sea felt like sailing through an exquisite painting. It was entertaining to say the least.

“What a beautiful place this is! Have we arrived at Dong Ji, Grandpa Turtle?” Lingyu lay on top of the bow and gazed at the beautiful scenery before her, entranced.

“No, we are not yet at Dong Ji. Specifically, we still need to travel east for another three days before we finally arrive at our destination.”

Old Man Turtle was also admiring the beautiful scenery before him. However, he quickly shot a warning, “I know that the scenery is beautiful, but you should not look at it for too long, lass.”

Still entranced by the beautiful scenery before her, Lingyu asked without looking back. “Why’s that?”

“Because you’ll never want to leave this place.”

Old Man Turtle explained, “This place is magical in the sense that it is beautiful like a celestial realm. There are few places in the entire human world that are like it. However, the longer you look at it, the more you’ll become entranced by its beauty. Eventually, you won’t want to leave this place ever again.”

“Even if you did leave, you will remember this place day and night. You will yearn for it to the point where you can neither eat nor sleep in peace. In the end, you will return to this place and stay here until you die.”

“Sure...” Lingyu answered carelessly, eyes still fixated at the scenery before her.

“Are you listening to me?”

Old Man Turtle bonked her on the head and snapped Lingyu out of her haze. “Ouch!”

“Does it hurt? Good. Now get back to your cabin and sleep. When you wake up, we will have arrived at Dong Ji,” Old Man Turtle said.

Lingyu took two steps toward the cabin before realizing something. “Wait a second... Why are the three of you fine?”

Old Man Turtle replied matter-of-factly, “Because we are Sages, duh.”

Seeing the puzzlement on Lingyu’s face, Old Man Turtle explained, “I’m not boasting. The charm of this place only works against people and creatures below the Sage-stage. Naturally, it does not affect us.”

“Oh. Fine.” Lingyu pouted and reluctantly returned to her cabin.

Ye Qing, Feng Qingyou and Old Man Turtle sat on the bow. They looked like they were living the life with heaven and earth as their companions, and beautiful scenery as their wine.

As the Cloud Boat continued east, and the Land of Endless Day grew increasingly distant, the sky slowly but surely turned dark. It looked as if a layer of ink had been splashed between the mountains and rivers. It did not mar the scenery though. On the contrary, it looked even more poetic and beautiful than before. Intoxicatingly so.

“The world is like a painting, and the mountains and rivers are like ink woven creations. How gorgeous!”

Although he had witnessed the vastness of Bei Yuan, the desolation of Xi Huang, the beauty of the Land of Endless Day and more, Ye Qing could not help but be stunned by the scenery before him. “Honestly, I would not mind staying here for an extended period of time.”

Old Man Turtle nodded in agreement. “Indeed. It is sublime.”

This wasn’t the first time he saw this scenery, but it was no less stunning and intoxicating an experience.

Feng Qingyou waved her hand, and thick, massive ripples that looked like splashes of ink appeared in the sky. What looked like sparks and fireflies were mixed within the darkness and the fog as well. It was fantastical.

“It’s the See Wonder...”

Caught off guard by Feng Qingyou’s remark, both Ye Qing and Old Man Turtle asked, “What’s that?”

“It is a Stranger that supposedly only exists in legends. It is formless and looks like the fog or the night. When a living being sees it, they would relax and gradually become entranced by it. They would witness the best, greatest, and most profound things in the world through it. Over time, they would completely lose themselves in it.”

Feng Qingyou said slowly, “It is profound beyond profound and wonderful beyond imagination. Hence, it was called the See Wonder.”

Realization struck Ye Qing and Old Man Turtle. “So, you’re saying that the mystical, picturesque scenery before us is all the work of the See Wonder?”

“Not all of it.” Feng Qingyou nodded her head first and shook it afterward. “It is true that the beauty of this sea is one of a kind, but no scenery is beautiful enough to make someone lose themselves in it entirely. This feeling comes purely from the See Wonder.”

“The See Wonder enhances the greatness and beauty of this scenery. This enhancement only grows stronger over time, so the scenery will look increasingly beautiful and grandiose to our eyes.”

“At the same time, See Wonder will erode our minds until we are completely drunk on this scenery, unwilling to leave. In the end, we will die here and be completely consumed by it.”
