STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 734: Go for a difficult mission
Office
Head Harold discussed Jeremy Night with Head Neil Moon. Old man Neil was surprised; he didn't expect a Beast Taming Family to disregard the face of the Association.
He was also aware of different talents. He had seen people who could contract corrupted beasts, but it was a difficult path. The corrupted beasts would influence the contractor's mind.
Despite the matching talent, the Beast Tamer would become twisted in the end. He thought it would be the same case with the young Beast Tamer named Tyson Hill.
Fortunately, nothing happened to Jeremy Night in the end. Both of them were investing in the kid's future. If they had attacked Jeremy Night, he would have definitely come to the 5th Zone to confront the Hill Family.
"Do you think they would forget the matter?" Neil asked.
Old man Neil knew about the Beast Taming forces, especially the forces who live in the first five zones. Everything was about face and survival.
"Sigh!"
"I think the Hill Family will act. But they won't act in the city. They would try to harm him in the wilderness," Harold spoke his mind.
He had witnessed this before. Everyone solves their grudges in the wilderness. Even the City Governors can't do anything about it.
They thought about the big picture. Their greater threats were corrupted beasts and unexplored regions. They really didn't want to get involved in this type of matter.
Then, both the Heads made a decision to monitor the activities of the Hill Family. Though they couldn't act directly, they could hire someone to do the job.
…
Red Moon Chamber
Jeremy Night was involved in practice in the following days. He went to the Association a few days back to learn about the mission status.
Fortunately, he was not barred from selecting missions. The previous mission was canceled by the higher-ups, so he could select missions from the start.
Jeremy was relieved. He wanted to spend a few more days practicing before doing missions.
A few days later,
Jeremy Night felt it was time to enter the wilderness. He was not only training these days, but he had also wanted to see if anyone would trouble him.
But his fears were for nothing. No one came to bother him. He thought Head Harold had done something behind his back. He didn't give advice for nothing; he really solved the problem.
Jeremy Night then got ready before leaving the room. He came to the lobby and texted Sister Melinda about his purpose. He was going to take the wilderness mission again.
Before leaving, he had a small chat with the office staff before walking out of the building. It had been some time since he joined.
He had a good conversation with the working staff a couple of days ago, and since then, they had developed a good rapport.
Jeremy then found a cab driver and told him his destination.
20 minutes later,
He was once again in front of the Association building. He walked into the building and went to the mission hall directly.
He was used to coming here, so he knew all the important places. After coming to the mission hall, he stood in line.
One by one, the teams accepted their missions and left the hall. Jeremy was observing the staff from behind. Suddenly, he felt a pricking sensation as if someone had intentionally set their gaze on him.
He suddenly turned around and saw that one of the middle-aged staff members was clearly looking at him. He looked happy and excited.
But it sent him a bad signal. Why would someone unknown be happy about seeing him? Jeremy didn't react, but he smelled a conspiracy. He ignored the middle-aged man and waited for his opportunity to come.
The middle-aged man left the place and entered one of the rooms. He then picked up a device and phoned Head Robert of the Hill Family.
When his call was answered, he told Head Robert about Jeremy Night. Robert was happy; he was waiting for this opportunity.
He told the staff to change the mission. They had prepared several missions for Jeremy Night. All of them were easy missions with huge rewards.
They believed that Jeremy Night would pick one of the missions. The staff agreed and promised to do the job before ending the call.
It didn't take long for Jeremy Night's turn to come. He walked forward to the staff. The staff was none other than the same middle-aged man.
His eyes gleamed with a twinkle. He was right; there was something going on here. But he didn't react immediately. He stated his purpose: he wanted a solo mission.
The middle-aged staff smiled and said, "You have come at the right time. We have updated many solo missions today."
After saying that, he showed many solo missions on the device. Jeremy accepted the device and began to go through it.
[Mission 1: Hunt Tier-2 Corrupted Beasts and collect their corpses. Min qty: 10. Day limit: 7 days. Reward: 50,000 Credits.]
[Mission 2: Clear out the habitat of the Tier-2 Hybrid Dogs. Day Limit: 7 days. Reward: 100,000 Credit points.]
[Mission 3: Collect the herbal plants required for medicine. No specific grade. Day limit: 7 days. Reward: 50,000 Credit points.]
Jeremy went through the mission descriptions one by one, but he found something wrong. The missions were easy with rich rewards. Anyone with Tier-3 strength could do the mission.
The first mission, especially, set off alarm bells. He knew that the Association didn't care about Tier-2 Corrupted Beasts.
Not only the Association, but the other forces didn't care about the Tier-2 beasts either. They were left out for a reason: they are food for higher-tier corrupted beasts.
If the Tier-2 beasts were all wiped out, it could cause unwanted problems. So, he smelled something fishy. The middle-aged man's face was full of smiles, as if he were sure that Jeremy would select the mission.
But Jeremy decided not to do that. He skipped the easy missions and went for the difficult one.
[Mission 25: Survey and map the habitat of the Tier-4 Nutria Swamp beast. Location: Dark Swamp, inner area. Day limit: 5 days. Reward: 30,000 Credit points.]
Jeremy found this mission to be credible. He didn't think there was trickery behind this mission. He decided to do it. It was a survey mission, and he could complete it within 5 days.
