Strongest Demigod System-Chapter 40: Personal Best
At this point, some of the people in the gym were already watching Azrael discretely to see if he would be able to carry that much weight. Some of the first years couldn't use that much weight even on the leg press, so seeing Azrael trying to bench it was definitely something that would draw attention.
Azrael grabbed the weight and grunted as he lifted it off the rack before he started to bench it! There was a bit of a vibration in his arm as he lifted and brought the weight down, but that wasn't enough to stop Azrael from easily finishing the set! He lifted the weight back up as Maddison reached the ten count and dropped it on the rack before releasing a loud sigh and sitting up!
"Wow."
Maddison could only voice a single word after watching Azrael work out. Azrael turned around to see her smiling at him and he wondered what was going on with her. Azrael asked her if everything was alright and she nodded.
"That was amazing. You benched three hundred kilos more than your personal best! How's that even possible!?"
Azrael just chuckled. Azrael could actually bench a lot more than that. If he really tried, he could likely take that weight up to one thousand five hundred kilos, but he decided against it since he already had enough of a workout for that day. He didn't need to keep going until failure.
Azrael cleaned his neck with his own towel and asked Maddison if she was rested enough for them to start on another machine. Maddison nodded and the both of them moved to one of the leg press machines in the gym.
At the end of it all, Maddison felt like her body was about to give up on her. She was walking funny and there was a shock going through her body every time she took a step. Maddison had only managed to carry 1100kg [2400 lbs] on the leg press, and that was two hundred kilos more than her former personal best. Her stats had increased after the massive workout and she was seeing a lot more progress than when she was working out on her own.
Azrael, meanwhile, nearly took 3000 kg [6500 lbs] on the leg press. Once more, Maddison was extremely impressed by how physically gifted Azrael was. For someone who didn't have a blessing from Ares, Azrael probably had more physical strength than those who did!
They had also done a few squats and deadlifts after using the leg press and Maddison blushed a little when she remembered how intimate their position was when Azrael was spotting her during the squats. She wasn't used to any guy being that close to her, so she couldn't help but be embarrassed.
After they were done with the workout, they rested on one of the benches at the side and spoke while drinking water. Jane Ashton passed them while they were talking and Maddison noticed that Jane and Azrael gave each other dirty looks as she passed. Maddison remembered that Jane and Azrael were once close back in middle school and she wondered what happened to make them hate each other this much.

Azrael glanced through his system tab and saw that he had gained some points from the workout he just completed. The amount of points he gained was around the same as what he was gaining when he still had a lower rank in his mortal body, and Azrael frowned at this.
Working out was important, but wasn't it far better to kill daemons and humans since that gave you more points?
Gaining only this many points after working out so much didn't really sit right with him.
"If you're done resting, come up to the arena."
Maddison turned to Azrael in surprise as she heard him saying this and she watched as Azrael started to pack up his things to head upstairs! How in the world does Azrael still have any energy left!?
The arena was a series of large training rooms upstairs where students were allowed to fight against each other to test their abilities. The training room had specially made weapons that wouldn't leave any injuries no matter what, so the students were allowed to go all out and the only way to know who won was by keeping score for every hit.
Going to the arena basically meant that Azrael wanted to train some more! Maddison didn't even know if she could stand up for the next few minutes!
Maddison sighed and threw her head back before she told Azrael that she would be there soon. Demigods all had faster recovery rates than regular humans, so it wouldn't take long for her to get her energy back.
…
Ten minutes later, Maddison walked up to the arena and saw Azrael sitting in the middle of one of the rooms with his legs crossed and his eyes closed with a cylindrical tube and simulation glasses lying beside him. Azrael was meditating.
Maddison went over to the other side of the room and put her things beside Azrael's bag before she started to walk towards him.
Maddison also held a cylindrical tube in her hand that she was going to use to form her weapon and once she got close enough, Azrael stood up from the floor and stretched before smiling at her.
"You're finally done resting?"
Maddison rolled her eyes.
"You were resting too, weren't you? What were you trying to do?"
Azrael smiled mysteriously.
"I was trying to get a feel for my Divine Core."
Maddison made a small sound of disbelief before she realized what she had done and immediately turned away apologetically. Meditating was nothing new to the Demigods in Divine Academy. For as long as Maddison remembered, she had been meditating constantly in order to get a good feel for her Divine Core because she was told that it would help her in developing her God Aspect when she got to high school.
But for someone like Azrael who had no God Aspect, meditating didn't seem like it would do anything for him. Even if he meditated and got a good feel for his Divine Core, it would be useless because he didn't have a God Aspect to improve using the Divine Core!
"You look like you're thinking about something stupid. Are you feeling sorry for me?"
Azrael's cheeky voice drew Maddison's attention back to him and Maddison blushed slightly before shaking her head and moving to the other side of the arena. Maddison knew just as well as everyone else that Azrael was the last person you wanted to feel sorry for. Maddison hated it when people looked down on her and she knew that Azrael was the same. So if she wanted to remain on Azrael's good side, then she had to make sure he didn't think she was feeling sorry for him.
"Of course, I'm not feeling sorry for you. You can do whatever you want. But you said we were going to train, didn't you? Are you going to spend all the time just meditating?"
Azrael nodded before he slowly stood back up while grabbing the cylindrical rod. The room lit up once it recognized the presence of two combatants and the Simulation AI voice spoke up.
