Azrael decided that he was going to have to bear the pain somehow. The wounds on his back were already starting to heal due to his high healing constitution as a demigod, so he was sure that he wouldn't bleed out to death. He just had to somehow get out of there without leaving a trail of blood behind him.

Azrael stumbled to the door and looked behind him to make sure his footsteps weren't smearing blood on the floor. There were no bloodstains, and Azrael opened the door to the empty hallway.

Azrael was wearing gloves and a full-body outfit, so he was sure that he wasn't going to leave any prints in the house. And the only bloodstains he left behind were from the gunshot wounds.

The blood from Romanov's fiancé already flowed over his own, so there was no chance for Azrael to clean that up.

He decided to ignore it as he took a step outside.

Ding~!

The sound of the elevator opening reached Azrael immediately, and he cursed before going back into the room. The police were already on their way up. Azrael looked around for a while before he saw a fire escape on the other side of the room!

That was the only exit available!

Azrael headed towards it, and he looked out the window to see a series of steps that led down to the back of the hotel where the Family Care vans were parked!

"This is the room! Open it!"

A voice shouted from outside, and Azrael immediately leapt out the window!

Azrael slammed into the railing hard, and the force of the jump made his body flip over the railing! Azrael tried to grab hold of it, but the blood on his gloves made him slip, and Azrael cried out as he fell five floors to the ground!

SLAM!

Azrael's back slammed into the ground hard, and he arched his spine upward and cried out in pain as he heard something crack from the fall.

"ARGGHHH!!"

The floor around him splintered and caved in from the impact, and all the Family Care employees who had been moving through the backdoor screamed from fright as they jumped away!

Azrael tried to move, and thankfully, he was able to force himself off the ground and to his feet before he started to limp out of the alleyway.

"There's someone down here! It's the black mask! That's the killer!"

A voice shouted from up on the fifth floor before Azrael heard a gunshot echo through the night.

Bang!

[Water Shield] has been activated.

A two-meter by two-meter circular shield appeared around Azrael and deflected the bullet aimed at him as he stumbled through the street. The people around him all ran for their lives so they wouldn't get hit by the bullet, and Azrael deactivated the Water Shield before using the confusion to go further away from the hotel.

Sirens and ambulance horns were echoing through the street as the police hurried toward the hotel.

Azrael kept his head down and made sure not to attract attention while moving through the crowds before cutting into an alleyway that was far enough from the hotel.

There was a large trash bin in the alleyway, and Azrael grabbed the edge of it and flipped himself into the bin. He took the [Shard of Aridite] and wore it around his neck before he closed his eyes and allowed the exhaustion to knock him out cold.

[The Government Funded Dorm. Sunday.]

"Hey, boss. Are you sure you're doing alright?"

Thomas, one of the boys staying in Azrael's dorm room, spoke up as he neared the bundle of bedsheets lying on the bed.

Yesterday, Azrael had come back very late from his outing. He snuck into the room when all the other boys were asleep and quickly handled everything that he needed to.

He hid the bloody clothes and gloves. He kept the mask in his bag and then he went and took a bath to wash off all the blood on his body.

That had taken him only a few minutes, but he was so exhausted that he passed out once more after he was done.

The Shard of Aridite managed to heal his injuries, but the fatigue he was feeling in his body was something that the Shard couldn't heal. He was completely drained both mentally and physically, and the reality of how close he had come to death weighed on his mind and only served to make his condition worse.

Azrael had been in bed for the entire morning, and the other boys were starting to get worried when they saw this. Azrael was usually the first person to wake up and get going, so they started to wonder if he was sick.

Today, the children were all going to the Divine Church for prayer, but after explaining what was happening to the Matron, she told the boys to leave Azrael alone so he could rest.

Thomas had come to check on Azrael one last time before going to church, and he put his hand on Azrael's shoulder and shook him slightly.

"Boss… You okay?"

"I'm fine. Go."

Azrael's muffled voice answered from under the covers, and Thomas nodded in understanding before he stood.

"Uh… I don't know if your girlfriend broke your heart or something, but cheer up, boss. There's plenty of fish in the sea. And you're plenty handsome, so you'll get another one if you just keep trying. So uh… yeah, cheer up. We'll pray for you when we get to church. See you later, boss."
