Strongest Scammer: Scamming The World, One Death At A Time-Chapter 129: Merit Points And A Tough Mission
Chapter 129: Merit Points And A Tough Mission
Sweaty, scratched up, and covered in bits of leaves and fur, he tied up his prizes and headed back to the sect.
He might have looked like a mess, but Han Yu couldn’t stop grinning.
This was his victory.
Hard-earned. Honest.
Not handed to him by pills or luck.
At the mission hall, Han Yu dropped the three stunned rabbits onto the submission desk.
The sleepy-looking attendant from earlier jolted awake and hurried to complete the paperwork.
"Good job, Brother Han! You even managed to keep them alive. Here’s your contribution points," he said, handing over his idenity token with Han Yu’s updated balance.
Han Yu checked it.
20 points!
It wasn’t much — Outer Sect techniques and resources could cost hundreds, even thousands — but it was a start.
More importantly, it was his first official contribution to the sect. freewebnσvel.cѳm
He was no longer just a broom-wielding joke of a servant.
He was a cultivator of Twin Leaf Peak.
Han Yu walked back to his courtyard, exhausted but proud.
As he passed other Outer Disciples, he noticed fewer glares and a little more hesitation in their eyes.
Respect — however grudging — was starting to bloom.
It wouldn’t happen overnight.
But he would keep pushing.
Step by step.
Battle by battle.
He was no longer surviving.
He was building.
And someday, all of Twin Leaf Peak would know:
Han Yu, once a nobody, was a name to be feared.
He spent the next few days training, trying to learn the Ironwood Stance and the Falling Leaf Strike. While he had certainly memorized the two techniques and their movement, he still hadn’t actually learned how to use them.
For the Falling Leaf Strike, he could certainly execute the moves, but they didn’t have the power that they should. After all, it could only show the real power of the skill, when Spirit qi was used with it.
But Han Yu was still at the Body Tempering realm, as such could only amplify his strength with Vital Energy to increase the force of strikes.
As for the Ironwood Stance, Han Yu’s progress was basically negligible.
It was a defensive skill, that involved using the qi to improve one’s defenses. It could toughen the skin of a cultivator, making it as tough as Ironwood. It was a special kind of Spirit Wood that was used in making weapons for cultivators.
Unfortunately for Han Yu, while he could at least increase the power of his strikes for the Falling Leaf Strike, he couldn’t do the same for the Ironwood stance. Not matter how much Vital Energy he would use, it wouldn’t increase his defensive power to the level of Ironwood.
That needed a qualitative change that only Spirit Qi could provide.
’Maybe I should get another defensive technique that I can use with Body Tempering Realm Cultivation.’ Han Yu thought.
But then he remembered he had already used up his assigned quota of Skill Pavillion access. If he wanted to get another skill for free, he would have to wait another few weeks.
These skills might be free, but they couldn’t take more than two at once unless they wanted to pay. Plus, the access was limited to once a month.
"Will they let me exchange one at least?" Han Yu wondered before sighing. "What am I even thinking, those stingy people won’t make it that easy." He shook his head.
For now, he would have to do with whatever he had.
He simply focused on the Falling Leaf Strike, trying to improve on it, keeping the Ironwood Stance on the back burner.
Thankfully, Han Yu had a lot of time, since he didn’t need to work as a pill tester for Li Mei anymore. Having become an Outer court disciple, the contract he had with her had been terminated as stipulated.
While he had certainly expected Li Mei to show up, for some reason, she hadn’t.
’Where did she go though? I didn’t see her at her place and the other disciples only say that she’s been given some mission.’ He thought to himself.
A few more days after his first mission, Han Yu found himself summoned to the Outer Sect Mission Hall again.
This time, it wasn’t to choose a mission.
It was to receive one.
When he arrived, the outer hall elder, a hawk-nosed man named Elder Zhang, was already waiting with a scroll in hand and a small group of Outer Disciples gathered around him.
Han Yu’s heart sank immediately.
The other disciples were all stronger than him. A few were already at the Mid stage of the Qi Refining realm. Worse, he recognized two faces he wished he hadn’t: Liu Ping and Sun Kang — known lackeys of Lei Xing.
Han Yu had spent some time getting to know about the power structure of the Outer Court and had also tried to gather information about his ’adversaries’.
He had to stay one step ahead of them, after all.
As such, Han Yu kept his expression neutral, pretending not to notice them.
Elder Zhang cleared his throat, the scroll snapping open like a whip.
"You nine have been assigned a special task," he said sternly. "Reports from Black Moss Ridge suggest unusual spirit beast activity. The sect cannot spare Inner Disciples for such a minor investigation, so it falls on you to scout the area."
Black Moss Ridge.
Han Yu fought back a grimace.
It was one of the more dangerous areas near the sect — a place with steep cliffs, perpetual mist, and poisonous plants everywhere.
Most low-level disciples avoided it unless they had a death wish.
"Your task is to investigate, find the source of the disturbances if possible, and return with information. Fighting is discouraged unless absolutely necessary," Elder Zhang said.
He narrowed his eyes, looking right at Han Yu.
"You are all expected to return safely."
The tone made it very clear: if anything happened to any disciple... there would be questions.
Han Yu inclined his head respectfully, already sensing the layers beneath this setup.
