Chapter 194: Preparing For Undying Life Charm

That night, Han Yu sat cross-legged in his quiet courtyard under the faint glow of starlight. He opened the scroll he had "borrowed" from the Mission Hall records—one that listed the missing items from the sect’s inventory following his mysterious revival.

The document was exhaustive. The sect had tried to keep things hush-hush, but in the aftermath of his return and the events that followed in the Twin Leaf Peak Sect, too many things had gone missing for the elders not to notice. As a result, they had launched a discreet investigation and distributed subtle missions to recover what they believed was stolen or displaced.

Han Yu, of course, had been the walking epicenter of that disaster. Unintentionally, he had absorbed a treasure trove of precious materials upon reviving. Now, for the first time, he truly grasped the scale.

The list read like the inventory of a small nation.

Three drops of Vermillion Crane Blood

One stalk of Absolving Marrow Grass

A chunk of Nine-Origin Black Jade

One complete Root of Immortal Bonevine

The condensed essence of a Spirit-Nurturing Spring

A fragment of a Core Refining Crystal

An entire jar of Spirit-Congealing Pills (mid-tier, thirty pills)

Several miscellaneous talismans and weapons

Dust from a Broken Heaven Mirror

And most importnatly The Appraisal Crystal and the Talent Seeking Tablet.

And these were just the notable items. There were many more lower grade items that weren’t worth mentioning, along with a lot of Spirit stones. All in all, if a tally was done, the value

Han Yu stared at the scroll as if it had insulted his ancestors.

"This... this is absurd," he muttered. "No wonder the sect freaked out. This is enough to elevate a Foundation Establishment cultivator straight to Core Formation in one mad sitting."

And he had absorbed it all just to survive.

He sat back and rubbed his forehead, thoughts racing. The Undying Life Charm—the mystical soul technique that had triggered his revival—was obviously not cheap to activate. Now that he had a rough idea of the scale, he could only feel cold sweat down his back.

’If I die again... how much will it cost? More than this? Or maybe different materials each time?’

The truth was, he had no clue. But one thing was now certain: reviving wasn’t some cheap trick. It was a divine act that came at a staggering cost.

"No wonder it took the entire section of the vault to revive me," he whispered.

Still, knowing the cost also meant he could start preparing. He couldn’t just hope the sect had a billion-year-old phoenix feather lying around that he could swipe away before the next time he got stabbed.

Han Yu rolled up the scroll and tucked it away. He needed a plan.

The next day, Han Yu approached Elder Song, the sect’s alchemy and resource Elder, with a respectful bow. Someone like Han Yu wouldn’t normally be able to go to Elder Song direclty, but due to his infamy of being Li Mei’s Pill tester, the Elder allowed him audience.

"I’m interested in rare and revival-related materials," he said. "Even if I don’t need them now... I’d like to understand what’s required for long-term life-preserving cultivation."

Elder Song gave him a long look over his tea cup. "Revival? That’s not something you ask lightly, Han Yu."

Han Yu smiled innocently. "Pure curiosity, Elder. Hypotheticals."

"Scared after your almost death?" Elder Song could guess why Han Yu was inquiring into this.

Facing death made many people change after all.

"Indeed." Han Yu nodded.

"Hmph." The old man sighed. "Fine. Look into Rebirth-grade materials. They’re exceedingly rare. You won’t find anything related to true revival as that is beyond our limits as Spirit Cultivators. At most you’ll be able to find some materials that Nascent Soul Realm cultivators keep to rebuild their bodies."

He wrote a short list on a scroll and handed it to Han Yu.

"Here. These are some substitutes or foundations for Body Rebuilding formations or cultivation. Most don’t work on their own, but they’re part of larger systems. You’ll need dozens—perhaps hundreds—of them to piece together even the most basic type of a body."

"Also remember that these are useless for you right now. Only a Nascent Soul realm cultivator and above will be able to make use of it." The elder said with a hint of pity.

Han Yu bowed deeply and took the scroll.

Back in his room, Han Yu stared at the new list.

Moonshadow Lotus

Jade Heart Silk

Ashes of a Fireborn Beast

Three-cycle Soulgrass

Spirit-Forged Bone Sand

Spirit Anchor Iron

Reverse Bloodfruit

He exhaled slowly.

It’s going to be a long journey.

But at least now, he had a starting point.

Han Yu knew he couldn’t reveal his true revival method. It was completely different from the revival that the Nascnet Soul realm cultivators underwent. In real sense, they hadn’t died as thier soul was still intact and in this world.

That was the entire reason they formed Nascent Soul’s so that they could escape their body upon death and then either find a suitable body to take over or simply create a new one.

The first methods was frankly frowned upon and considered belonging to the unorthodox. It was also difficult as finding a suitable body was quite difficult. the only method with a high chance was to take over the body of a blood relative or a descendant. But even that came with its disadvantages.

There was no guarantee the body might be compatible with their soul and could still face rejection from the original soul of the body.

The second method was better but came at a high cost as the materials needed to build a new body were expensive and refining them needed high skill. One would need a combination of skilled alchemists to refine the materials and Formation Masters to set up an array that could allow the creation of a new body.

Even for a top sect like the Twin Leaf Peak Sect, only a few key individuals might have the power and backing to do something like this.
