Substitute Wife for the Mafia King R18-Chapter 371: The Unavoidable
At first, I thought that the way my heart raced fast and the way that I found it slightly difficult to breathe whenever he was in sight was merely a coincidence or that I was feeling slightly unwell. However, I soon figured out that it was probably because I had realized the nature of the true feelings that I harbored for him.
"Excuse me. There’s someone here to see you," Jenna said as she waved her hand in front of my face. I almost jumped out of my seat when I realized that she was standing so close to me. Before I realized what I was doing, I had already reached out for my phone and hid it away from her as if I had a secret that I needed to keep to myself.
"Is something the matter?" Jenna asked with a concerned look on her face. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"Oh, nothing. Bradon is...coming home for dinner," I mumbled.
"Did he tell you that? That’s great, I’ll make sure the chef cooks something special," Jenna said with a pleased smile. The way that she looked at me with that bright smile of hers and that knowing twinkle in her eyes made me feel more than slightly uncomfortable.
"You mentioned that there was someone here to see me. Who is it?" I asked to quickly change the topic of our conversation.
"Your sister is here to see you," Jenna said with a grin.
"My sister is here to see me? Please invite her in immediately," I replied without hesitation.
As Jenna walked away, I wondered if the sister that was here to see me was Diana or Dahlia. I had no idea what Bradon wanted to do regarding informing people living in his household about my true identity. Now that Diana was back, there were times when I wasn’t sure whether I should be acting as myself or playing the role of my twin sister. I let out a sigh when I realized that that was something we needed to iron out as soon as possible before it became a problem for everyone.
"You look well," Diana said observantly as she took the seat opposite me. She leaned across the table and rested her beautiful face on her hands as her eyes stared directly at my face.
"I am well," I replied shortly, wondering why she had suddenly decided to visit me at Bradon’s mansion of all places when she could have easily given me a call.
The last time that we met, Diana was in the middle of playing her mind game with me, and I hated to admit that I walked right into the trap that she had set.
"How did you manage to get in?" I asked. I did not fail to remember that even Crown Prince Desmond had a difficult time getting access to Bradon’s mansion without risking the loss of his life. After all, I was there to witness the whole thing go down, and that was why I was more than slightly surprised that Diana managed to waltz in here without any hassle.
"I got your husband’s permission, how else?" she replied, letting out a soft laugh as if recalling something amusing.
"You asked Bradon for permission?" I asked, unable to hide my surprise. I didn’t think Bradon would easily grant anyone access to his mansion, and I wasn’t sure how to feel about Diana managing to obtain his permission so easily. It did work in my favor, saving me the trip of heading out to meet her. I knew that sooner or later I needed to talk things out with my sister and figure out what exactly we were misunderstanding about.
"This is his house, so who else would I ask for permission from?" Diana replied sarcastically.
"I guess you’re right about that," I said while wondering why my sister had come to see me here. I was certain there were many things she wanted to say to me as well, but I wasn’t sure what exactly she had in mind. If Diana felt disturbed or guilty about what she had done in the hospital, she didn’t show it at all. As always, she was the perfect image of her happy and confident self.
"Can you stop looking at me like that?" she asked teasingly before flashing me a smile.
"Like what?" I asked with an edge to my voice. If she was really looking to start an argument with me, then there was no reason why I had to work so hard to maintain the peace.
"Okay, fine, I’m going to stop teasing you now. Bradon did agree that I could come and see you at his house, but only after getting me to agree to his demands," Diana explained, letting out a sigh of resignation.
"What agreement?" I asked without hiding my curiosity.
"He told me that I could come see you here, but in exchange, I also need to explain to you exactly what happened that day at the hospital when you walked in on us," Diana said before shrugging her shoulders innocently.
"Great, so you’re going to tell me exactly what happened on that day?" I asked without beating around the bush.
"I was planning to do just that without the need for Bradon to set his conditions. I guess I do owe you an explanation," my sister said, smiling apologetically my way. I would be lying if I said that for a moment I didn’t start pitying my sister, but that feeling only lasted for a split second before I reminded myself that I shouldn’t be so kind to her after what she had done.
"You also owe me an apology," I reminded her pointedly.
"I’m not so sure about that. How about you listen to what I have to say first, before deciding whether or not I owe you an apology. Of course, if after I’ve explained, you still think that I owe you an apology, I will apologize," Diana said, greeting me with utter confidence.
