Chapter 438: Trust and Insecurities

"We should stick to the plan. I’m sure that something important came up at work or something. He’ll meet us at the venue. We’ve still got plenty of time before the ceremony starts, there’s nothing to worry about," I told Diana.

"Right. Let’s go," Diana said, although I could tell that she was just as worried as I was.

I was worried about the fact that I could not get a hold of Bradon no matter how many times that I called his mobile phone all throughout the final stages of the wedding preparing. We were hours from the time that our wedding ceremony was supposed to start, and I had no clue where he was.

"I don’t mean to stress you, but where is Bradon right now? The wedding is about to start," Diana asked me again.

I watched as she paced up and down the length of my dressing room. It wasn’t hard to understand her frustration and anxiety when I was pretty much feeling the same way. At first, I told myself that I had to place trust in Bradon that he was tied up in something important. I told myself that once again he was doing all that was necessary for us to have some peace together in our future, but as time went by, I couldn’t help but fear for the worst.

At that moment, there was nothing worse than Bradon not making it to our wedding. After all, he was supposed to be the groom. I had no idea what kind of chaos would erupt if the groom was suddenly absent from his own wedding. Just the thought of it made me feel sick inside. I prayed that that scenario would be avoided at all costs.

"I don’t know where he is, but I’m sure that he’ll be here soon," I answered before showing my sister a tense smile.

"He better get here soon..." Diana said.

"We still have time. He’ll be here," I replied while sounding more confident than I was actually feeling.

"He better be. I’m going to go check outside. You just focus on getting your make-up and hair done," Diana said reassuring before heading outside of the room.

I turned my attention back to the task at hand, which was staying still so that the make up artist and hair dressers could work their magic. For our own wedding, I didn’t choose a very fancy look. I went with make up that would look natural, using the tone of gold and pink.

"I think you hair looks perfect like this. It really shows off the shape of your forehead and the beautiful contours of your face," the hairdresser said as she urged me to take a look into the mirror that she was holding.

"It looks great. Thanks so much," I thanked her with a smile.

I could see the reflection of the back of my head in the main mirror from the small mirror that she handed to me. The way that she had styled my hair truly lived up to my expectations, if not even better. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

"Your make up is also almost done. Please keep your eyes closed for a moment and turn this way," one of the make-up artists instructed politely.

"Sure," I replied before quickly complying

As I felt the soft brushes against my closed eyelids, I tried to keep myself calm. However, no matter how many times I told myself to believe in Bradon and that he would make it to our wedding in time, there was a nagging feeling at the back of my mind that tempted me to worry. So many ’what ifs’ filled my mind.

What if something bad had happened to him?

"How much time do we have left until we have to start?" I asked as I tried to keep my voice from trembling.

"A little under an hour..." one of the organizers answered before showing me a smile that didn’t look at all confident.

The look on her face said it all, and I had to agree with her silent unspoken thought. If the groom didn’t show up, the wedding would be nothing short of a disaster. I let out a loud sigh as I felt my entire body tremble. Anger bubbled inside of me, and I had no one to blame it on but the man that I was about to marry.

"Why don’t we get you dressed first? Everything else is done and ready to go, so we should get you dressed and all ready to go," she quickly advised.

"Yes, thank you..." I mumbled, but my mind was elsewhere.

I wanted to run out and look for Bradon myself, although I wasn’t quite sure where to start my search. He could be at the mansion or at the casino.

Apart from those places, I didn’t know where else to search. Time wasn’t on my side, and it wasn’t like I could simply pop up and drag him to the wedding.

"Where are you?" I whispered under my breath.

Time was ticking by without stopping to wait for anyone, including the arrival of my groom. I felt cold sweat forming on my skin, and I couldn’t stop myself from thinking of the worst. At that moment, I knew that there must be a very good explanation of why Bradon hadn’t yet arrived at the venue of our wedding ceremony. Something grave must have gone wrong, and I could only pray that he wasn’t hurt in anyway.

"Please tell me that you’re fine..." I whispered to myself again.

There was still no sign of Bradon by the time that I had completely finished dressing up for my own wedding. Inspecting myself in the mirror only made me feel so far away from reality. The beautiful bride staring back at me had a very worried look on her face as if she had been forced into the upcomming marriage ceremony.

"Bradon isn’t here yet?" Diana asked the moment that she reappeared into my dressing room.

"He’s not yet out there, is he?" I asked without much hope.
