Sumatra's Greatest Fan-Chapter 69: Largest Raid Group
"It should be around here," Trotro muttered as he arrived before the waterfall curtaining the entrance to a house lodged within the mountain side. He seeped his Prana at the entrance and tried to wrestle control over the waterwall, which caused a fluctuation and alerted the dweller within.
A few seconds later, Torq walked out of the waterfall, surprised to see Trotro.
"There’s a mission." Trotro uttered, "And the higherups posted you as part of the crew."
"You have five minutes to get ready and follow me out." He expressed curtly.
"I’ll be out shortly." Saying so, Torq entered the curtain and eyed the Eureur Pet sprawled on the water flowing within, "There’s a mission."
"It should be serious, considering how you’ve been dispatched earlier than scheduled." Eureur Pet spoke after some thought, "Be careful."
"I will." Saying so, Torq grabbed a bag and placed all the vials of medicines in his secret shelf into it. ’I’ll charge up the Narlakk Pet while on the journey.’
At present, Boiboi had two Nature slots. The secondary Nature slot was occupied by the Empyrean Snapper Pet while the Tertiary Nature slot was occupied by Eureur Pet.
At first, Torq wanted to leave the Eureur Pet behind, intending to make spaces for better Pets that he could obtain on the journey. However, upon further thought, he figured out the costs to charge up a useful Pet couldn’t be afforded while on the journey.
Instead, Eureur Pet will come in handy, especially to refine medicines and the like. The Empyrean Snapper Pet will extract resources from the terrain and the Eureur Pet will refine medicines out of them.
’It’s a feasible combination.’ He thought and spoke to the Eureur Pet, "I’ll be placing you in my Nature slot now."
"Sure," Eureur Pet nodded, "Only bring me out if the situation is dire."
A pause later, she eyed Torq and asked, "Do you know about your father’s secret?"
"Yes," Torq nodded.
"Good, that makes things convenient." Eureur Pet nodded in relief, "If you ever fail to convince him about something, bring me out." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"How are you sure father will be accompanying me on this mission?" Torq frowned.
"I’ve arranged it that way." Eureur Pet smiled, "Everything of danger that will happen, I’ve ensured Runthral is a part of our response to the danger. Only then will he bloom as a Deity."
"And you’re part of Runthral’s entourage, same as your father." Eureur Pet smiled, "You know exactly why you’re a part of it."
"Yes, I do." Torq nodded. If Runthral were to keep growing without limits and soon reaches the end of his potential, it was Boiboi’s turn to be sacrificed. And by participating on such journeys, Boiboi too would develop his strength and bloom his potential.
With Eureur’s present arrangements, as long as Boiboi performs well, he will be rewarded accordingly. Eureur will ensure he cannot cash in those benefits until they’ve reached a point where he could obtain the Lightning Plasma Spirit Pool instead.
’Lightning Plasma...!’ Torq thought about the Spirit Pool he desired. The traditional manner in which an Empyrean Snapper gathers the Lightning Plasma Spirit Pool was through the aid of a Treasure–the Cooter Clan’s Major Treasure.
That was their foundation.
However, there was a secret that had been erased from the Cooter Clan’s history, originating from the Cooter Ancestor himself. Lightning Plasma was a substance naturally produced in an Empyrean Snapper’s brain in extremely rare quantities.
Building a Spirit Pool using it granted the user computational capabilities almost on par with an Empyrean Snapper. Moreover, its perfect capability with Mystic Mist Art generated a level of power superior to even an Empyrean Snapper.
Torq knew the details of this secret and also had means to further capitalise on it, to the extent he could become a powerhouse who could think of the bigger picture.
"Say," Just as Torq was about to place her in the Nature slot, Eureur Pet wondered aloud, "How did things proceed previously?"
"Based on your expression, as if you’ve expected it," Eureur Pet eyed Torq, "This mission must have happened in the past, right?"
"What was the result?"
"Do you plan to alert the Cooter Clan of any information I divulge past this point?" Torq asked, "If I were to give you the option."
"If simply revealing the information was all it took to destroy the enemy, you would have done it through Runthral already." Eureur Pet smiled wryly, "There must be ways the enemy uses to learn about us."
"Yes," Torq nodded, "The Narlakks make infiltration extremely easy. The enemy is using them to learn about us in real-time."
"So," Eureur Pet asked once again, "What was the result the previous time?"
"I wasn’t active here back then, so I don’t know the intricate details myself. However," Torq grumbled, "I know the result."
"Father was the sole survivor."
"What about Runthral?" Eureur Pet expressed her worry, "Was he a part of the mission?"
"I see," Eureur Pet slumped deep within the water upon seeing Torq’s silence.
’The Runthral from that timeline was vastly more incompetent than the existing version. So, it’s not surprising he died a dog’s death.’ Torq shook his head, retracted Eureur Pet to his Nature slot, and exited the house, slinging a bag full of medicines on his back.
"Ready?" Trotro asked as he eyed the bag on Torq’s back.
"Yes," Torq nodded and accompanied Trotro as the duo descended the mountain. Along the way, he asked for details of the mission, "What is it about?"
"You’ll be briefed about it in detail soon." Trotro didn’t say much and instead created a platform of clouds upon descending to the foot of the mountain. The cloud platform carried the duo and hurried towards a certain corner of Tsloch Vitara.
Five battleships had docked at the port, each reaching a length of 280 metres. Gathering on the port were Cooter Clansmen, originating from various Settlements.
The sheer presence that released passively caused the wind and water in the surroundings to heed their collective call, bending to their will. Mist began gathering overhead, forming wisps around their shoulders that wafted out like incense.
The group was divided into four sections, with ununiformed number of Cooter Clansmen in each. The foremost group consisted of the scouts, primarily in charge of communication and detection in the surroundings.
They had Spirit Pools designated to raise their speed of travel and assist in their detection and communication means. Each scout team consisted of ten people in total, with nine possessing Iron Grade strength and a minimum of 6-Life Stage Cultivation and the last being the Team Leader, possessing Silver Grade strength with a minimum of 4-Life Stage cultivation.
There were a total of 100 Scout Teams in total, numbering 1000 scouts.
The second section consisted of Cooter Clansmen with relatively weaker presence, but with greater expertise in Mystic Mist Art. They only possessed Iron Grade strength with cultivation ranging between the 2-Life Stage and the 3-Life Stage.
They numbered 5000 in total and were exclusively tasked with the battleship’s mobility and its related logistics.
Most of those part of this section were old, sporting wrinkly skins, uncaring if they were to die, for they had seen everything life had to offer. They joined solely out of duty intending to contribute to the Cooter Clan one last time, since they could.
The third section was by far the biggest and most grandiose. Each Cooter Clansmen here donned leather armour crafted from the toughest of Silver Grade Pranic Beasts available in the Tsloch Sea.
They were the Battle Teams, split into groups of fifty. Of the fifty, 48 had Iron Grade strength, with a minimum cultivation at 8-Life Stage. Some of the veterans even reached the peak of the 9-Life Stage, on the verge of entering the final stage of cultivation.
The Vice Captain had a minimum of 6-Life Stage cultivation and the Captain had a 7-Life Stage cultivation.
There were a total of 400 Battle Teams, reaching a grandiose number of 20,000 Cooter Clansmen solely in charge of fights.
The fourth, and final section, was the least imposing of them all, primarily in charge of maintenance and crew work. There were a total of 2000, mostly with Iron Grade strength at the Body Stage.
Only the Crew Leaders had a 2-Life Stage cultivation. Torq had been assigned to one this section.
Approaching the rear end of the section, he eyed an old man pointed at by Trotro and approached the other party, "I am Boiboi. I’ve been assigned to..."
"Everyone knows who you are." The old man grumpily snorted and harrupted Torq to get in the line, "We’ll all be moving together as a group."
"Your only task is to follow my lead and do what needs to be done." The old man eyed the crew workers he was in charge of, "Any questions?"
"There better not be any." He shrugged, "Whatever repairs need to be conducted, we will complete it, even at the cost of our lives."
"Ignore any Pranic Beast gorging upon your flesh." He announced, "With whatever time left in you, focus on finishing your task."
"Because if the crew slacks off, our Battleships will collapse eventually." He addressed the group of 19 crewmen under him, "Is that clear?"
