Chapter 84: Bitala’s Wish

Thud!

Torq plopped to the floor in despair, lacking the strength to continue fighting, ’It’s over!’

Not only was Nusantara’s Celestial aware of his regression, it also had knowledge of the previous timelines. That wasn’t even the worst case scenario.

The worst-case scenario was the fact that it now had knowledge about two of Torq’s vessels–Boiboi and Bitala.

Therefore, the moment Torq regresses, and begins the next timeline, both Boiboi and Bitala would be targeted, preventing them from achieving what they originally intended.

At least, in Boiboi’s case, things could be managed. For, that timeline’s Boiboi would have Torq’s strength without Torq’s involvement. Torq would have assumed another identity in the respective timelines, allowing him to make countermeasures to ensure Boiboi’s survival.

However, Bitala’s case was different. Torq had yet to regress and reincarnate into Bitala, which means in the respective timeline, when Bitala gets targeted, it would be impossible to expect external assistance.

Thud!

"Dammit!"

THUD!

"DAMMITTTTT!" Torq screamed as he punched the ground, "FUCKKK!"

The moment he took action proactively, he ended up revealing his identity and position to the final boss. Not just his present identity got compromised, but even a future vessel’s fate had been jeopardised.

’I shouldn’t have left the Battleship!’ He was always careful to not do anything crazy that was beyond the norm so as to keep his identity hidden. But the incident that happens at the Dralh Sea not just results in the Cooter Clan’s destruction, but it also turns the Empyrean Snappers into Sumatra’s enemy eventually.

Torq wanted to stop that, which is why he took action. There were eight locations in total, where the Narlakks were making plans.

Upon seeing his vessel being included in one of them, Torq rushed to the scene in a hurry. ’I shouldn’t have rushed...’

"You..." As the gag on Bitala’s mouth cracked, the latter bled through the mouth and forced his jaw open, speaking while spitting out blood, "You should flee."

Bitala eyed Torq with a helpless expression as veins popped all over his body, "I don’t know what those creatures are, but they did something to my body. I feel it’s about to erupt soon."

As he spoke, thin lines of green appeared on his skin, wriggling about like worms as they grew more and more pronounced as time passed.

Transforming into an Empyrean Snapper, Torq hurriedly destroyed the mineral pillar keeping Bitala bound and used a platform of air to grab the other party.

"Grah!" Bitala screamed in pain as something seemed to be thrashing about from within him. For a moment, his stomach bulged like a spear as something had stabbed upwards to stretch the stomach walls in such a fashion.

And then, there was nothing as the stomach returned to its original form. Bitala raised his hand, begging for help as Torq rushed to his assistance.

"Information Slip!" Torq shouted, "Convey everything they did to you using an Information Slip!"

"I promise I’ll stop whatever they’re planning!" His tone was desperate, grasping at straws upon seeing Bitala’s body spasm nonstop.

Bitala only had a right arm now. His left arm and everything below his hips were no more. The peacock’s actions ensured Bitala’s Prana could never heal the injury, permanently making Bitala a cripple.

Even otherwise, it didn’t matter, for Bitala didn’t have much longer to live.

When a Quill fuses into a creature’s body, it grants the latter power on par with an Expert Gold Grade Pranic Beast. Usually, the Quills moved separately, each fused with a creature optimised to execute the plans connected by Nusantara’s Celestial.

But when three Quills gather at a spot and harmonise with each other, they could create the peacock, which was a projection of Nusantara’s Celestial. This projection was at a level where it could exhibit an infinitesimally small portion of Nusantara Celestial’s power.

At torq’s current skillset, only his needle could manage to damage the peacock. His Empyrean Snapper Pet still had plenty of growing to do before it could attempt to harm the peacock.

The peacock was waiting at the place, intending to power Bitala after transforming him into the product it desired. ’It abandoned him since I’m here.’

Torq had the means to convert a Quill into a form he could use. The Quills were supposed to be indestructible. However, the fact that it had lost one meant Torq had done something.

Hence, it didn’t intend to give Torq chances to get any more and destroyed itself simply after delivering to him some despair.

"I...don’t want to die." Bitala began to cry, for even though he had been prepared as Torq’s vessel, he was at present, just a kid. And after lots of efforts, he had finally become a Mystic Human, only to be subjected to such a horrid fate.

"But..." He pleaded with Torq, "Please run away and summon the Chief of the Mystic Humans here!"

"I...I don’t know what is happening to me, but please..." He roared in pain, "Only the Chief can stop whatever it is that is trying to emerge from me!"

Bitala’s body made creaking sounds, as the bones within were getting pressed upon each other at the joints. Soon, the thigh bone cracked, producing a weak thunderclap that echoed around the tunnel.

"The Information Slip," Torq urged desperately as tears streamed down his eyes, "Please, give it to me!"

"Yes..." Bitala condensed a Spirit Container cluster and infused all the data within it. This was the Information Slip used by Mystic Humans. As long as a third party consumes the Spirit Container cluster, they’ll gradually obtain all the data stored in it. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

As the Spirit Container cluster landed on Torq’s hand, Bitala gasped in horror, for suddenly, his body ballooned like something had exploded within. A couple seconds later, his body reverted to normalcy.

Torq chumped upon the Spirit Container cluster and created a stream of mist, intending to create a medicine that would heal Bitala, even though he wasn’t confident in his actions amounting to anything.

The stream of mist barely touched Bitala and dissipated as the latter was fully resisting its functions. ’It’s worse than I thought!’

As the Information Slip’s contents appeared in his mind, Torq paused his efforts and hovered the needle above Bitala’s forehead, aware of what will emerge if he were to delay any further.

"Is there no hope?" Bitala resigned himself to his fate upon seeing Torq nod in response. Slowly, he extended his right hand and grabbed the other party, "All my life, I lived in this cave, longing to see the world outside."

"Please show it to me, Sir." He begged, "Since I cannot witness it for myself anymore, please allow me to experience it through your memories."

If Torq had been born on Mohtr Island and lived his childhood mining for resources, he would have been Bitala. No, the version of Torq that had lived at Mohtr Island was none other than Bitala.

Both of them had the same desire.

Condensing a sphere of water, Torq turned it into an Information Slip and stuffed it down Bitala’s throat, grunting as most of its contents were splashed out. For some reason, Bitala’s body was resisting everything.

Barely a couple drops worth of the Information Slip reached his Bitala. It barely consisted of four images, from different regions that Torq had witnessed in his previous lives. "How...how is it?"

"It’s as I’ve dreamed." His face had turned green as hundreds of wormy creatures squirmed underneath, disappearing and protruding every alternate second. With a grateful expression, Bitala held Torq’s hand, "Thank you, kind sir."

"Sumatra, truly is the prettiest!" The tears streaming down Torq’s eyes intensified upon hearing Bitala’s final words. And then, the needle made contact, vaporising the other party.
