Summoned with an SSS-Rank Portal Skill-Chapter 366: The Start of a New Organization
The trio walked through the main part of the palace, not caring if anyone saw them or not.
Thompson and Lucas weren't scared of the mermaids. To them, those creatures were incredibly weak.
One of the triton guards saw them approaching. With a smile, he said, "Lord Thompson and Lucas, what are you doing walking around this late?"
Only after a few seconds did the triton realize William was there with them. The creature frowned.
"Who is this person?"
Without saying a word, Lucas unsheathed his sword and cut the triton's head off, killing the creature instantly. Blueish liquid spattered across the floor, and the sound of the falling corpse alerted the other guards.
"Prepare to kill the rest coming our way," Lucas said. "You don't even need to fight, William. Let us handle this."
"And miss all the fun? No way!" William replied with a cheeky smile.
A group of triton guards showed up not long after the first one was dead. They looked at Thompson and Lucas, then at the corpse in front of them. Their minds couldn't comprehend what was happening.
"What is going on? Who did this?" one guard shouted.
The mermaids trusted Lucas and Thompson so much that the possibility they'd killed the guard didn't even cross their minds. It was blind faith. To them, those two were like deities with tremendous power.
William didn't wait for them to act. He wanted to have some fun as well, and of course, get revenge after being drugged and having his blood harvested.
He dashed toward the group with nothing but his bare hands—he still hadn't found his sword—and when he reached the first triton guard, he slapped the creature's head!
His strength was so great that the creature's neck snapped. William quickly grabbed the triton's sword, then moved to the next one. This time, he could use a blade to kill them.
With each kill, the system notified him of EXP gains, which were quite decent. Not only that, but he also received a few item drops—some armor and weapons from those unfortunate creatures, as well as coins.
"Let's move before he kills everyone," Thompson said.
The tritons were completely lost after seeing Thompson and Lucas fighting alongside William instead of helping them. Their hope had been crushed.
After dealing with all the guards in the castle, they moved into the streets, fighting the remaining patrolling guards. There were no innocent people in that city. Even the mermaids and tritons who weren't guards were using blood to perform rituals and gain benefits from it.
They couldn't let anyone live, or those atrocities would keep happening, over and over again. No matter how many guards came to face them, or who they were, they just didn't stand a chance.
William, the current weakest among the three heroes, could've defeated the whole city alone if he'd wanted. So adding Lucas and Thompson to the mix? The enemies didn't stand a fucking chance.
The humans locked in the underground cells heard the commotion outside. None of them knew what was happening.
The adventurer who'd spoken with William before realized he wasn't inside the cell anymore.
"No way that guy is trying to save us, haha," he said.
Everyone slowly realized William was gone, and they all perked up. William went to the cells to free them. The moment he appeared, every single one of them started cheering.
"Our savior! You're the best, my brother. We can never repay you!"
"Free us so we can kill those bastards!"
William stopped in front of the cells.
"Don't worry, we already killed all of them. Those two humans are working with me now, so you're all free to go."
"You did?"
They hadn't thought William would have the power to finish off all the tritons and mermaids, given their numbers, and they weren't particularly weak to begin with. That was quite unexpected.
William opened the cells. All of them moved outside to meet up with Thompson and Lucas.
"You can take whatever you want from this place," Thompson said. "I believe they have some boats stored here that you can use to leave."
The humans all thanked them and started moving, grabbing everything they could and searching for those boats as well. William went with them to the storage room where his sword was being kept. He retrieved it, then returned to meet up with Lucas and Thompson.
"I think we're set now," Thompson said. "They don't have anything useful in this place for us."
Lucas had something bothering him.
"Those two escaped," he said.
"Those two?" William asked.
"The leaders of this mermaid city. You could say they're the queen and king," Lucas replied. "I didn't see them anywhere. Could they have noticed our movements so quickly and fled?"
"Maybe… Ah, screw it. It's not like they can do anything right now. And even if they someday start this fucking cult again, we can just find them and kill them," Thompson said.
"So what do we do now? Where's your flying aquatic serpent?" William asked.
Thompson was curious. "Why does he want to know about your pet?"
"Well, I gave it to him…"
"You're such a kind person, aren't you?" Thompson had a proud smile on his face.
He didn't know the only reason Lucas had given the serpent in the first place was because he'd been controlled… But now, after knowing they were all on the same team, Lucas's feelings had changed. He liked the idea of giving William that precious pet.
They walked together toward the back of the city, close to where the barrier ended. Outside the barrier, Lucas's aquatic serpent waited.
The serpent was majestic. A massive creature at least thirty meters long, with two angelic wings on its back and enormous yellow eyes.
"Wow," William said. "This thing is incredible. How did you find it?"
"It might sound absurd, but I found it on a flying island in the middle of the ocean. For some reason, I decided to explore the world after we lost the battle against the mysterious man," Lucas said.
"I was there, so I can vouch for him," Thompson chimed in.
"And now it's yours."
Lucas was quite sad about giving his pet to William. He was trying to hide it, of course, but it was hard not to let some of his feelings show.
William decided to let Lucas keep his pet.
"You said we should create an organization, and we're all friends now, right? So you can keep your pet. I'll just borrow it when I need it."
When Lucas heard that, he smiled and couldn't hide his joy. "Really?"
He turned to face the serpent. "Did you hear that, Bob?"
William shook his head. "Bob? Did you really give him that name…?"
Thompson shook his head too. "I told you others would laugh at that name. You should've changed it."
Lucas ignored them both. "Don't mind them, Bob."
"Let's move, then. There's nothing else for us to do here," William said.
"Understood… boss," Lucas said.
Thompson was a little resistant to calling William boss, since he'd been his teacher in the first place, but he said it anyway.
The trio left the barrier and climbed onto the serpent. The creature then ascended, quickly leaving the lake behind.
It was incredibly fast. In a matter of seconds, it had reached the skies, flying away from that mermaid city.
"Where do we go now?" Lucas asked.
He was the one controlling the serpent. William just sat there with his legs crossed, gazing at the horizon.
"I don't know. I need to get stronger, and we need to create an organization and kill the undead controlling this kingdom. Do you know where we can start this organization of ours?" William asked.
Lucas was the one who'd explored the world the most. He pondered their possibilities.
"We should establish our base outside this kingdom, since it'll be much safer. But we can still create a portal so we can move from our base to a temporary outpost in this kingdom. What do you think?"
The idea was good. If they could travel from their base to the kingdom in seconds without worrying about the undead finding their true headquarters, that would be perfect.
Lucas had explored many parts of the world, especially the oceans, as he'd always loved the idea of sailing.
He knew about several islands that could serve as their base.
"If we plan on hiring people to work for us, they shouldn't know about our true base, right? This way, it'll be much safer. We can keep the true base exclusively for the heroes and those we deem trustworthy," William said.
"Agreed."
Both Thompson and Lucas liked the idea. They had to keep their base a secret, especially considering there was a powerful man hunting them.
"Before we do anything, we must fly to a nearby kingdom," Lucas said. "I have a friend there—a really powerful enchanter and master of magical formations. He can hide the base for us and help with the teleportation formation and other things. I think he might be our first recruit."
"Can we really trust him?" William asked.
"Yes, I think so. But you can always use your mind control if it makes you feel better," Lucas said.
The nearby kingdom was quite far, but with the serpent's speed, they would reach it in about twenty days.
