Summoner Online: I Became the Tutorial Boss with a 999+ Villainess-Chapter 57: The retaliation of a dungoen lord.
"I am surprised that went well. I admit, I was a bit scared at the start, but I am glad it all worked out."
Sofia spoke, her arms behind her back as she walked slowly with a smile on her face.
Kai and the rest were right next to her, walking down the hallway of the Inn. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"How long are we supposed to wait before we can start trading? I would like to end this as quickly as possible so as to return to the Nameless Dungeon," Kai spoke right after.
"I agree. The dungeon has been without its Lord for too long." Carlotta smiled with each step.
Finally, they arrived in front of the door that they had rented earlier, even before they made their way to the Merchant Guild House.
"Just a single day. The papers and registration should be done before then. After that, we can trade the product anywhere in the city. We will also be provided with a merchant barge, which will allow us to trade outside the city as well," Leo explained.
"A day. Interesting. I can endure that," Kai replied.
Right in front of him, Carlotta had already helped him to open the door so he could walk inside without any issues.
"Please don’t hesitate to call me or Sofia if you need anything. We will be just around the corner." Leo spoke from the back, trying his best to be as reliable as he could.
Before Kai took a single step into the room, he paused, then slightly looked toward him.
"I do have a question before you leave."
"What might that be, Lord Shadow?"
"Say for instance, the Guild Master were to die an untimely death. Would that stall our progress? I presume he would be replaced with a new head, correct?"
Sofia and Leo found the question a bit strange, but more than anything they wanted to give him a response to it.
"The Merchant Guild Master is a very important role in the city. If the current one were to die, he would be replaced almost immediately. He would also resume his duties that very day. If he were to slack, he too would be replaced, which is why they often give it their best in times like that."
"Interesting. That would be all."
With that, Kai walked into the room, not uttering any other word.
Carlotta stood at the entrance.
She was supposed to have closed the door after him, but she stood there instead, staring at the two of them.
The look on her face was rather insulting, even with her not having to say a single word.
And it didn’t help her case when she suddenly began doing different gestures to them, telling them how they should stay far away from Kai or else she would strangle them to death.
Of course, they barely understood a thing, but it still freaked them out.
Then—
"Carlotta." Kai’s voice echoed from inside the room.
Immediately, Carlotta stopped what she was doing.
"Coming, my Lord."
With that, she left as well, closing the door shut harder than she needed to.
In the meantime, Leo and Sofia stood there, trying to understand what had just happened.
...
Inside the room, Kai had already sat down on the bed, the system notification flashing before his face.
He had begun checking the EXP he had gained since he noticed the dungeon sent him an alert of intruders planning to enter.
As expected, Hamr took care of it, making sure none of them got passed the Eighth Floor.
Just as he was going to check yet another section of the system, Carlotta’s voice pulled him out of concentration.
"My Lord, do you wish to get rid of that disgusting Guild Master?"
Kai paused.
"Ah yes, that one. Indeed. I had hoped to handle it myself when next I see him, but seeing as you have taken your time to ask, it must mean you want to do it as well."
"With certainty, my Lord. How dare such a lower lifeform rain insults on you? That is unfathomable. I do not stand for that. Every second that I know that man is still standing on his two feet irks me to the bone."
Kai flicked his finger to the side, dismissing the system notification.
"I had hoped to endure it until he had finished reading and accepting our proposal. Even better, he can get replaced when he dies. Truly no loss on our end. Having someone like him there will continue to be an issue."
"Yes, my Lord. Such a vermin had no worth to begin with."
’I always forget the women around me are psychopaths in one way or the other. But there is something else I have noticed. Other than sympathy, I feel different than my human self. Something like that should scare me to death and yet, I can kill another without feeling an ounce of shame. Am I turning into this monster—body, mind, and soul?’
He sighed out loud.
"I will not stop you if your will is to punish him. I have no qualms. You may do as you wish."
"Splendid. This is really an honor, my Lord. I will make an example out of that man. Besides, he discriminates. People like that should really rot in hell anyways. So basically, I am doing the world a favor."
’You’re one to talk.’
Carlotta moved towards the window.
"Do I have your permission to proceed, my Lord?"
"You do."
"Very well then, please excuse me."
With that, Carlotta disappeared out of sight.
The very next second, she was standing right on top of a nearby building, watching everything happen from afar.
From where she stood, she could also see the sunset, which basically indicated it would soon be nightfall.
In as much as she wanted to complete her mission in the most gratifying way she could think of, she didn’t want to also waste her opportunity to sleep on the same bed with her Master.
While she kept searching, her eyes finally caught on to who she was looking for.
Carlotta could see Savor walking into a carriage. He was most likely heading back home after his meeting with the team.
A frown of disgust hit her on the face.
"There he is. I am going to have a lot of fun tearing him apart. That I promise."
She snapped her fingers.
"Come, my children. Our prey awaits us."
From every direction, her monsters showed themselves to her.
They were tall and skinny, with their heads floating over their necks and a dark mist for a cape covering the rest of their bodies.
All five of them stood around Carlotta, their heads bowed.
"I am sure you already understand. Just like me, you are angered. Good. I need that anger. Hunt down that fool that dared to tell our Lord to stand from his chair. Kill anyone that tries to stop you, but leave him alive for me."
"As you wish."
One by one they began to fly away, disappearing and moving like invisible phantoms in the city. Not one person could spot them.
They were the perfect spy soldiers of the Nameless Dungeon.
And if they lock onto an enemy, chances are, they would never lose said enemy.
