Supernatural Insight Eyes-Chapter 103 - 0101 Reaper Descends
Chapter 103: 0101 Reaper Descends
After a day of travel, Ye Qiu had led Ye Zi across dozens of mountain peaks, and they could now see some small mountain villages nestled under the high mountains.
With the presence of other people’s homes, Ye Qiu did not rush over there. He had other concerns, fearing that he might bring harm to unrelated people.
He just brought Ye Zi close to the crops of these homes.
Along the way, Ye Qiu had been subsisting on preserved fruit every day, and he was practically fed up with the blandness when he suddenly saw some livestock grazing not far away. He slowly moved towards them.
Feeling the warmth of Ye Qiu beneath her, Ye Zi did not want to wake up; she wished she could lie on Ye Qiu’s back forever.
Ye Zi’s wound had healed long ago; she had just been pretending to be unconscious.
Watching the landscape swiftly passing by her side, Ye Zi remembered the first time she met Ye Qiu.
Back then, he’d taken her through a hail of bullets, and they’d survived through adversity. It felt as if those events were unfolding right before her eyes.
Ye Zi held on tightly to Ye Qiu’s chest, feeling his heartbeat. Her own heart raced along, only it beat much faster.
A smile curved Ye Qiu’s lips, but he did not expose Ye Zi’s little ruse, letting the girl linger on his back.
"It’s just like before, nothing has changed at all," Ye Qiu thought to himself with a silent chuckle, then he continued to stride forward.
The descent was harder than the ascent due to the steep slope, and with Ye Zi on his back, their pace slowed down. It took an hour to descend the mountain.
Finally at the foot of the mountain, ten kilometers from the mountain village, they could see livestock foraging, chirping as they ran through the woods.
Ye Qiu’s attire was somewhat shabby; his clothing bore numerous slashes that revealed the muscles underneath.
Ye Qiu did not care about his appearance, but it caused Ye Zi to clasp her hands on the burning hot chest behind her, her face turning a shade of crimson.
Ye Qiu caught a free-range rooster, plucked it, and roasted it over the fire.
When the roasted rooster began to emit a tantalizing aroma, Ye Qiu glanced at Ye Zi and teased, "How long do you plan to sleep? If you don’t wake up soon, I’ll eat it all by myself."
Hearing this, Ye Zi—who had intended to continue feigning sleep—knew that Ye Qiu wouldn’t let her go hungry. However, her stomach betrayed her by grumbling loudly.
Gurgle...
Ye Zi’s mouth twitched as she had not seen meat for many days and her appetite was now quite stimulated.
Seeing that Ye Zi was still pretending to sleep, Ye Qiu deliberately tore off a chicken leg and bit into it, praising how delicious it was while eating. It looked as though he was savoring some extraordinary delicacy.
Ye Zi’s stomach growled loudly; she could no longer keep up the act and opened her eyes with a sheepish grin, grabbing the remaining whole chicken for herself.
Watching Ye Zi eat voraciously, Ye Qiu laughed, "Slow down, you’re a grown lady now. Eating like this, who would dare to marry you in the future?"
Ye Zi pouted and hummed, "I don’t want to marry anyone. If I ever do, it will only be to..."
She didn’t finish her sentence, and Ye Qiu just smiled without continuing the topic.
"Aren’t you afraid those people will come after us with us making such a spectacle of roasting a chicken?" Ye Zi asked, her face smeared with oil and streaked with a black mark, as if some dirt had rubbed onto it.
Looking at Ye Zi, who resembled a small calico cat, Ye Qiu said indifferently, "What’s meant to come will come, and now that you’re awake, there is no one who can threaten us."
"You’re as confident as ever, big brother," Ye Zi said with a smile.
Ye Qiu wasn’t particularly worried about the assassins who might be pursuing them. With his abilities, no number of such assassins would be a match for him.
But the tranquility of the past two days had given Ye Qiu a slight anxiety; it seemed somewhat out of the ordinary.
There is a principle, the more powerful the storm, the calmer the sea is before it arrives.
Ye Qiu had a premonition; the assassin who was to appear next would definitely not be easy to deal with.
Indeed, Ye Qiu’s judgement was not wrong.
Just as the sun set, a silent and ghostly figure descended to the ground.
This person was not dressed in black like the other assassins.
His attire was simple, a set of martial arts clothing, making him look not so much like an assassin, but more like a martial artist in training.
He had oriental features, with slightly small eyes that were exceptionally piercing, as sharp and penetrating as an eagle’s.
It was then that another figure suddenly appeared some twenty meters away.
The two exchanged glances.
"I haven’t leaked a hint of my presence, yet you were able to sense my arrival. No wonder you’ve been able to escape so many assassins and easily finish them off," the man dressed as a samurai commented lightly, looking at the figure not far away.
The figure standing opposite was Ye Qiu.
The moment this silent figure entered within a hundred meters of him and Ye Zi, Ye Qiu sensed the anomaly.
The chirping of the surrounding birds had ceased, and even the eagles in the sky flew away in astonishment, daring not to linger.
After sweeping the area with his enhanced perception, Ye Qiu discovered this person’s presence; the guy’s method of concealing his aura was too strong, true to his word, without any leakage.
If not for the aura of a powerful being that emanated a faint force, scaring off some sensitive animals, Ye Qiu would have not noticed this formidable opponent.
"Brother, how could you leave me behind to face danger alone!" At that moment, Ye Zi burst out from the side, huffing angrily at Ye Qiu.
Ye Qiu didn’t explain; his attention was focused on the person opposite, as any split in concentration might allow the adversary to find an opening.
"It’s you!" Ye Zi also shifted her gaze to the man opposite, and her complexion suddenly changed.
"Hehe, little girl, we meet again!"
Ye Qiu’s complexion turned grave; she knew all too well how terrifying the person opposite was. Had she not struggled against him before, she wouldn’t have ended up restrained and captured by the Blood Wolf mercenary group. frёewebηovel.cѳm
It was precisely because of this person before her that she had been rendered helpless, like a lamb to the slaughter.
Ye Qiu had an extremely deep impression of this powerful individual, recognizing him at a glance.
"Brother, he’s very tough, let’s team up," Ye Zi proposed, worried that Ye Qiu might not be a match for the opponent. Despite her deep-seated fear of him, she was prepared to intervene.
"You know him?" Ye Qiu asked in surprise, as he did not recognize the person before him in the least.
Then, Ye Zi recounted her ordeal of being captured by the Blood Wolf mercenary group. In summary, if it hadn’t been for this man, she would not have been taken prisoner.
Ye Qiu had seen Ye Zi’s skills; she was also a formidable figure in the assassin world. After all, with Ye Qiu’s discernment, he could see the depth of Ye Zi’s skills. To easily subdue Ye Zi, the man opposite had to be an individual with highly proficient techniques.
The opponent seemed very powerful indeed!
Yet Ye Qiu did not shrink back from this; the threat posed by his skirmishes with the Blood Wolf mercenary group had been too trivial, but the man before him was different.
He appeared ordinary but was undoubtedly a lethal weapon. This was Ye Qiu’s keen judgement of a master, a unique insight.
"You two can come at me together." The man in samurai clothing gestured for them to approach with a crook of his finger, his eyes emitting a sharp edge that pierced straight to the heart!
