Chapter 794: Chapter 796: Discussing Marriage Matters

Dreams are wonderful, but once they intertwine with reality, even if you want to kill, you cannot.

Aunt Rui persuaded in return, "Ah Fang, I specifically asked the bodyguards, and they assured me it’s safe, nothing to worry about. Now that Jinxia has returned, look at her, all dark and thin, we must properly nourish her.

Remember, you had briefed Agent Luo before, didn’t you? Next time there’s a movie to shoot in Country L, he will definitely inform you in advance and consult your opinion before making a decision!"

Aunt Rui, pulling Mrs. He, talked as they walked towards the kitchen, not bothering to lower her voice.

He Jinxia silently wiped the sweat off Brother Luo’s brow, wondering if it was really okay to talk about this in front of him.

Now that she knew, if there was a next time she wanted to shoot in Country L, she would definitely instruct Brother Luo not to leak the information.

Once the two mothers disappeared into the living room, He Jinxia shifted her gaze to Sheng Yan, who was staring intensely at her.

He Jinxia’s face turned red, and she stood still, suddenly feeling too shy to move, her head hung low, fearing Sheng Yan might make an inappropriate move.

She suddenly heard a soft chuckle from the man. Looking up, Sheng Yan had consciously walked over to her and, reaching out, he wrapped his arms around her waist and gave her a deep hug.

Inhaling the fresh scent emanating from Mr. Sheng, He Jinxia felt grounded, with a real sense of security.

Sheng Yan spoke softly, "Maybe don’t shoot in Country L next time, I worry about you too."

He Jinxia huffed lightly, "I heard that you once went all the way to Country L for a movie, even ventured into a war-torn area, just to capture the authenticity of that scene."

It was because of this deed that Sheng Yan was widely praised online for his dedication.

Raising an eyebrow, Sheng Yan held her a bit tighter and said, "Back then, I had nothing and feared nothing, but now it’s different, I have someone to think about. Given another chance, I might not have the courage to venture into such places."

He Jinxia felt a warmth in her heart, whispering, "Alright, I won’t go to such places for shooting unless it’s necessary."

In the first few days of shooting in Country L, the nightly sound of gunshots would wake her up, and the first person she thought of was Sheng Yan.

Sheng Yan, perhaps worried she might be scared, often kept the video calls on during that time, letting her see everything he was doing, showing he was not afraid of being seen, as he dealt with piled-up official business.

Back then, it was Mr. Sheng’s silent encouragement that kept her from being too frightened.

It was then that Sheng Yan understood all her unease.

The sound of footsteps approached, and He Jinxia and Sheng Yan quickly separated.

He Jinxia awkwardly shifted her gaze away, while Sheng Yan appeared completely composed, evidently much thicker-skinned than her.

"Come on, let’s eat quickly, after dinner Jinxia should rest well. You must be tired from the flight, aren’t you jetlagged?"

Aunt Rui hadn’t mentioned it, but now that she did, He Jinxia felt a tide of fatigue sweep over her, feeling rather worn out.

She hadn’t noticed it earlier, sustained solely by the joy of returning home.

After dinner, despite her fatigue, He Jinxia mustered the energy to chat with Sheng Yan, but she was too sleepy to keep her eyes open and Sheng Yan personally sent her off to her room to sleep.

She fought to keep her watery eyes open, unwilling to leave, but Sheng Yan softly threatened her, "If you don’t go to sleep, I will have to carry you there myself."

He Jinxia silently looked at the two elders engrossed in their TV drama, weighed the sincerity in Sheng Yan’s threat, conceded, and obediently went to her room to sleep.

The next day, He Jinxia was woken by the sound of firecrackers.

Tomorrow was New Year’s Day, so some children were already setting off firecrackers outside.

He Jinxia was confused for quite a while, her mind a mess, feeling that she had not slept this soundly in ages.

The door opened, and Mrs. He peered in. Seeing her awake, she quickly urged her to get up for lunch.

Jinxia blinked her eyes, "Mom, why didn’t you wake me up earlier?"

Mrs. He: "I originally planned to come over earlier to wake you, but seeing you sleeping so soundly and failing to wake you after a few attempts, I let you rest."

Thinking of something, she added, "It’s a pity that Sheng Yan came early and has been waiting at home for you to wake up. Seeing you sleeping soundly, I asked him not to disturb you, so he’s been waiting in the living room all this time."

Jinxia met Mrs. He’s meaningful gaze, her face turning slightly red. She quickly buried her head in the blanket, mumbling, "Mom, go out for a bit, I need to change my clothes!"

Mrs. He hummed a response and joked before leaving, "Change quickly, don’t keep him waiting. After lunch, he wants to take you out."

Today’s lunch was simple. Mrs. He did not cook, but boiled some dumplings instead.

Sheng Yan and Jinxia were not picky eaters. Sitting together, they enjoyed the dumplings, each taking turns.

Mrs. He saw the good relationship between the two, eyes filled with satisfaction. After thinking a bit, she asked, "When do you plan to get married?"

Jinxia paused, her eyes darting towards Sheng Yan.

Sheng remained calm and said, "Mom, I plan to wait a bit longer. Jinxia’s career in the entertainment circle isn’t quite stable yet. Once her career stabilizes, we will get married."

Mrs. He frowned, "What counts as a stable career?"

Jinxia took a deep breath and said, "Mom, at the very least, I should at least become a top-tier star."

A trace of confusion flashed in Mrs. He’s eyes, "Is it difficult to become top-tier? I saw your news online this year and thought you were already famous, already top-tier."

Jinxia explained carefully, "I’m in the news a lot this year because I’m in an upward phase, just at the right time. If all goes well, I should be able to advance to a top-tier star next year."

Mrs. He’s furrowed brows relaxed, and she smiled, "I thought you two would continue dating for another two or three years before agreeing to marry. It turns out, a wedding could be held next year. I worried for nothing!"

Sheng and Jinxia exchanged smiles. He stealthily reached out and covered Jinxia’s palm with his hand.

After lunch, Sheng Yan took her to a place.

Jinxia thought he might be planning a secret date or something, but halfway through the drive, she recognized the route and realized they were on their way to the company.

Jinxia couldn’t help asking, "Where are you bringing me?"

Sheng Yan: "The company."

Jinxia pouted and muttered quietly, "Workaholic."

Indeed, she shouldn’t have expected anything romantic from this man.

Some men just talk, but their minds lack any trace of romance.

After finally coming back from shooting, she never thought that her first outing with her boyfriend would be to the company, only to watch him handle work while she zoned out.

Sigh...

From the rearview mirror, Sheng Yan saw Jinxia’s expression and a hint of amusement flickered in his eyes, but he said nothing.
