Supreme BeastTamer: I Can Copy and Upgrade Skills 10x!-Chapter 608: Garren’s Death
The corrupted pool shook again as the ceiling above cracked slightly from the ongoing explosions outside.
Inside the Hollow Spire, everything was rumbling.
Chains rattled above. Debris fell into the black pool, making the corrupted liquid sizzle. Zara, Elise, and Nyxirith stared up at the tremors, their hearts pounding wildly.
"What's happening?!" Elise shouted, coughing from the corrupted mist.
"I think someone's attacking…!" Nyxirith muttered, trying to peek through the windows. Seeing the blue, white, red, and purple blasts confirmed her suspicion.
"That explosion wasn't from Garren's men!"
Even Celestis, barely conscious and still half-submerged, blinked slowly.
Zara's eyes gleamed with hope when she caught sight of the blast as well.
Back outside...
Ashren and Garren stood face to face.
One silent. One grinning. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Without saying a word, Garren slowly stepped forward.
Ashren put his sword away and summoned a twisted halberd made of bone and obsidian.
Garren laughed. "That look on your face—it's the same as back then. Still pretending to care."
Ashren raised the halberd. "You've talked enough."
FWOOM!
The two clashed instantly.
Garren swung a corrupted blade that formed from his arm, while Ashren parried. The force of their blows created a shockwave that shattered the nearby stones.
BOOM!
The battlefield trembled.
The dragons, the Scavengers, the Remnant Eye—none of them dared to interrupt.
This was a battle between monsters.
Garren and Ashren clashed in the middle, moving too fast for the others to see. The only thing visible was the craters slowly spreading across the land.
The two continued to clash for the next thirty minutes. Their auras exploded outward, obliterating anyone who dared to come close.
Both were, after all, at the legendary tier—masters of corruption.
Suddenly, Garren made a slight oversight. Ashren quickly took advantage of this as his halberd sliced across Garren's chest.
Despite the corrupted blood splattering across the stone, Garren grinned as if the wound were merely a scratch. "Hahahah! You'll never reach them in time."
Ashren's expression didn't change. He replied calmly, "Maybe... it's not me you should be worried about."
Garren blinked. Then his eyes widened in realization. All his defenses were currently outside, which meant no one was guarding the girls.
And now that he glanced around, he couldn't find two people.
The leader of the Dragons... and Voron, the leader of the Remnant Eye.
"Fuck, you bastard! You tricked me!" Garren's eyes went bloodshot as veins popped across his forehead.
Ashren didn't answer. Instead, he twisted the halberd in his grip, dragging its edge along the ground as he advanced step by step.
"You thought this was just a fight?" Ashren said coldly. "No… this was a distraction."
BOOM!
Another explosion rang out behind them. A purple beam shot through one of the towers, collapsing the outer wall and sending a shower of bricks raining down.
Garren growled, his body twitching with rage when he saw this.
Underground...
A few meters away from where the rescue squad was waiting, there was the Hollow Maw.
It was—an enormous corrupted dragon with large muscles and bone plating. It guarded the entrance to the room where the corrupted pool was. Its single eye glowed faintly, but it didn't stir.
Thorne activated a Purify Sigil, an item found in a high level dimensional portal. nullifying the corruption around the area. The Scourge dragons thrived when the air was thick with corruption.
Now that it was suddenly cleared, it was no different from blinding the Hollow Maw.
With the Hollow Maw temporarily blinded, step by step, the group cautiously advanced forward.
Inside the prison chamber—
Zara jerked in shock as a faint flash of light sparked behind her.
Then—
Clank!
The chain shattered cleanly behind her, cut by a blue blade. She turned her head instantly, eyes widening.
"Drake…?!"
"Shhh." His voice was soft but urgent. He stepped out, dark frost already forming around his hands. "Let's get you out."
She didn't speak—she just trembled. A strange feeling welled in her chest. She felt a flood of relief and security.
One by one, Drake sliced through the chains, careful not to make noise.
Meanwhile, the others worked to release Elise and Nyxirith. Voron reached the pool and immediately began inscribing glowing runes around it to suppress the corruption.
As a historian, Voron was also very adept with inscribing runes.
Celestis still hadn't moved. Voron gently pulled her up like she was a sleeping child.
Celestis let out a pained groan.
"She's still fighting it…" Voron murmured. "But she doesn't have much time."
Thorne's voice snapped them out of it. "We need to move now. Garren will return any second!"
Back outside—
Garren's bloodshot eyes locked onto the Spire's upper tower.
He turned and sprinted toward it, leaping through the air like a comet of corruption.
Ashren extended a hand. "You're not going anywhere."
A massive spike of bone shot up from the ground, impaling Garren's leg mid-leap.
"AGHH!" Garren crashed onto the ground, snarling in pain.
"Let them go, Garren," Ashren said calmly, stepping closer.
"You think this is over?" Garren growled. "You think dragging me out was smart?"
He roared, summoning a shockwave of dark fire that exploded outward—shattering the bone spike. He tried to take off again.
But Ashren was already there.
He slammed a half-transformed fist into Garren's chest, sending him skidding across the roof. Black blood sprayed from his mouth.
Down below—
Drake was already carrying Zara over his shoulder, while the others supported Nyxirith, Elise, and Celestis. Voron and Thorne moved ahead, leading the way.
A droplet of sweat fell from Thorne's temple as he looked at the Purity Sigil with anxiety.
"We need to hurry," he said, his voice thick with worry.
Voron stepped forward. "Leave that to me."
He extended his palm and slammed it into the stone wall.
A pulse echoed through the entire tower.
On the surface, every corrupted rune flickered once—then went dark.
The entire Hollow Spire groaned.
"What did you do?!" Elise shouted.
"I collapsed the array," Voron said. "No more reinforcements. Now run."
From above, Garren's scream echoed. "NOOOOOO!!"
He had sensed it.
His entire Spire—his fortified stronghold—was crumbling.
He howled and blasted Ashren away momentarily, rushing back toward the broken wall.
But just as he reached the edge—
BOOM!
Ashren caught him again and slammed him through the roof with a seismic punch.
"You're not saving anyone," he said coldly, standing above the broken stone.
Garren tried to rise again, but a frost lance pierced through his leg, pinning him to the floor.
Drake stood on the stairwell, Zara beside him.
"No," Drake said. "This time, it's us doing the saving."
Zara looked down at Garren with disgust.
"You bastard." She spat as she stomped on his face.
Crunch!
Garren bared his teeth, but before he could do anything, Elise punched his gut. She didn't stop there. She climbed on top and, with her arms partially transformed, rained down blows on him until his face was disfigured.
The others didn't make any attempts to stop her. They only watched as the girls took out all their fury on Garren, who had caused them so much pain in such a short amount of time.
Valkor, Raziel, and the others successfully defeated the remaining Broken Claw members.
After pouring out all her anger and frustration on Garren's face, Elise finally stood up.
She panted a couple of times to stabilize her breath. She then glanced at Celestis.
Unfortunately, the water princess was too exhausted to do anything to Garren.
"You had a nice run, Garren," Ashren said, looming over his battered body. "It's just unfortunate you chose the wrong cause."
STAB!
Ashren pierced Garren's chest. Garren coughed up a mouthful of blood before dying—with anger and regret in his eyes.
"One threat has been dealt with," Ashren said as he retrieved his sword from the dead body. By now, everyone had gathered around Garren's lifeless corpse.
Ashren gripped the hilt of his sword, his gaze burning with resolve as he declared, "Now we start making preparations to face the Alph—"
"That won't be needed."
A voice suddenly echoed.
Everyone present felt a sense of dread.
