Chapter 70: Hurt But Still Love Him

Liam watched Eric leave the room, his eyes flickering with hesitation.

Being his best friend, he was well aware of Eric’s situation, and therefore, he knew he must have had some fortunate encounter to be able to become a Warrior so suddenly.

He didn’t covet it, but he wanted to ask for his help and see if he could also become a Warrior.

If he hadn’t lost his father and hadn’t realized just how pathetically weak and helpless he was in front of someone with some power, he wouldn’t have ever tried asking about his secret, but now, he was desperate and could only hope whatever helped Eric become a Warrior could help him too.

He took a step forward, wanting to go after him and talk to him about it, but then he hesitated.

’Would it be alright?’ He thought. He hadn’t even realized that just a day before, this thought wouldn’t have appeared in his mind once he decided to ask him.

Why?

Because he thought of Eric not as a best friend but as a brother. But now... the things were clearly not the same.

After a moment, he gritted his teeth, his eyes flashing with determination, and he was about to walk out after him when Elsa suddenly jumped off the bed and rushed over.

"Liam, take care of Mom for a while. I... I’m going to talk to him about something." She said, somewhat embarrassed, and walked out of the room.

Bam!

Liam watched as the door closed after her. Then, he smiled wryly and shook his head.

’I’ll ask him next time we meet.’

...

As Elsa watched her mother’s mood become better as she talked with Eric, she felt her heart stir, the feelings of pride, happiness, and love rushing into her head, making her swoon.

This was the man she had chosen and had fallen in love with. With just one sentence, he helped her mother relax. Of course, she knew her mother was still emotionally hurt, but only time could help her with that.

She wanted to join in the conversation and talk with him too but felt too shy, so she could only watch as he talked with Leah and Liam.

But then Eric said he was leaving, which made her anxious.

’I... I want to talk to him too, and... hug him again.’ She thought, her face turning red. As she watched him leave the room after giving her a smile, she couldn’t control herself but felt too embarrassed to run after him, but then she felt a hand on her shoulder.

Glancing over, she saw Leah looking at her with a small smile before she nodded and said encouragingly, "Go if you want to talk to him. No need to feel shy."

Elsa blushed but felt her confidence surge. However, she still felt too shy to run out under her and her little brother’s gaze, but since she wanted to go, she stood up, closed her eyes, and rushed toward the door.

After reaching the door, her nervous heart calmed down, and she was able to tell Liam to take care of their mother.

As the door closed behind her, she was about to look toward the stairs leading to the ground floor when she noticed Eric enter Rosalie’s room.

She paused, a glint of displeasure briefly flashing in her eyes.

’It’s only right that he checks up on her too since he has brought her here.’ She told herself and walked over to Rosalie’s room. She was going to wait for him to come out because he shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.

However...

Even after five minutes passed, he didn’t come out, which made her frown.

’Should I knock?’ She thought but hesitated. What if he felt she was being too intrusive?

However,

’He wouldn’t feel that, right? After all, I’m his woman and have the right to meddle in some things...’ She felt giddy when she thought this, and taking a deep breath, she raised her hand to knock when she heard a muffled cry.

’Mmpff~’

Her expression changed when she heard this because it sounded more like a moan?

She wasn’t a clueless person and knew everything about a man and woman relationship. This was why, despite her heart telling her she might have misheard or they might be doing something harmless, her mind told her to believe otherwise.

Still, she didn’t hurry to come to a conclusion and decided to place her ear on the door to listen in.

After a few minutes, she pulled away from the door, turned around, and walked over to the room her family was in.

In front of the door, she stopped and wiped the tears that didn’t seem to want to stop falling. After a short while, she controlled her emotions and knocked on the door. Once Liam opened it, she calmly entered and went to sit beside her mother as if nothing had happened.

But she overestimated herself by thinking she had perfectly controlled herself because both Leah and Liam immediately noticed something wrong with her.

Liam frowned. ’What did he do?’

He glanced at his mother, who told him with her eyes to make himself scarce so she could talk to her.

"I’m going to the bathroom." He said before leaving.

Leah waited for a few seconds before she put her hand around her shoulder and gently pulled Elsa into her embrace.

"Is everything okay?" She softly asked,

Elsa didn’t want her mother to worry, so she forced a smile and nodded, "Yes, everything’s good, Mom."

Leah pulled her away from herself by her shoulders and looked into her eyes. "Why do I feel you are lying then?"

"I..." Elsa wanted to say that wasn’t the case, but the motherly concerned look in her eyes made her unable to. She bit her lower lip while her eyes became misty with tears.

"Mom, Eric... He went into that woman’s room. I-I thought he was just checking up on her, but then I heard those intimate sounds. He... W-Why..." She choked on her words and burst into tears, unable to continue.

She didn’t need to because this was enough for Leah to understand what had happened. She pulled her in her embrace and started caressing her back to help her feel better. She didn’t say anything because she knew nothing could help her at this moment.

As she heard her daughter’s heart-wrenching sobs and felt her body tremble, she felt an intense anger and hatred rising in her heart. ’That bitch! How dare she seduce him!’

...

After crying her heart out for over ten minutes, Elsa calmed down a little. However, the pain in her heart didn’t lessen even one bit.

"...Why, Mom? Why did he have to do it? He... Shouldn’t he have told me if he... I’m his woman after all." She asked amidst her choked sobs.

Leah sighed in her heart. With her life experience, how could she not know what Elsa wanted to hear?

’Even after this, your love for him hasn’t weakened.’

If it had, she would have tried her best to make her forget him. For that, even if they had to leave this city so she wouldn’t see him again, she wouldn’t have hesitated.

But now...

Sigh!

She sighed again and said, "Don’t blame him, baby. It’s not his fault..."
