Chapter 169: The Origin Of The Other Soul

Watching Lukyan die, invoked the same feeling in her heart as what Tubby’s death did to her. Clasping her chest that hurt so much, Alexandra knelt in front of the tree, in her spiritual form.

Her hand reached for the tree. She could touch that tree. She remembered Tubby turning into a Dagwood tree that day. He too hid his love in his heart and revealed it when it was late.

[Was Tubby Lukyan? If so, why did Luke have the appearance of Lukyan and Tubby? Even when I didn’t remember my past, was it his appearance that made me fall for Luke? Because he resembled Lukyan, I fell for him? Was that the case?]

She knew there is a purpose she’s shown all these things. All the memories that she probably sealed because it hurt her so much.

[Ah, right... My father! Does he have a hand in everything that happened afterward?]

"Oh, yes, he had!"

The voice beside her, although was familiar, made Alexandra jump.

"Cathlyn?" Alexandra looked at her sister now standing beside her. She too was in her spiritual form.

"He passed through many lives, and although he never remembered you in any of his lives, he never stopped searching. He didn’t know that he was searching for you, but he always missed a part of his soul that he wanted to find. He always had the Lukyan blood flowing through him although he had various appearances. He never married or even looked at a woman as a potential partner. He searched and searched, living alone, and got mocked as a madman by many for almost all of his many lives. Sadly, you two never were in the same timeline for you to meet, as per father’s will, until..."

"Until he was born as Maximillian Zoros," Alexandra finished her sister’s sentence.

She wanted that to be true. Now that she remembers Lukyan, she could see the similarities between Tubby and Lukyan, and Maximus too. They were all kind, strong, and took liberties with her. And they all held great love for her in their hearts. They all wanted her to do great things and wanted to watch her soar higher. They all wanted to kneel in front of her.

But she saw the difference with Maximus. He didn’t hesitate to proclaim his love for her and didn’t mind the fact that she was the Dragon King’s daughter. He must have come to accept in his soul the fact that he is a human while she is not, and yet he cannot deny his love for her in this life. He did lose her for many lives.

"Yes, you figured that right," Cathlyn answered. "And it was father who switched the souls of those two. He knew your lingering attachment with Lukyan will reveal itself and you will fall for Adonis Lukyan. And then, he wanted to tell you that you fell for appearances and not for the soul. But you did an unexpected thing, making all his plans go to void. Ever wondered why your punishment was not severe?" Cathlyn asked. "And ever wondered why I am not jealous of you?"

"Ah..." Alexandra let out a long sigh.

She caused a great ripple in the weave of time and tore away the principles she should follow through her life as a human and as a demigod. She created the Aion Stone, created monsters to roam on earth hurting humans, and caused misgivings with the spiritual beasts, humiliating them. And she didn’t get any deserving punishment for it.

That means her father accepted responsibility for her mistakes. He knew he had pushed her into this and he wanted to not let her suffer. That explains why he could accept Maximus as her husband in this life. He still wasn’t very happy when she wanted to consummate. Her mother had to intercept.

[Ah... he is too much! That is too much love for a father to have. He cannot control my life as he wishes!]

"I thought you loved me. But it appears that you were pitying me all this time..." Alexandra looked at her sister.

"Well, yes..." Cathlyn smiled. But her smile didn’t reach her eyes. It was apparent that she is feeling bad about what happened to her sister. She does love her sister.

"And now... regarding this other soul in my body..." Alexandra mumbled.

That was the question she wanted to be answered, but she learned a lot. She learned that everything that went wrong in her love life was caused by her father.

She wanted to get mad at her father and storm into his place and sshout at him that she hates him.

But does she really hate him?

Her father made her life tough and wanted to prove to her that she did not love Lukyan. But who won in the end?

Both of them couldn’t take each other out of their heart as they had the love for the other engraved in their souls. Even the dragon King with all his planning could do anything to keep them away. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

It was not for lack of trying. It’s just... He lost!

He lost in front of their love and now he had to accept his failure.

She could stay mad at her father for what happened in the past, but there is no need for that. Her father lost, and they have consummated their love.

And other problems are looming over them now that need her whole attention.

The darkness in Maximus’ soul—it was partly her fault since she condemned the Lukyan men to such fate.

And there is another soul living in her body that somehow makes her feel weak.

Alexandra sat under the tree and Cathlyn joined her too. Everyone told her that there cannot be someon other soul residing in her body.

But there is another soul inside her and that only means...

[Ah... I have turned human as Iorhael said.]

Alexandra took in a deep breath. She closed her eyes and when she opened them, she and Cathlyn were watching the life of Felixa Zamfir.

She was picked as a baby from the old, abandoned farm that was cursed by Adonis Lukyan. When she died in her previous life, she ended up reincarnated into a baby and she ended up there because she craved that place.

The Duchess of Riza picked her up, and she had a pretty good life until the age of six, although the Duke of Riza didn’t like her very much. And when the Duchess passed, the Duke brought another woman home and that woman sent her to the horse stables where she struggled to live.

But she went by. She had some servants who loved the previous Duchess and those who pitied her treating her well. Although her life was a lot worse than the pampered life she had when the previous Duchess was alive, she did have a fairly good life. She wasn’t beaten up that badly and she was fed by the grace of the servants.

And then she saw it—her meeting with Maximus.

Alexandra’s lips curved up. She remembred him. She could see through his soul and she knew it was Tubby now in front of her, although he looked like Luke.

And that was why she accepted the Aion Stone and sent him away.

But everything changed after that.

The current Duchess saw Felixa’s meeting with that boy and his peculiar appearance. She did her investigations and found out who that boy was. And she didn’t like the useless girl getting the heart of the heir to the throne of Lethusia.

And that is when her abuse gained more momentum and got fiercer. It was then Maid Lucy who used to be a guard in the women’s prison was hired to be her personal maid.

She cried for help. Her father’s help when she’d be tied to a pole and got canned. They all laughed at her thinking that she was calling for the Duke of Riza who is not even in the mansion and will never know what is happening to her.

But , no! She was not calling for the Duke, she was calling for her father—the Dragon King, who supposedly loves her so much, he loves to interfere in her life.

He was not answering her. It was as if he had forsaken her to be abused by those humans.

She tried to use her powers once or twice. But that didn’t work well. Something drained her mana and she could not use her powers as she wanted to.

The abuse continued, and her cries for help didn’t reach anyone. She couldn’t save herself either. She was beated black and blue, she was starved, forced to drink from dirty puddles as they refused her even a drop of water... She suffered horrifying abuse.

She was not used to abuse. She was a pampered princess. Freom her father, her mother, and everyone she knew, pampered her or pandered to her. It was rare someone would dare to criticize her in front of her face. This abuse was new and unbelievably hard for her to bear.

"You figured out what happened to you now, right?" Cathlyn asked and Alexandra nodded.

"I know who that other soul inside me is, Cathlyn..." she said and her eyes welled up. "But will you tell me why I was forsaken?"
