Surviving in a School of Ghost Stories-Chapter 106
Father Miella stood in the second-floor hallway, looking around nervously.
"Senpai, I think we should go outside."
At my words, Noah-senpai silently watched Father Miella as if trying to assess the situation.
"Right. We should go," he said, nodding, seemingly confirming that Father Miella was human.
If I could see what others couldn't, then Noah-senpai could feel what others couldn't, they said.
Perhaps he sensed some human energy from Father Miella.
"Father, this way."
I gently opened the red door and called out to Father Miella.
He turned towards us. Despite wearing an eye patch, he always moved precisely, never stumbling or bumping into anything.
"As expected. You were here," Father Miella replied in an irritated tone.
"Do you know how much everyone has worried about you? Stop playing these games and come out now."
It seemed that Father Miella couldn't see Noah-senpai.
Just then,
Boom—!!
A tremendous explosion and a scream echoed from the first floor.
"AAAH! Move!!"
The scream was also from a familiar voice.
‘It sounds like Eastern’s voice...’
Father Miella looked towards the stairs with a startled expression.
Huh?
Father Miella had long hair, which he usually tied up with a simple black hair tie, so I never really paid much attention to it.
But now, he was wearing a red tie, and it almost looked like the white hair tie had been dyed red with blood.
I found it.
In that moment, I saw a huge shadowy figure of an evil spirit standing behind Father Miella.
"What the hell is this?"
Father Miella took a step back in shock as he noticed the evil spirit.
A man’s form, even bigger than Father Miella’s, revealed itself and looked down at him.
Half of its face was dominated by a giant eye. It didn’t exactly resemble a spirit, more like some kind of monster.
It grotesquely twisted its neck and stared at Father Miella.
"Melody, it’s the hair tie."
Noah-senpai's words triggered me.
I immediately grabbed Father Miella's hair tie and pulled it off, then threw some holy water towards the monster and pressed a cross onto its body.
Sizzling—
The sound of burning flesh filled the air as the creature turned into ash and disappeared.
And just like when I destroyed the first evil spirit, a number appeared on the floor.
Drip. Blood flowed from my nose. Noah-senpai quickly took out a handkerchief and pressed it against my nose.
I saw a cross-shaped tattoo appear on my forearm and then fade away.
Father Miella, aghast, pointed a finger at me.
"The handkerchief is floating in the air..."
Ah, it dawned on me that Father Miella wouldn’t be able to see Noah-senpai.
Usually, when strange events or ghost stories like this occur, people see the spirits, but it seemed Noah-senpai was an exception.
"...Melody, are you perhaps a ghost?"
Father Miella asked me with a serious look on his face.
Was this really the same priest who used to shudder at the mention of ghosts?
Father Miella finally came to his senses.
He was in disbelief, unable to believe what he had just seen with his own eyes.
The enormous evil spirit that had been behind him was terrifying enough, but the ghostly Noah-senpai wiping my nose must have been equally shocking.
Especially since Father Miella had always insisted there were no such things as ghosts in the world.
Hide well, or your hair will be seen.
I hurriedly led Father Miella and Noah-senpai into the red door and shut it.
Just before I closed the door, Kkamang sauntered in, joining us.
Since I had been standing close to Noah-senpai a moment ago, I thought it would be cramped with the three of us inside, but surprisingly, we fit fine.
What was fortunate was that while Noah-senpai touched me, Father Miella’s body passed right through.
Noah-senpai stood there with a slightly awkward expression before stepping outside through the red door.
He stood there for a moment, then came back inside and muttered.
"The picture looks strange."
I thought the same.
Hide well, or your hair will be seen.
Father Miella, looking extremely serious, peered out through the vent and asked me.
"I don’t know what you’re doing, but who is out there? Should I go out...?"
"Father, what you saw earlier, those things are crawling all around outside. Are you sure you’re okay? I won’t stop you."
At my response, Father Miella, who had been about to open the warehouse door, hesitated.
His hand grasped the doorknob, only to drop it and then try again several times.
Creeeeek—
I know you’re there.
A voice came from somewhere nearby.
Creeeek. Creeeek.
I heard the eerie sound of joints cracking as a woman with a grotesque posture started climbing the stairs.
"This is insane. What is that... Ugh!"
Father Miella exclaimed in a harsh tone, clearly shocked, and his voice was loud.
I quickly covered his mouth, but it was already too late.
Creeeek—
The woman, ⊛ Nоvеlιght ⊛ (Read the full story) who had climbed the stairs, stopped in her grotesque stance. She then began walking quickly toward us with a limp.
Father Miella, whose mouth I was covering, stepped back in surprise, bumped into the wall, and groaned softly.
Sniff. Sniff.
The woman stood in front of the red door, sniffing.
We tried to hold our breath, not making a sound.
She pressed her face into the vent, her bloodshot eyes scanning the inside.
But it seemed she couldn’t see inside from outside, as she soon withdrew and walked away.
I looked out through the vent, trying to find a medium.
Given the song of hide-and-seek she was singing, there must be a medium for the ghost—no, the evil spirit—before me as well.
Then, it happened.
Clunk, clunk, clunk—
Kkamang, who had been at my feet, knocked on the red door. It seemed to be asking me to open it.
Creeeek.
The woman, who had been moving away, turned around. As Kkamang knocked on the door with persistent clunks, the woman began walking back toward us.
Damn.
I bent down to pick up Kkamang, but it gave a soft tap with its paw and then jumped out through the small opening in the door.
‘Kkamang! No! Come back!’
I whispered urgently, but Kkamang ignored me, walking out haughtily.
I could hear the sound of Kkamang’s paws splashing in what seemed to be a water puddle.
The woman, with her grotesque posture, stared at Kkamang as it passed by. Kkamang stopped for a moment, looked up at her, then huffed as if annoyed by her stare.
Creeeeek!
At Kkamang’s growl, the woman slowly turned her body and began walking back toward the stairs.
At that moment, I wondered if perhaps the strongest being in this world might actually be a cat.
Splash.
Kkamang continued walking nonchalantly through the puddle, then stopped at the stairs, where the woman had just passed.
It then pointed its paw at the ground.
Then, it looked at me.
"Hastings, is that your pet cat? What on earth is that cat?"
Father Miella asked me in a flustered voice. Since even the Celestial Church priest didn’t know, how would I?
I shrugged.
"It seems like it wants us to go."
Noah-senpai muttered from the side.
Noah-senpai was right. I nodded and opened the door, rushing out.
"Hey, Hastings!"
I heard Father Miella calling me, but I didn’t stop.
Where Kkamang had pointed, hair had fallen.
I quickly grabbed a handful of it. Then, I saw the woman, who had been walking down the stairs, waving her body like a fan, climbing back up.
I immediately took off the cross from my neck, sprinkled holy water, and pressed the cross onto her forehead.
Sizzling—
She turned to ash, and the number 3 was etched into the spot where she had vanished.
I found it.
I found it.
