Surviving in the Beast World with a System-Chapter 152: An Inexplicable Emotion is Fermenting
The Beastman looked instantly chagrined. "Little female... witch, that isn’t considered Witchcraft, is it?"
’Little female witch?’
Wu Yue shook her head, amused by the strange title. "Don’t worry, it’s just a joke between family."
’The little female is as cute and mischievous as ever, and she even said we’re all family!’
The Beastmen all broke into silly grins again.
’It’s like I’m standing in front of a circle of giant golden retrievers. Each one is so endearingly goofy.’
’Except one of them is a little... dark... huh?’
When she got a clear look at the "black" dog, Wu Yue’s face darkened.
The two Beastmen beside the pitch-black one saw her looking their way. They chuckled sheepishly, rubbing their noses. "We thought since it was such a happy occasion, we should help him up to participate."
’You two dolts, what kind of deep-seated grudge do you have against this Beastman?’
"Quickly put him back on the grass pallet. His injuries are so severe, he can’t be moved around casually."
Wu Yue said with a sigh of resignation.
The two Beastmen seemed to have just then remembered how seriously injured he was, and they scrambled to help him lie back down.
Just then, a faint, intermittent sound, like the buzzing of a mosquito, echoed through the otherwise silent cave, reaching everyone’s ears.
"Witch... witch..."
The voice was so weak that the Beastmen all held their breath without realizing it.
The injured Beastman’s eyes were still closed. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to open them, but his eyelids, seared by the Fierce Beast’s ability, were stuck together.
He had only managed to utter those two syllables by forcefully prying open his lips, which were matted with blood and flesh. Now, fresh blood was trickling from his blackened lips.
The cave suddenly fell silent. Wu Yue felt a tightness in her chest, and her eyes couldn’t help but sting with warmth.
In her mind, getting stronger was just about surviving in a world where you had to fight for your life just to get food.
But in this moment, something began to brew inside her, an inexplicable emotion welling up in her chest. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Wu Yue composed herself. Her expression calm, she bent down and leaned close to the Beastman’s ear. "Get well soon so you can watch me brew your witch medicine, okay?"
A raspy sound came from the Beastman’s throat, as if in response.
Wu Yue straightened up, her eyes stinging. "Hurry and lay him down."
With that, she turned and walked out, returning with a clean leaf she had rolled into a funnel.
She knelt beside the Beastman and slowly inserted it into the gap of his open mouth. "Feed him the medicine."
Yuan Lang, who had just walked into the cave, raised an eyebrow at her words. He walked straight to the stone platform, picked up the stone pot, and knelt on the other side of the grass pallet.
In his hand was a simple spoon carved from wood.
The two of them worked together like that, spoon by spoon, until they had fed the entire pot of medicine liquid to the Beastman.
"Once he drinks the herbal medicine, his fever will slowly go down."
She carefully removed the leaf from the Beastman’s mouth, not spilling a single drop onto his skin.
Perhaps because she had been kneeling for too long, she stumbled a little as she stood up.
A large hand reached out from her side, steadily supporting her arm. "Be careful."
The Beastman was bare-chested, and Wu Yue was only wearing a small tank top. Skin met skin where his palm touched her arm, and the heat from his hand was scorching.
Wu Yue’s body trembled slightly. She glanced at Yuan Lang with a smile. "Thanks."
With that, she simply grabbed his arm for support and began to stretch her numb legs.
A moment later, she finally stood up straight. "All better."
Seeing her like this, the Beastman chuckled softly and slowly let go of her arm.
