Surviving The Fourth Calamity-Chapter 847 - 643: Endless Thunder, Clearing Darkness
Hill’s eyes pierced through layers of earth, seeing the Archmage dressed in a splendid robe, his face a steely blue.
That familiar face told Hill who the newcomer was.
No wonder Prefect Bai is so favored despite his foolishness; tsk, his face is like a peeled one, just with a bit more beard.
Upon receiving the news, Witch Bai rushed here straight from the capital.
His unlucky son lay on the side, seemingly knocked over by his own father.
Hill couldn’t help but chuckle, "An Pengfei, Witch Bai is here, and he’s quite fast."
The first to react wasn’t An Pengfei, but An Minyi, who was already somewhat flustered. Upon hearing of Witch Bai’s arrival, he nearly lost his mind and was immediately toppled by the Sel Wizard’s little pet.
Claws pierced through his body, and An Minyi let out a wretched scream.
An Pengfei’s excitement was suppressed by this sudden event; he glanced over before turning back, "Looks like An Ran wasn’t stopped."
"Ah!" Hill said nonchalantly, "I almost forgot, An Ran brought your family head and other family members here a few hours ago—even Prefect Bai was there.
It’s just that they didn’t want to take the elevator and have been digging tunnels, so I thought it was too early to inform you."
He looked at the concerned An Pengfei, who seemed hesitant to speak, "An Ran is fine, just a bit injured, staying behind the Head of An Family!"
An Minyi’s cries ceased, his eyes filled with fury toward Hill, "You did it on purpose! You deceived me!"
Hill chuckled, "Who do you think you are? Worth my attention?"
Hill was simply too lazy to care, not afraid of him, okay?
Suddenly, An Minyi erupted, laughing skyward, "Haha! Haha! Why does no one see me? No! No!
I will let the whole world know who I am!"
He dashed wildly toward the Blood Pool, his body emanating an eerie glow.
"Stop him! He’s going mad!" An Pengfei shouted, his body gleaming with green light, intending to charge straight at him.
Hill sneered, a long ice crystal sword piercing through An Minyi’s body.
Hill’s passive effect triggered, and the most nefarious aura easily drew forth thunder. Bolts of lightning descended, purifying half of the Blood Pool.
Evil people die from talking too much, the ancients weren’t wrong, Hill thought to himself, as that guy let out the villain’s laugh, Hill’s sword was already floating above his head.
In the future, if you want to fight, you must remember to be swift and decisive, saying even one more word is inviting trouble for yourself.
Hill glanced at where the thunder struck; it seemed the damage to the Blood Pool was quite severe.
No choice, Hill’s passive effect, which was constantly with him, was largely influenced by his mood; though reasoning told him he should mind his own business, just thinking about what was underneath filled him with aversion.
So the thunder that was drawn seemed larger than before.
Moreover, because a wave of Life Force was created, even the zombie evil spirits didn’t dare come over, making this side temporarily safe.
Hill wondered if the mastermind behind the scenes had spat blood.
If it weren’t for trying to stand up for Santarin by dragging Hill into their conspiracy, perhaps the matter might have had a chance of success. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Hill mulled things over and realized they had planned to do this for a while, merely sooner or later. As long as the Royal Faction represented by Prefect Bai and the Noble Clan spearheaded by the An Family turned against each other, they’d have the chance to send the ’Pit of Ten Thousand’ directly to the surface.
But with Hill involved, all their calculations failed, even the ’Pit of Ten Thousand’ didn’t kill anyone significant.
The earth above finally disappeared, and Witch Bai nearly rushed down impatiently. He glanced at the area where the thunder struck, then unhesitatingly surged forward, his body shrouded in a silver glow.
The magic wand in Witch Bai’s hand, imbued with a jade glow, burst with a peculiar power, causing the tainted blood within the Blood Pool to gradually evaporate. Some evil spirits seemed to have been baptized, their sinister faces slowly transforming into tranquility.
How interesting, is this the necromantic power of Shoulong here? Hill watched with keen interest. This power felt contradictory and very complex, seemingly more like Origin Power.
Apparently, in the East here, they directly utilize the origin. This approach is potent but complicated to learn; advancing from the lowest tier of sorcerer to an Archmage capable of directly connecting to the origin must consume countless time and resources.
No wonder, despite the influence of the Weave, magic-based professions like sorcerers in the East remain few. The Shulong Empire can only deploy large military formations, unable to organize a sorcerer army.
Similarly, the complement they bring to military formations is substantial; after all, unlike on the Ferun Great Land, it doesn’t rely on Elemental Power separated from the origin.
Hill finally satisfied his curiosity, feeling that the matters here could be left unattended as the corpse at the bottom of the Blood Pool seemed to be stirring.
A group of sorcerers floated down from the open top of the cave, while the Clan Leaders remained stationary, implying that such matters were considered the sorcerers’ responsibility, leaving these officials and Clan Leaders to merely keep watch.
However, An Ran’s head appeared at the edge of the pit, a kilometer above, squinting and straining to look down. He was genuinely concerned about An Pengfei’s safety, showing an entirely different attitude and constantly waving his hand, trying to call the eldest son of the An Family up.
Even when on Reception Island with An Yanfei, An Ran behaved respectfully rather than with the concern he showed now.
This guy, he probably belongs to the faction of the Head of the An Family himself.
Hill contemplated for a moment and then floated up, casually lifting An Pengfei and his subordinates into the sky.
There was no need for them to continue fighting here. The An Family had achieved enough military exploits for An Pengfei. There was no reason to vie for credit with the Sorcerer.
Moreover, there was the Witch Bai, who seemed intent on making amends.
This Great Witch was quite different from his descendants, harboring resentment toward Hill for killing his grandson, yet keenly aware of the main priority.
If the ’Pit of Ten Thousand’ couldn’t be completely purged, he wouldn’t need to talk about the position of ’Imperial Great Shaman’; merely keeping his life would be a challenge.
Even if it could be purged, he would only remain an ordinary Great Witch, and the Emperor would no longer employ him.
Without national backing, he couldn’t possibly trouble a powerful Archmage. So even if the one standing aside was the killer of his grandson, he managed not to glance at him.
If not for that uncontrollable bit of hostility, Hill might not have sensed Witch Bai’s hatred at all.
Hill laughed indifferently, handing An Pengfei to the shouting An Ran, arms crossed, looking below. It didn’t matter if there was any hostility toward him. First, see if one can escape the mouth of a worm.
The Sorcerer’s body didn’t seem very strong. Their Life Fire wasn’t potent, but their Soul Force was twice that of a Ferun Great Mage of the same level.
With top-tier magic defense and multiplied physical defense, solely relying on swallowing people into its stomach, the worm could harm with corrosion power capable of dissolving steel. It was certainly damaging to sorcerers.
Due to Witch Bai’s grand movements, the other sorcerers were casting spells from relatively distant positions.
In case of any incident, they could still hide in the staircase waiting for Witch Bai’s battle outcome. Even if Witch Bai lost, a powerful figure from the talent-abundant Shulong Empire should be able to solve this worm.
At most, Witch Bai would suffer an unfortunate demise. It wasn’t bad, indeed, as it would save him from seeking the Underworld Road himself.
Hill didn’t think the behind-the-scenes person would refrain from acting. Although the sinister scheme failed, eliminating a Great Witch from the Shulong Empire wasn’t a total failure.
Hill had been slightly hesitant, catching the scent of two volcano snakes, one far away seeming to drift south with the river, the other much closer yet elusive, hiding its presence through unknown means.
Hill estimated that the nearby one was controlling the underground blood pool, most likely Lin Yi.
In this case, it might be better to use Witch Bai as bait. After all, he might not necessarily die, and even if he did, Hill wouldn’t care, as his focus was only on those who offended him.
Hill laughed carefree and, amidst the violent trembles and screams below, his eyes sharpened as he rushed directly to the south.
Hill’s speed was incredibly fast; it seemed almost instantaneously he shot towards a swamp several kilometers away from Benevolence City.
The stinky swamp still carried the aura of that guy, and the water surface left a slight ripple.
As he thought, controlling that tightly sealed spot, so difficult for Hill to find, required leaving the site.
Hill looked down at the swamp from a high vantage point. The person hiding inside was silent, playing dead thoroughly.
Unfortunately, if they had been farther away, Hill might have been misled, but at this proximity, the surrounding earth revealed everything to him.
Hill gazed below; swamp or not, as long as it’s part of the earth, even if it’s an Otherworldly land, it would respond to his call.
The swamp rolled continuously, eventually presenting a peculiar black egg-shaped creature.
The human-sized black egg, upon contacting the air, began to emit an ominous red glow, seemingly intending to self-destruct.
Hill raised his hand casually and froze it.
His Freezing Spell benefited from the Ring of Winter, instantly forming an ice layer even more solid than ten-thousand-year-old ice mountains, yet the red light on the black egg could harm the ice.
Flame with corrosion power. Hill curiously examined it for a moment. In Toril’s judgement, corrosion was actually a mixture of the Water Element and Darkness System.
It’s akin to pouring water on fire; this thing actually born itself, creating such a large group. What kind of creature is this volcano black snake?
He chuckled thinking, is there actually a Yamata no Orochi in this world?
Hill, with a smile, flew directly towards Benevolence City.
Behind him, twelve swords simultaneously pierced the large ice block encasing the black egg, while endless thunder poured down from the sky.
Hill never intended to ask for any justification; death was his conclusion.
