System's POV-Chapter 873: Battle At Sea [Part 2]
"Commander, aren't we going to do anything?" Hugo asked Thirteen, who was munching on the gummy bears Sherry hand-fed him.
"Of course, we're going to do something," Thirteen replied. "Guys, take out some potato chips and enjoy the show."
"… Sir?"
"Relax, Hugo. Let the 60th Battalion handle this one. We'll just sit this one out."
Hugo wanted to say more. But, seeing his superior officer had no intention to help, he decided it was best to stay silent and observe for the time being.
Little did he know, Thirteen had already ordered Cristopher and the Lizardkin, Drazzat, to go underwater and deal with the Bladed Bull Shark.
The monster was only a Rank 5 Sovereign, while Drazzat was now a Rank 6 Sovereign. The only problem was the swarm of Shark Jinns under the Bladed Bull Shark's command.
According to Athena's surveillance, the Jinn Army was composed of Rank 1 up to Rank 3 Monsters.
While they were weak, their numbers reached a staggering figure—over five thousand.
Thirteen couldn't come up with a logical explanation as to how this happened. High-Ranking Jinns shouldn't have been able to venture this far from their respective continents.
How could he know that the barrier protecting Solterra and Pangea was currently entering a weakened phase, allowing some holes to appear in its defenses?
The intelligent Jinns and Majins had sensed it and didn't waste the opportunity to do things they couldn't before, including creating a Monster Stampede, which the Wanderers were about to deal with.
Soon, the sound of dozens of cannons from the Destroyer and the two Cruisers that belonged to the 60th Battalion roared to life.
Within the darkness, emergency lights were activated to illuminate the surrounding waters.
Drazzat and Cristopher, who were now underwater, floated right under the 69th Battalion's Cruiser, waiting for the main force of the Shark Army to be annihilated by Aiden's barrage.
Since it was dark, it was a little hard to see the blood oozing from the bodies of the monsters who were unlucky enough to be hit by the volley of cannon fire.
The members of the 69th Battalion were ordered to stay on standby so they wouldn't be hit by stray cannon fire.
Suddenly, Aiden's destroyer shook as the Bladed Bull Shark rammed the side of the ship with its bladed fins.
Sparks flew in the darkness, and the sound of screeching metal reached everyone's ears.
But the armor platings of the destroyer held back the brunt of the Rank 5 Sovereign's attack, leaving only a faint scratch behind.
The Central Government didn't skimp on the armored plating of their naval ships.

Since they knew that battles at the sea could take a turn for the worse, they were made with the thought of withstanding a head-on collision against a Rank 7 Sovereign.
"Brace!" Aiden ordered as the bulk of the Shark Swarm rammed themselves into the three ships at the front.
The ships shook for a while, but these low-ranking monsters didn't pose a threat to their armor-plating.
"Mark that Bladed Bull Shark!" Aiden ordered. "Prioritize killing it!"
The young man knew that, as long as the Bladed Bull Shark died, they could just whittle away the remaining Sharks until they retreated or perished under their bombardment.
His only concern was that they might run out of ammunition if this matter was not settled quickly.
"Sir, half of the Shark Swarm is headed toward the Supply Ships," one of the Operators reported. "What should we do, Sir?"
"The Supply Ships are sturdy enough to survive the attack of the Low-Ranking Jinns," Aiden stated. "Only the Bladed Bull Shark is a problem. However, we can't use support fire because we might accidentally hit our allies.
"Let the 69th Battalion handle the rest. Kill the monsters we can kill. Only when we wipe the monsters on our side will we be able to help them!"
While Aiden was barking orders left and right, Thirteen was peeling some sunflower seeds and eating them one by one.
Unlike Aiden, who was taking the situation seriously, the Commander of the 69th Battalion seemed at ease.
"Sir, the swarm will reach us in a minute," the Operator reported.
"At ease," Thirteen ordered. "Cristopher will handle the rest."
The Supply Ships had moved at the very rear of the formation, while Thirteen's Cruiser stood between it and the swarm of sharks that were now headed in their direction.
The Bladed Bull Shark was still busy attacking the Destroyer, leaving its minions to deal with the rest of the human army.
Drazzat, who was swimming beside Cristopher, gave the young man a thumbs up as if to say he would protect him no matter what.
Cristopher nodded and lightly clapped his hand once.
A moment later, a Golden-Eyed Killer Whale, which was a Rank 6 Sovereign, appeared in front of Cristopher.
Thirteen made sure that his right-hand man could battle in the air, land, and sea, allowing him to capture powerful avatars that would assist him in battle.
The fifteen-meter-long killer whale unleashed a screech that intimidated the swarm of sharks headed in its direction.
Even great white sharks flee when they sense a killer whale, the apex predator of the sea.
Its mere presence was enough to send the great whites fleeing their hunting grounds, knowing killer whales were much stronger than them.
This instinct was ingrained in all sharks, even if they were Jinns.
Just as Thirteen expected, the shark swarm went into a frenzy, with some of them changing course in the opposite direction as if they had seen their natural predator.
Even the Bladed Bull Shark shuddered when it sensed that the Golden-Eyed Killer Whale had locked into its location, prompting it to flee.
Unfortunately, the sound waves the Killer Whale had unleashed slammed into its body, making its body feel sluggish.
That short window of opportunity was enough for the Orca to close the distance and attack the Bladed Bull Shark.
Knowing there was no escaping its enemy, the Bladed Bull Shark ordered its army to charge at the Killer Whale using suicide tactics.
Forced to obey, hundreds of Sharks clashed against the Golden-Eyed Killer Whale, slowing its advance.
Aiden, who thought this was the perfect opportunity to kill the Bull Shark, ordered the Wanderers under his command to attack and kill it.
Since it was a valuable monster, the chances of getting items from it were very high.
But before he could even give his orders, Zion's projection appeared in front of him.
"That Bladed Bull Shark is mine," Thirteen said. "Tell your soldiers to stand down."
Aiden, who no longer dared to disobey Thirteen's orders, nodded in acknowledgment of the teenage boy's request.
He simply ordered his men to attack the remaining shark army and decrease their numbers.
The Golden-Eyed Killer Whale might be strong, but after being attacked by suicidal sharks that numbered in the hundreds, it couldn't possibly bulldoze its way toward the Bladed Bull Shark, who took this opportunity to escape.
However, it had only managed to swim away for a kilometer when it was fished out of the sea by a giant Roc, who was waiting to ambush it from the sky.
