Ten Thousand Dragons Technique-Chapter 31: Zhang Yang’s Provocation
Inside the palace sat a middle-aged man named Elder Feng. He was a Grandmaster and an elder of the Wangyue Pavilion.
Elder Feng had taken a liking to Zhang Yang and accepted him as his disciple, which made Zhang Yang ecstatic. He was now the direct disciple of an elder. Although Elder Feng was currently a Grandmaster and not yet a Great Grandmaster, he was only in his forties. With his boundless potential, he was certain to become a Great Grandmaster in the future.
Relying on his status as a direct disciple, Zhang Yang set his sights on Lin Xuan’s Spirit Stones.
When Elder Feng heard his plan, he nodded and said, "That Lin Xuan is a Heaven-Forsaken. Giving him Spirit Stones would be a waste, since he’ll never be able to break through and become a Martial General in this life. His Spirit Stones are yours."
"You can go and claim them now."
"Thank you, Master," Zhang Yang said, overjoyed.
He left the palace and headed for the treasure vaults of the Heavenly Dao Institute. Countless treasures were stored here, and it was also where disciples claimed their Spirit Stones. Soon, he had taken the five Spirit Stones belonging to Lin Xuan.
However, at that very moment, Lin Xuan also arrived, naturally here to claim his own Spirit Stones.
"Well, if it isn’t you, kid!" Zhang Yang sneered upon seeing Lin Xuan. "Don’t bother. You won’t be getting any Spirit Stones."
"What do you mean?" Lin Xuan stopped and frowned. "I’ve read the Heavenly Dao Institute’s regulations. Every new disciple is entitled to five Spirit Stones. Why can’t I claim mine?"
Zhang Yang laughed. "Because your Spirit Stones have already been claimed by me."
Claimed by you! Lin Xuan’s brow furrowed as he stared intently at Zhang Yang. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Zhang Yang, however, was completely unconcerned. He said with a smirk, "What does a Heaven-Forsaken like you need Spirit Stones for? What’s the point of you cultivating? Can you even break through? Giving you Spirit Stones is a complete waste."
"But it’s a different story for me," he continued. "I’m a top-tier genius. I’m currently a Ninth Grade Martial Artist, and it won’t be long before I break through to become a Martial General. Therefore, giving the Spirit Stones to me is putting them to good use. Giving them to you is just a waste."
Hearing this, Lin Xuan’s face grew dark. He hadn’t expected Zhang Yang to not only steal his Spirit Stones but also be so incredibly arrogant about it.
Unfazed by Lin Xuan’s glare, Zhang Yang said, "What? You don’t like it? And what if you don’t? It’s your own fault for being Heaven-Forsaken."
Lin Xuan’s expression turned even colder, and a glint of murderous intent flickered in his eyes.
Zhang Yang sneered again. "What, you want to fight? Go on, I dare you. The rules of the Heavenly Dao Institute forbid disciples from fighting without cause. Violators will be punished. You’re a Heaven-Forsaken. Do you really think you can attack me and not get kicked out immediately? Of course, if you wish to challenge me, I don’t mind accepting. But do you have the guts?"
Zhang Yang had looked into Lin Xuan’s background. Although Lin Xuan was a First Grade Alchemy Master, his cultivation was only at the Eighth Grade. Zhang Yang, on the other hand, was a Ninth Grade Martial Artist. With a full realm separating them, Zhang Yang was confident he could crush Lin Xuan with a single slap.
Finally, he added, "Elder Feng has already approved this matter. If you have a problem with it, go talk to him."
With that, Zhang Yang turned and left.
Lin Xuan went to find Elder Feng. This elder was not only Zhang Yang’s master but also the one assigned to teach martial arts to the new disciples of Wangyue Pavilion.
As Lin Xuan headed toward Elder Feng’s palace, Zhang Yang had already returned to his master’s side and recounted the incident.
Elder Feng snorted coldly. That Heaven-Forsaken dares to be dissatisfied? He’s a good-for-nothing. What right does he have to complain?
"Don’t worry, disciple. You just hold onto those five Spirit Stones," he said. "If he’s not convinced, tell him to come find me."
The Heaven-Forsaken, Lin Xuan, had already become the laughingstock of the Heavenly Dao Institute. The fact that this buffoon had been assigned to Wangyue Pavilion, and under his supervision no less, had made him a target of ridicule among the other elders. The mere mention of Lin Xuan’s name was enough to sour Elder Feng’s mood. He desperately wished he could expel Lin Xuan on the spot. However, the Dean of the Heavenly Dao Institute had personally granted Lin Xuan a one-year grace period, so Elder Feng could only grit his teeth and endure. But he certainly wouldn’t be showing Lin Xuan any kindness during that year.
Just as he was lost in thought, the door pushed open and Lin Xuan walked in.
Zhang Yang turned to look, a smirk playing on his lips. The kid actually dared to come. It’s useless, though.
When Elder Feng saw Lin Xuan, his face darkened. "What do you want?" he snapped.
Lin Xuan produced a scroll. "This is the handbook for new disciples of the Heavenly Dao Institute. It states here that every new disciple receives five Spirit Stones each month. I would like to ask Elder Feng why my Spirit Stones were claimed by someone else."
Elder Feng scoffed. "That rule applies to other new disciples, not you. You’re different. You’re a Heaven-Forsaken, a waste of space. What use would you have for Spirit Stones? It’s nothing but a waste. Is there anything else? If not, get out of my sight." Elder Feng waved his hand as if shooing away a fly.
Lin Xuan stared directly at the elder. "As an elder, you are being unjust. I will take this matter to the Dean of the Heavenly Dao Institute."
Having said his piece, Lin Xuan turned to leave.
"Stop right there!" Elder Feng roared, enraged. How dare this whelp threaten to report him to the dean? The audacity! He sneered, "So you want your five Spirit Stones, do you? Fine. Then prove you aren’t a waste of space. If you can defeat Zhang Yang, the five Spirit Stones are yours, and no one will ever be able to take anything from you again. Can you defeat him?"
Zhang Yang also stepped forward. "That’s right, kid. Do you dare to challenge me? If you win, not only will I give you your five Spirit Stones, I’ll give you my five as well."
"Alright. You said it. I accept," Lin Xuan agreed.
Hearing this, Zhang Yang gave a disdainful sneer, clearly not taking Lin Xuan seriously in the slightest.
Elder Feng chimed in from the side, "Since the challenge is accepted, let’s head to the challenge arena. Zhang Yang, go inform the other new disciples. Have them all come and watch."
It was obvious that Elder Feng wanted to humiliate Lin Xuan in front of everyone. Let’s see if this waste of space still dares to act so arrogantly before me in the future.
Zhang Yang went out and spread the word of the challenge, instantly causing a huge stir among the new disciples. The newcomers from Wangyue Pavilion began making their way toward the challenge arena. The news quickly spread beyond Wangyue Pavilion to the other pavilions of the Heavenly Dao Institute. Upon hearing it, the other new disciples were all surprised. A challenge between new disciples? They had to go see.
Sun Tian and Liu Ruyue also got the news.
Liu Ruyue shook her head. "How could Lin Xuan possibly be a match? He’s only an Eighth Grade Martial Artist, while Zhang Yang is a Ninth Grade Martial Artist! Not to mention, he’s the direct disciple of an elder." Where did Lin Xuan get this courage? I think he must be out of his mind.
Sun Tian, however, said excitedly, "Let’s go! We have to watch. I want to see that kid get beaten with my own eyes."
I wonder if he’ll be crippled in the process? Sun Tian thought, gloating.
「Wangyue Pavilion, the challenge arena.」
The area was incredibly lively. It seemed almost every new disciple in the entire Heavenly Dao Institute had shown up. Sun Tian and Liu Ruyue arrived as well, pushing through the crowd to get a spot at the very front of the arena. They wanted to witness Lin Xuan’s downfall firsthand.
On the arena stage, Zhang Yang stood with a look of utter disdain. "Lin Xuan, if you kneel and kowtow in surrender right now, it’s not too late. Otherwise, once I make my move, your loss will be a miserable one."
