Ten Thousand Soul Banner: Deceased, do you have any unfulfilled wishes?-Chapter 1099 - 1095: Lonely Soul of the Wilderness
Shen Siyuan has always been a doer. He said he wanted to get a driver’s license in the morning, and quickly completed the registration on his phone.
Just as he put down his phone, Taozi, who was eager and excited, grabbed his arm.
"Come on, I’ll take you to learn to drive."
Shen Siyuan was taken aback and couldn’t help but ask, "Aren’t you going to the company today?"
"Hey, the company will manage just fine without me."
Taozi said confidently, raising her chin.
"It’s not often I get a chance to be a coach. It’s way more interesting than going to the company."
Shen Siyuan was amused by her and nodded helplessly, "Alright then, where are we going to practice driving?"
"Just follow me."
Taozi ran to the entrance excitedly, grabbing the car keys, and waved them with a smile.
Shen Siyuan looked back at the direction of the living room and couldn’t help but smile.
Luckily, Tang Tang was taken to class by Teacher Xu, otherwise, the little one would definitely want to come along. She’s becoming more and more clingy.
The two went downstairs, Taozi skillfully started the car, and the red Lexus merged into the flow of street traffic like a lively flame.
Sitting idle in the car, Shen Siyuan took out his phone and started reading through traffic rules.
His fingers slid swiftly across the screen, and pages of traffic regulations flashed past his eyes so quickly they almost left only afterimages.
Taozi was concentrating on driving and casually glanced over, her eyes widening with curiosity. "Can you really remember all that flipping through so fast? At this speed, you probably didn’t even see the characters clearly, right?"
"Of course, I can remember."
Shen Siyuan didn’t even lift his head, "Once you’ve completed your cultivation, you’ll be able to do it too. Photographic memory is just a basic ability for cultivators."
"Wow, that amazing? So if everyone could complete their cultivation, wouldn’t everyone be a genius at learning? By then, if we all did research together, our technology would advance rapidly, straight to the skies?"
Shen Siyuan chuckled at her comment, "It’s not that simple. Memorizing knowledge and flexibly using it are completely different things.
"Besides, in this day and age, cultivation isn’t that easy. Even stepping through the door is incredibly difficult."
Taozi nodded as if understanding, and didn’t ask further.
While chatting, the car soon left the downtown area and turned onto a quiet path.
After parking the car, Shen Siyuan got out with Taozi and looked around, feeling a bit surprised.
In front of them was an abandoned parking lot, overgrown with wild grass, but incredibly spacious, with a flat surface and no obstacles—an ideal place for beginners to practice driving.
He couldn’t help but look at Taozi, asking with a smile, "How did you find this place?"
Taozi raised her hand and pointed at a few dilapidated buildings in the distance, with a hint of regret in her voice, "Because my cousin bought a house there before, and I accompanied him to see the construction site. It was almost time for them to hand over the house, but who knew the developer suddenly ran off, and it became a mere shell."
"That’s indeed unexpected." Shen Siyuan frowned slightly, "So how was it dealt with later on?"
"How else could it be handled? Just accept the bad luck, I guess."
Taozi pouted, her voice full of helplessness, "The homeowners protested several times, but the developer had already run off with the money, without even a trace to be found, and ultimately, the matter had to be dropped."
Shen Siyuan suddenly recalled something, asked casually, "Did the house have a bank loan? Even with such an abandoned project, do you still need to continue repaying the loan?"
He had considered a loan to buy a house himself, hence he was quite curious about the matter.
"Of course, you have to repay the loan."
Taozi got worked up talking about this, her voice rising, "But I heard a new policy was introduced this year. As long as you can cancel the purchase contract with the developer, you can stop repaying. It’s a hassle though; the developers have already gone bankrupt. Where do you go to cancel a contract?"
The more she talked, the angrier she got. She clenched her fist, "Honestly, regular folks shouldn’t have to pay this money. Without the house, we still have a huge debt. What kind of logic is that?"
After a pause, Taozi added, "When you think about it, if you’re not worried about affecting your credit score, you could just stop repayment. The bank can’t take a bunch of unfinished buildings and auction them off, can they? Those terrible houses, no one would take them even for free. Who would buy them?"
"That’s true..."
Shen Siyuan nodded, about to continue the conversation, when his voice suddenly stilled, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes.
His gaze moved past Taozi’s shoulder, focusing on a distant corner of the desolate parking lot, where amidst the overgrown grass, stood a woman in a floral dress.
She stood there alone on the mottled cement ground, her silhouette as thin as paper. The wind gently swayed her skirt.
"What’s wrong?"
Taozi, always sensitive to these things, noticed Shen Siyuan’s gaze suddenly freezing, and immediately turned her head to look where he was staring.
But all she saw was the empty, desolate parking lot, grass rustling in the wind, and the silent dilapidated buildings in the distance, nothing but the sound of the wind.
Yet Taozi had been with Shen Siyuan long enough to guess what could be wrong.
She instantly realized there must be Apiao around here.
In the past, due to Dou Dou and the others, she had long lost her fear of ghosts.
But standing in the desolate, abandoned parking lot, with only the howling wind and the mottled shadows cast by the distant buildings all around, she couldn’t help but feel a chill rising from the bottom of her heart.
She instinctively moved closer to Shen Siyuan, tightly grabbing his arm, and even her voice lowered unconsciously, "Is... is there something here?"
"Don’t be afraid, I’m here."
Shen Siyuan comforted her softly, patting the back of her hand, then stepped toward the woman in the floral dress.
Taozi felt reassured, thinking that with Shen Siyuan around, she had nothing to fear.
Moreover, she could clearly feel the warmth of his palm from the hand holding his arm, instantly dispelling the little fear in her heart with a secure sense of safety.
The woman in the floral dress saw the two of them walking straight towards her, first hesitated, a flicker of confusion in her eyes, then turned to intense surprise.
She hesitated for a moment but eventually stepped forward to meet them.
"You... can see me?"
The woman’s voice was light and floated, carrying a hint of shaky incredulity.
Although she spoke to both of them, her gaze was fixed firmly on Shen Siyuan alone.
From beginning to end, only this man’s gaze never wavered from her.
"Yes."
Shen Siyuan nodded, his eyes falling on her slightly frail silhouette, asking curiously, "But why are you staying here?"
Though ghosts like tranquility and avoid human presence, this abandoned parking lot was too excessively secluded, hardly a fitting place to linger.
The woman in the floral dress didn’t immediately answer his question, her face full of undisguised delight, her voice rising a bit, "You really can see me and even talk to me?"
Taozi stood aside, watching Shen Siyuan talk to the empty air in front of them, unconsciously tightening the hold on his arm.
Feeling her tension, Shen Siyuan placed his hand on hers, gently patting it.
A wisp of Netherworld Energy seeped silently into her body from their touch.
Taozi only felt her vision flicker as if an invisible veil was instantly lifted.
The next moment, the woman in the floral dress, with her pallid face, was clearly visible before her eyes.
